New Year's Eve Dinner!! First time here! C decided she wanted a fancy dinner for NYE. She actually even said the words, "I chose this over Porch and Parlor". Huh? We arrived to a sea of blue lights from sky cop camera trailers in the parking lot. There are probably 20 flashing blue lights in the parking lot, plus the security car had strobing yellow lights. It's like a crime scene. We are behind a few others so I went to the bathroom before we are seated. The soap dispensers did not work and the jar that was supposed to feed the dispensers is just sitting on top of the counter for you to use. The mouthwash jar was empty and had been for some time considering the dust. Some convenience store bathrooms on Poplar are better. Inside is more of the same. Old, worn, outdated, a little bright for a Steakhouse. Get seated and our server came over and went through menu with us. They were thorough and friendly. They made great suggestions and listened to our needs. The restaurant was out of the beer they suggested for me and only had big chain beers to offer after that so I had a beer made in California. It's hard to believe they don't sell any locally brewed beers here. C had a special olive infused martini they have with a caviar side. She loved the caviar bump with her fancy ass. We ordered the Tomahawk Ribeye for two. She had a wedge salad and I had Lobster Bisque to begin. We both loved these starters! There was actually a good bit of lobster in my soup and her wedge looked fantastic! Soup was really good and I thought I may have been wrong about this place. When we ordered, we discussed how well the kitchen could cook a steak and if med rare was going to be a warm red center. He ensured us it would be. I thought if it's a bit cool, the hot plates will finish it off. Damn giant ass thing arrives rare as hell and still cool. I thought the hot plates would help, but not really. They were not that hot. Ugh. I was going to send it back, but C immediately says "it's great" when the server asked about the doneness. I just went along, but then she spit her first bite out because she could not chew it. She cut it up into smaller pieces going forward and got some of it down. I guess maybe mentally it was too much for her, because it was tender in the mouth. She trimmed off of the bone for pieces she should eat. I am better at rare steaks than she is and ate what I could. It was almost hard for me to eat as well. Most of the center of the steak remained untouched. Our server came as we were finishing and I could tell they noticed it was underdone by their expression We had the Flemings Potatoes and Corn Brûlée as sides. The corn was good, but the potatoes were also cold and not put together very well when prepped. I make a similar au gratin potato myself and whoever prepped this did layer it correctly so you had 8-12 layers of potatoes slices with no seasoning or sauce. Just plain ass potatoes. Pair this with it being cool. Nope. Corn brûlée may have been the best part of our entree, and that is sad. Canned corn and sugar.... Torched We just stopped eating, boxed it all up, and got desserts. We had the chocolate lava cake dine in, and the carrot cake to go. The lava cake was fantastic! I ate almost all of it myself! Really good with thin little cookie under the ice cream. Nice! Carrot cake was good at home. I wonder if it's made there. The caramel sauce that accompanies it is tasty. They even gave us a box of truffles they make there on the way out. Bottom line. Great apps, fantastic desserts, terrible entree portion because of employee shortfalls. I get it, it's hard in Memphis to find good help. It's also a tough market to operate in as well. The clientele can be challenging as well. This leads me to my major beef.... Our server, who you may have noticed has been referred to as "they". This is not to incriminate them, not because they had pronoun need's. They made jokes, had funny stories, suggested things for us to try and things to avoid, and cared for us in a way that is unusual kind of greatness I am not used to in Memphis. They stole the show in my mind. Food is never the servers fault. Another couple was seated right behind us for dinner and they were also their server. I am a middle aged Caucasian male. The other couple were not, you fill in the blanks. The difference in how they spoke to us, and how they spoke to them was painfully different. It was grossly obvious they had disdain for them from the get go. It made me uncomfortable to hear them go from my table to theirs. If I could hear their conversation, they most certainly, could hear ours. Yuck! I heated the leftovers in a skillet and were able to mix the potatoes and finish off the steak once it was cooked a bit more. I did eat the to go carrot cake and it was good. Very disappointing visit to what I would've regarded as my favorite steakhouse in Memphis in my most recent trip home. After a long day of feeling unwell and depleted, I decided on this outing as a pick me up. Quickly, the nature of my evening shifted upon receiving a French dip order that was less than visually appealing with barely any cheese or onions as pictured on the company website. I sent the first order back and requested a remake which came within 6 minutes, likely using the same bread & meat from before. The website described "thinly sliced filet mignon" which couldn't have been farther from the actual product they delivered both times. It was overly salty, bland, and not a true French dip. I was going to order my usual chocolate lava cake dessert yet this flop made me depart asap. In addition to this, I was charged $30 for this entree yet the website lists the promotion for $19 which the hostess could firmed it also applied to dine in over the phone when I called prior to visiting. She said that she would change the rate yet but before rudely reiterating that the promotion was only for to-go. Bad food & service today along with irregularly cold temperature in the bar area. The seasonal Cabernet red onion compound butter was light and flavorful. The bread was fine, but not great. My salad was crisp and fresh, the steak was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. The Lobster Mac had strong taste of fish, rather than the sweet and milder aroma of lobster. Service was slow and refills on water almost nonexistent. Glasses and silverware were spotted/dirty; fruit flies were an annoyance; valet was sitting playing on phone as we were leaving and handed us our key but neglected to so much as open a door for me. Went Valentines Weekend to Flemings! The service was fantastic, multiple members of the stuff checked on us and were very attentive. All of the food came out quickly which surprised me for how busy it was. We started with bread and salads, the attention to detail was my favorite. The different types of butter served with the bread and the prosciutto and the capers on the Caesar really made these traditional dishes stand out. Both steaks had great flavor and were cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was one of my favorite sides of the night with how creamy it was. I enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and the baked potato but they both had a little too much seasoning. Each cocktail had great flavor with the perfect amount of sweetness to them. I suggest you make a reservation to enjoy the full dining experience. The wait for the table wasn't too long. I tried the bread and they offered two different types of butter. The one I had tasted like sour cream and onion with a little bit of added sugar. The waiter was nice, and knowledgeable about the menu. He took his time and waited on everyone to look over the menu before ordering. I ordered the Main Filet Mignon medium rare with a side of Chipotle cheddar Mac and cheese. The mignon was tender just how I like and the cutting through the meat was easy. It was well-seasoned and full of flavor. Was served herb butter ( solid butter sprinkled with dried green stuff) ! When I asked why the "bernaise " was solid the response was "we can melt that for you, if you would like". Sorry, but melting butter won't turn it into bernaise. Bread service has changed. Butters are the same and delicious. The bread is really, really sad. Loaf not sliced. Gummy, stale, and tough. So i hesitated between a 2 star and 3 star but ultimately I have to give my honest review. We came in tonight on Mother's Day (also happened to be our anniversary). We had a reservation and seating wise happened fairly quickly but then It went downhill very fast. Now we knew It would be busy but the food wait was no joke an hour long. 63 minutes to be exact. That is NOT ok. Our waitress was amazing and so accommodating as this is not on her, but this should have been told to us prior to seating. We would have 100% gone somewhere else as we had a babysitter and had a time limit. On top of that, we ordered the poke and the poke part was good but the crackers were stale. Good seasoning but tasted like they've been open for days. My filet was cold and It was just "ok". I did end up complaining to one of the managers and you could tell she's been hearing this all day and wasn't really sympathetic. On top of that, they were out of surf and turf which was disappointing, the option shouldn't have even been on the menu then, they should have pulled that little card out. The only positive was the end when our waitress brought us complimentary truffles. For the $250 that we spent, It was not worth It. Honestly kind of put a damper on our celebrations as we were just rushing to eat just to get home. Just so unfortunate as we don't get a chance to go out very often. Based on this experience, we are not planning to be back. read more

Very comfortable booths line the walls and clothed tables are in the middle. The servers are very professional and make the experience great. I got the Sunday Prefix selection.
