You will notice a theme with many of my reviews. The theme that should be ever-prevalent is the fact that I VERY RARELY -- if EVER -- write reviews regarding chain restaurants. I personally feel as if chain restaurants certainly have a purpose in the culinary world, but also am a strong proponent that most chains serve substandard food, with (usually) wildly varying service from extremely substandard to great. Most chain restaurants serve frozen crap that they defrost and drop in the fryer, or defrost and throw on the grill. Personally I don't like to overpay for crap I can buy at the grocery store and cook better myself -- for much, much cheaper. Longhorn Steakhouse is one of the very rare examples, and this particular location is even better than most. Several years ago, this particular Longhorn Steakhouse was a place to avoid like the plague. The store management took ZERO pride in their food, and took even less pride in their service. The service was so bad, that I'd rather poop out nails, and then swallow them then dine here. In fact, it was so bad, that the restaurant was even on the 'Close List'. As in, it had six months to turn everything around, or it was done. It was at this point that Jon Christopher took over as GM, and the store immediately showed signs of life. Since then, this Longhorn Steakhouse now produces some of the best quality food I have EVER eaten at a chain restaurant. It is amazing how much better food tastes when the people cooking it, and serving it give two craps. Food: When I dine here, I find myself getting one of a couple things. If it is lunch, I ALWAYS get the same thing, and if you have never had it, you are seriously missing out. I ALWAYS get the half sandwich and soup. Shaved Prime Rib sandwich, with French Onion Soup. I am a firm believer that this is one of the best French Onion soups in the world. It has an amazingly well-balanced flavor, with deliciously caramelized onions, a bold, but smooth broth, and a creamy, stringy Swiss cheese on top. If I were on death row, this sandwich and soup combination would be what I would get. The Shaved Prime Rib ... I always order it the following way: No onions, 4-Cheese Sauce instead of the Swiss it comes with. This turns it into a creamy mess of steak, cheese, and roll. Very Philly-Cheesesteak like. And, I always ask for a larger portion of their homemade potato chips with cheese sauce and bacon. Just amazing. In terms of dinner: I typically order one, or a combination of the following: Texas Tonions, Ribeye Steak (med-rare), a side of the Bacon Mac and Cheese, a salad with Bleu Cheese dressing. The Texas Tonions are awesome. They are similar to a Blooming Onion, but in petal form, and significantly less greasy. This is what I love about them. They are crispy, the onion is sweet, and moist .. and the sauce served with it has a great bold and spicy flavor that compliment the onion. Everywhere else, I order my steak rare. At Longhorn, I order it medium-rare. They are one of the few steakhouses that understand meat temperatures. Yes, I have had the over-cooked steak before; but they correct it immediately. The bacon mac and cheese is awesome. It has a wonderful bacon flavor, with a bold and creamy cheese sauce. Lastly, I always get a salad with bleu cheese because their bleu cheese dressing (as well as their ranch) is homemade. Food: 5 / 5 Atmosphere: There is something extremely charming, intimate, and comfortable about this locations atmosphere. There is plenty of room between tables, so you never feel crowded, and you feel like your dining in somewhat privacy. The booths are extra large, and they have some great circular booths in the corners of each side of the dining room. The lighting is very low, which contributes to the intimate experience, and the music is never too loud. In fact, even at full capacity, it is still rather quiet. I feel at-home here. Atmosphere: 5 / 5 Service: Like most chain restaurants, I have experienced a wide-range of service here. I have experienced the frantic server, running from table to table trying to stay ahead, and I have had the experienced server who manages their tables extremely well and provides a more personalized dining experience. Fortunately for me, regardless of the service experience, I come to Longhorn for the food. Though, despite that, I still find that this particular location has the most consistently-good service among the chain restaurants. Service: 4 / 5 Price: This is really my only qualm with Longhorn. I feel as if it is a little over-priced; though, I am always very pleased with the quality of the food I get, so it is a pretty decent trade-off. Plus, if there is ever a problem with the food (which is rare), they correct it...plus some. Price: 4 / 5 Final Thoughts: I loathe chain restaurants, for many of the reasons in my intro, and for so many more I haven't listed. Despite that, I love THIS chain restaurant. read more

The place is decorated nice, the staff are good. The filet we had was cooked to our liking, the baked potato was good. This is our choice of steakhouse because the prices arent over inflated. read more

Run, don't walk from this place! Upon first sitting down I noticed that the dessert menu had sticky stuff all over it. The waitress did not know the price of a large beer, she would have to "go check on it". 15 minutes later I noticed it had been sitting at the bar; foam gone. I Had waited for 40 minutes for a lunch special that consisted of 1/2 a prime rib sandwich and a salad. Seriously. I got up to pay for the beer, scrapping the lunch and noticed that the whole front of the bar had stacks and stacks of dirty dishes piled on top of it. LongHorn is a consistently good steakhouse. Even though this location is near Wolfchase I can't remember waiting long to be seated, even an Saturday night during peak holiday shopping season. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is family friendly, and they have amazing, flavorful steaks. One of me & my husband's favorite casual dining places. read more

The quality of food did not match the price. Steaks were small in size and fries were dry. Hamburger and chicken tenders were average. Overall there are other steak restaurants with better quality food at lower or equal cost. We were very disappointed. read more

Best steak in town! The calamari is to die for! We have tried every steak house in our area (not the higher priced ones - I'm looking at you Ruth Chris) and this is the only one my wife doesn't say "Yours is better." Our steaks are almost always spot on. If not, we've had no problems getting another. The filets are juicy and delicious but if you're really hungry order the outlaw ribeye. It's a 20 oz bone in ribeye seasoned "outlaw style". And you'll be chewing on the bone before you know it. I highly recommend this place. read more

First of all, we were seated and given menus with half of the pages missing from 3 of the 4 menus. We finally got fully printed menus and ordered. I thought I would be safe and order chicken tenders - those were the blandest, most tasteless tenders ever. Even the honey mustard sauce didn't help any. Next, The salad was drowning in dressing...you should ask for your dressing on the side. Then, the creamed spinach had no flavor at all...again - tasteless. Service was okay. I could not tell you what the steaks are like because I always order the parmesan crusted chicken. I know, I know. It's a steakhouse...but the chicken is one of my favorite meals I've ever had from a restaurant. The bread they bring is delicious too. I've never had horrible service here. The service was horrible. A big party left as we got there which left our side of the restaurant pretty bare. The other side wasn't much busy either as we went at the end of the dinner crowd. There where plenty of servers as they all seemed to hang out up front by the host they seats you. So it's not like they were short staffed. Not only did he never check on us we had to remind him to get us forks and napkins so we could eat the appetizer. Then someone else brought on our food which had obviously been sitting under a warming lamp so long they the ribs had dried out. Our server never checked to see if we had anything or if we even got our complete order. Which we didn't as our sides where never brought out. Over all I'm not going back. The food ok at best and the service made me want to leave halfway though. There are other steakhouses in the near by area. I recommend just about any of them besides this one. read more

Food is very good and consistent, staff are great. First time here I was expecting a roadhouse style joint but it is quite the opposite. Over 5 or 6 visits I had one bad one, I think our waitress was just having a bad day. I brought it up with management and was treated very well. My wife does not eat red meat, they have some delicious options she is a fan as well. We usually eat here when we are looking for an somewhat intimate fine dinner or lunch w/o paying the price for it. read more

Have many chances are too many? We can't count the number of times we have eaten there even repeatedly told out of menu items, or slow service. Today we walked into the lobby during off times. No one else around. The hostess said hello and then walked away. We stood there. She returned twice more without saying a word don't know if she was readying a table or what. My husband who is sooo patient was getting upset. So we left after about 8 minutes with no one conmunicating what was going on. I hate this cause We really like the female bartender who works during this time. She is the only saving grace for this Bartlett Longhorn. When the food is good is great but too many inconsistencies not worth the aggravation. read more

This is one of my favorite chains. I recently moved here from DC metro and I'm having a hard time adjusting. It's nice to be able to go some place familiar. The food is consistently good at this location. We usually sit in the bar area and the same person always waits on us. Recently, I went to the Collierville location, Indeed, I enjoy coming here because they serve one the best fillets in town. (Flo Fillet). I tried the new Hawaiian style ribeye, but was not too impressed with it :( It had too much fat within the meat for thick ribeye cut. I truly recommend this location because the service has been fantastic and the choices of meat have been great. For a chain restaurant, I love this place! read more

Maybe tonight was an off night for service at Longhorn so that I can let slide. My sirloin was one if the worst cuts of meat that ice ever had at a chain steakhouse and the wait time was excessively long for our appetizers, meal, drinks and check. The 6oz sirloin was under cooked and we sent it back and guess what came next? Yup...another excessive wait time. My wife and I were done with our meals by the time my sons steak was returned. I didn't want to make a deal and ask for the manager to take some consideration on $100 tab. Half the restaurant tables were empty yet there were people sitting around up front and outside to be seated. This was there one shot with me and I'll seek out another steakhouse next time. read more

This was my first time to Longhorns for dinner service (4/8/17) and hats off to the cook. We waited for about 20-25 min which is pretty normal on a Saturday night. The FireCracker Wrap appetizer was delicious. The lime ranch dip was just right... Well balanced between the fresh lime flavor and homemade ranch, and perfect fort the chicken wraps. They were light and proportionate without leaving you full before the meal arrived. The side salads that went with our meals were served shortly after and it was nice that we have enough time to finish before our meal arrived without a big gap in between courses. The salad had small bits of tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons, carrots,and cheese. Small enough not to be over powering with any one flavor. I ordered an 8oz sirloin with broccoli. Normally I wouldn't expect much with a price tag of $14.99 but I was impressed and satisfied. It is rare that you can find a restaurant that cooks broccoli perfectly without being undercooked, or opposite... too much water and mushy. This broccoli was a healthy portion with just a bit of snap. PERFECT!!! I can't even cook broccoli with that good. The steak was ordered with a medium doneness. Usually I will order well done as many cooks get this won't and the steak would otherwise be rare in the center. Again, the medium cooked steak was PERFECT. Not only was it seasoned well without having too much salt or pepper, but there was a nice sear. The edges of the steak were brown 1/8 -1/4 quarter inch around all sides. Through the center it was juicy and NO RED. Perfectly pink all the way through. It was a decent 8-10 ounces looking at the size and the fat was trimmed off well. My spouse ordered the salmon. Again perfect. I had recommended it after having it for lunch one day. It wasn't greasy or overcooked. Nice light flavoring and fresh. Good flavor too. I'm not a salmon fan add I've only had it maybe 3 times in a decade but I would recommend it again. The mashed potatoes were probably russets but I wasnt sure. Cooked with some kind of cream. I could taste a bit of pepper in them. They didn't look superb but we're light, white, and flavorful. Didn't look bad just not what I'm used to (chunky or yellow). They may have been whipped. I only wished I'd ordered a nice glass of Merlot or Chardonnay to compliment the steak. There is always next time. read more

There are very few times you can have amazingly friendly servers, all of them, and still have pretty good food, too. They have a pretty good New York Strip, and they are one of the only places that can cook a sirloin right, following chillis, and Applebee's. If you want a steak and great bacon cheese fries, oh and good tasting bread, you should probably come on down to Longhorns, and have yourself a time, friendly servers everywhere, humble customers without complaining. Me and my family was going to do Father's Day early Saturday night at Long Horn Steak house. We know how busy this place is so we made a reservation at 7:30 got there at 7:15. Check in with them and they said it would be an hour before we get seated!!!! What? An hour? Wow! Meanwhile I was waiting there. The host told the walk in people 30 min. WTF. I made a reservation and still have to wait an hour and people walking in 30 min. I will never go back to this place. Besides it smells bad in there. read more

Their spinach dip app was probably the worst I've had. The T.G.I.Friday's frozen version is better. Otherwise this meal was great. The BBQ beef brisket sandwhich was yummy and my husband's steak was cooked to perfection. The waitress was friendly and the bartender made a great margarita. This restaurant is a hot ass mess. My family and I sat around for 3 hours waiting for a table WITH A RESERVATION. We've come to this restaurant before on several occasions and have never had such an issue as this, and have brought a lot of business to this restaurant. The GF and i go to this longhorn about 99% of the times we go to longhorn. we've had 1 problem in the 5 years we've been going there and that time was a fluke accident. the food is always right, the servers are pretty on top of things. the take out website for longhorn is almost unreal its so good. theres also a dude working there with the dopest haircut on earth. its so amazing it almost makes me cry im so jealous. the one in collierville is pretty ok too, but the one in bartlett is the business. read more

I sat down at the bar to have dinner which only had 3 or 4 people sitting around me and did not get served or waited on for five minutes. The manager finally greeted me with a menu and silverware when the bartender was off in la-la land somewhere. We eat out quite often in a variety of restaurants. LongHorn has lost it's edge. The last two times we have been here the food was average at best. Today we ordered a 12 oz Ribeye and 8 oz Flatiron. The food came out in pretty quick, but the Ribeye was cold, and it was smaller than the Flatiron. We returned the Ribeye to be warmed. The service was okay, but food lacked flavor. read more

My party of 5 arrived at this location to celebrate my husbands birthday tonight at 8:30. The place was virtually empty but the hostess asked for our name and then handed us one of their table alert systems. The hostess immediately left the hostess booth and went back into the kitchen. She NEVER came back!!! 30 minutes passed and NO ONE came back up front. They just left us sitting there with a whole restaurant full of empty tables!!!! This was one of my fav spots to visit..... buuut tonight I witnessed the dethroning of a good establishment!!! First, at 5 o clock in the afternoon they run out of mashed potatoes.... ???? Really but you have baked potatoes?? But alas right before we got our food we were informed that they now had mashed potatoes! My waitress was horrible.... Lauren!! Ughhh she never checked on us while we were eating: 1: food was ice cold ; My hubby and I always order the same: the Parmesan encrusted chicken! With fully loaded mashed potatoes, suuuper cold. My husband sent his back but I was so tired of waiting I forced down half of ice cold potatoes and half burnt chicken 2: forgot my sister in laws fries she ordered with her mediocre wings that were "fatty" 3: Lauren decided to bring out my sis in law to go order midway through the meal.... why?? I am absolutely in lover with LongHorn Steakhouse!!! I've dined here several times and the food has always been consistently delicious. One key thing is having a great waiter here and there have only been two times that I experienced a waiter that was not good. The other times that I went there, I lucked up and got the same waitress and she really makes you feel important and is super patient with all of her tables. I wish that I could remember her name but it has escaped me as of now. I love how their steaks are always so fresh and seasoned just right. Their alcoholic beverages are good, flavor wise, but they are very skimpy on the alcohol. I understand that you don't want to be responsible for having patrons walk out of your establishment sideways and getting into cars but it would really be nice to at least be able to taste the alcohol. My best is advice is to never go when they are busy because the service from the servers will NOT be at its best. I usually go before 4pm. read more

The atmosphere was wonderful. We were having dinner with another couple who we hadn't seen in a long time. We all ordered the fillet medium well, three 6 oz, and one 8oz. They all were 6oz well done. The "8 oz" was sent back for a real 8 oz, and it came back rare. Everyone agreed that the fillets were delicious, even though none were cooked as ordered. The manager spoke to us. My friend's sweet potato came with brown sugar, but she clearly stated no brown sugar. She also requested water with no ice, but it was ice-filled. My serving of broccoli was a very generous portion! The mushrooms came out about half way through the meal. Our ordered beverage was not delivered. Water was never refilled. Our waiter did not get our usually large tip. read more

Worst experience I've ever had in a longhorn restaurant. the manager was a useless excuse for a manager that shouldn't work at McDonald's. We ordered a ribeye medium rare and got a flank steak well done. We told him that's not what we wanted so they cooked another flank steak they over seasoned it like they are upset they had to redo it cause they don't know how to do their job. This restaurant is convenient and in the neighborhood so always good to try out to see what is new on the menu. I hate to say it, but I like to go here just to eat the hot loaves of bread, they are so good! Started out by ordering the roasted white cheddar stuffed mushrooms and they were hot, flavorful and awesome. Salads were cold and crisp. This trip order was made up of the sirloin, the strip and a shaved prime rib sandwich. They really, really, need to add spices to their grilled items, just too sad to get a good piece of meat only to have it so bland, just makes it so much less of a steak. Side of fries was plain, would have been good to have seasoning on them. The maple roasted spaghetti squash was the best I ever had. The shaved prime rib sandwich was not hot and would have been better with a side of au jus or horseradish and might ask for that if I ever order that again. i was at your restaurant 2/16/14 and i ordered the flat iron steak and the waiter brought me the sirloin steak instead, i don't know if he thought i wouldn't know the difference but i did, i was going to confront him about it but my husband stopped me. i would not have mind the sirloin but the problem is that the waiter did not give me a choice, he just brought the plate to the table and left, never came and told me that he was probably out of the flat iron steak or just thought i was stupid, i am none of the above, but because of his incident, i will not be going back to this particular restaurant again. read more
