Ahhh Long John Silver's, my childhood! I grew up going to Long John Silver's when they used to have a location in Hacienda Heights, so it's a shame they are only reduced to one location now! Although far from me, once I heard Long Beach has the only Long John Silver's in the state, I just had to go! This is a joint KFC + Long John Silver's, so you can order Long John Silver's through drive thru or inside. The menu they have is exactly how I remember, with battered fish/chicken filets and hush puppies front in the center. I got the family order of those. The sides (such as mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese) are from KFC, So do take note of that. The food is exactly as I remembered growing up! It's fast food so don't have your expectations too high, but I consider this great quality fast food! The tartar sauce and vinegar they provide very much compliment the battered fish, and hush puppies are fun to eat as always. read more

The last time I ate at Long John Silver's was in Costa Mesa ages ago. I was surprised to find this location and ordered the 2 piece fish, 6 shrimp platter with fries, cole slaw, and 2 hush puppies. The fish was very good and light and crispy. The shrimp were good sized and better than I expected. The fries were okay, hush puppies were plain without a kick like I'm used to, and the cole slaw was from KFC since this is a combined Long John Silver's/KFC restaurant. The place is very clean and the workers are very nice and friendly. When I'm in this area, I'd come again if I'm craving fish and chips. read more

I've been eating Long John Silvers since I was a kid, and cannot believe most of them are out of business. If you haven't tried it, you guys are missing OUT. There is no other fast food option like it! Their fish and chicken are in a league of their own. I've been to this location a few times, most recently about a week ago. We ordered quite a bit of food for our family of 5. The wait was insane. They had us pull to the front and wait, and I kid you not, we waited about 45 minutes, but I would argue it was 100% worth the wait. Everything was fresh and delicious! Cannot be beat. Well worth the drive and the wait. Sadly, can't get here as often as I'd like because of those reasons, but will gladly continue to support. Long John Silver's o' Long John Silver's. Let me preface by saying this is a heavily biased review. LJS was my birthday spot every year as a kid until it wasn't. See, I'm visiting from NY where they no longer exist so when the opportunity arose to have some on this vacation I had to. My order was simple, 2 pc fish, 3 pc chicken, hushpuppies and I added a 3 pc shrimp. Everything was perfect. The batter was so crisp and so hot, the fish planks were flakey while the chicken planks were meaty and firm. I can't explain the flavor of this besides SALT but wow it brought me right back. The hushpuppies are these crispy, fluffy, oniony balls of bread that go perfectly with the mains, I could eat these forever. The shrimps were also good, though these in particular retain a bit too much frying oil. I had no issues with customer service and although my food needed to be fried fresh both visits I felt like it was still ready pretty quickly. LJS baby come back, the kids miss you. read more

This is the only LJS left in L. A. county and that's a shame. We live about an hour away so we plan to stop here whenever we are in the area. On our most recent visit, the fish, chicken, hush puppies and fries were delicious and hot. The coleslaw was good as usual. LJS has been a family favorite since the 70's and we don't think any other fish or chicken place is even close in quality. The employee who helped us (Kacie or K.C. or Casey - not sure of spelling) was great. She was friendly and helpful and an asset to the business. She goes out of her way to help customers. For those of us who love this establishment as a nostalgic slice of life, and occasionally like to visit, it serves its purpose. And it is yummy. It never tried to be a fancy fish house. The hush puppies brought me right back to childhood road trips, and the fries were fresh from the fryer, not sitting under a heat lamp. Service was quick and cheerful, with the staff making sure everything was right before I left. The dining area was tidy, tables wiped down right away, and condiments stocked. This location is half Kentucky fried chicken and long John silvers. The website list food items and 6 dollar fish basket but they don't offer even half of the items listed on long John silvers. The only thing good about this place is that they need to fry the fish when you order it. It's not sitting under a heat lamp. The other strange thing is that the menu boards inside the restaurant are all on poster boards on the counter. This was a drive-through that was well worth our time period after a late night search of dining options we found this KFC/Long John Silver's location where we ordered a peculiar combination of original recipe chicken, sides and fish combos for dinner. Everything was fresh and seemed like it had just been cooked. We had to pull around and the bag was brought out in about 10 minutes. My first visit to this LJS was superb but tonight was horrible! I drove from Long Beach to get some chicken planks. When I got my order, it didn't look or taste right. I took my food up to the counter and asked the guy if this was fish. He was super rude. I was like well it doesn't taste good and he refused to cook a fresh batch. I was so hungry that I ate some of it and now I'm home sick. I guess I will give the manager and health department a call tomorrow. Super disappointed. read more

I am Captain of my ship and I had my chief serve me up some of the freshest catch of the day. It was delicious. The food didn't have that fishy smell. The employees were so nice and sweet. I am so sad the Torrance location closed I honestly didn't think any LJS were still around but I have this location. I was so happy so my niece and I went to check it out and I agree with everyone's review the area/ plaza is very sketchy. We went around 1pm wasn't very busy we walked in and there was a young boy behind the counter. He didn't seem to be pleased to be working there he didn't smile or say much. My niece and I both asked for extra extra crunchies and we both got the smallest scoop under our chicken. I will say it's nice they make it to order that way the chicken tasted hot and fresh. I DO NOT LIKE THERE FRIES. Gross. The hush puppies were almost burnt but the mash potatoes was decent. read more
