Saturday, March 28 took my wife and the family members out and we all went to LongHorn Steakhouse. I ordered my usual that I like is the Parmesan crust chicken with us sweet potato and asparagus. I forgot they had brussels sprouts cause their brussels sprouts are killer. And I actually I ordered their cheesecake with caramel sauce and it was excellent that cheese cheesecake watch killer. Find some time take your wife out for a beautiful dinner and a nice dessert the dessert actually you and your wife can share it and you'll be fine. We visited your North Riverside, IL location on 1/31/26 for a birthday dinner with a party of six. Overall, the service from our server and the assisting staff member was excellent. However, I was disappointed with how our leftover entrées were handled. My friend (the birthday guest) and I both ordered porterhouse steaks that we barely ate due to the appetizers. The entrée was $38.00 each. When we requested to-go boxes, we were provided containers that only fit our sides and appetizers. Management stated that the larger containers were only for to-go orders, despite the fact that we were preparing to leave. We were then told to cut the steaks up and put them into the smaller containers. Whatttt!!!! My steak had only one or two bites taken, and the other steak only two to three bites. Additionally, one of the steaks was not cooked as requested. I'm sure you know a porterhouse (or T-bone) does not fit into those small black containers. Is this only happening at this location given the area (I won't go into specifics yet)?! I'm not sure if this practice is specific to this location, as I have never experienced this issue at other LongHorn locations. Given how often we dine with and recommend this brand, this experience was surprising and disappointing. I wanted to share this feedback so it can be reviewed, and no one settles for this shttt. Giving this a 3 because our servers are always polite and the food is always cooked well. but man this place is DIRTY. we walked in, trash by the host stand is over flowing. we picked up 5 different menus and they all had food smeared on them, the host was nowhere to be found, and when we did get a table it was dirty. this all sounds like issues with hosts/ bussers. which is primarily their job to keep the restaurant looking tidy. great job servers and cooks! bussers and hosts: ESPECIALLY the hosts, you got to do better you have the easiest job in the house. read more

Watch this location as back in January a waiter claimed that he could not take more than one gift card. He made us put the remaining balance on another card and we discovered upon checking the balance of our gift card (in March) that our cards both had a zero balance. This was my 3rd visit to this steakhouse. He first visit was 5 stars for food and service. He next visit was a 3 for service and 4 for food. This past Tuesday (July 23), it was my birthday and I celebrated with my family. Greeting: When we arrived, I went to the hostess to put in our name. We had a party of 5. The hostess did not provide the normal friendly greeting. She was simply matter of fact and said that it would be a wait of 20-25 minutes. Almost as if she expected us to leave. Maybe she just received bad news or maybe it was a bad day, but she has to realize that this affects public perception. If I owned this restaurant, I would ensure that these people that are the first to greet customers understand how important it is to have a nice smile and make people feel welcome. She made me feel like we were intruding. On the other hand, our server was very nice, courteous, and had a great smile. He did a great job. We only had two issues with the food. One was that my wife ordered broccoli as a side dish and it never came out. We told them about it after the fact and the server apologized and brought out a double order for us to take home. The other issue was my steak which was to be cooked, medium rare. Unfortunately, it came out rare our server had to take it back to cook it further. With that said, the food we had tasted great. The steak needed no additional seasoning and our appetizers were delicious. Normally, I post pictures, but failed to do so this time through. Overall, I like the Longhorn steakhouse. We waited 30 minutes before we got sat, and they sat us at a dirty table and then forgot about us for another 20 minutes because they couldn't find our server and then we heard the staff gossiping about how they didn't know who our server was and nobody wanted us then I asked somebody to clean the table because there's food on it and I set my elbow in it. Then they proceeded to clean the table and then ignore us again. Finally get us a water and take our order at the same time and then our server disappears and the manager has to help us the rest of the night (BARELY) then we don't even get an apology for waiting so long or being ignored, but the table across from us who waited five minutes, got an apology and free stuff. I had to ask for a box and I didn't even get the check because they forgot about us so I just scanned the QR code. I tipped nothing which baffled ME because I always tip at least 20%+ at this restaurant. After complaining I got a free appetizer and no apology, isn't that lovely. Placed a phone order & pick up was fast and easy unlike some places. Merrillville location was buzzing and pretty busy but when I did get to the pickup part; the server was friendly, polite and efficient. I always try to check my order before leaving & they had Everything that was ordered including a small loaf of bread. The restaurant practices all COVID-19 protocols; it was clean inside and out. In town on business, just wanted a couple beers and dinner. Bar tender took my order on their VERY limited draft (and bottle) choices. She came back with the salad and it was drenched in dressing and was inedible, I guess should have ordered dressing on the side, but been going out for dinner a long time without thinking that it would be on the side. My bad. Dinner was okay, but I never seen her again until I was finished with the food. 18 minutes afterwards. Good thing I ordered water too. I got the mushrooms and onions as well as steamed broccoli. Both sides were good. The salad was average but the dressing was a bit excessive. It's my fault for asking to have the dressing in the side. Now, let's get to the steak. For $26, what can I expect from a bone in ribeye? Most fine dining steakhouses would charge $60. Was I just getting ripped off or is there a difference in quality? Well, I learned that you get what you pay for. The difference is the amount of marbling or fat. The higher quality ribeye has marbling but not every bite. I can't take away a star because of the quality of meat. It's fresh but it's not high quality. The chef didn't add any extra sauce. Just salt and pepper with lots of butter. Between the marbling, fat and butter, I felt so heavy and full. I actually didn't want to eat another bite towards the end. Don't get me wrong, it was a great steak, but a bit too fatty for me. For Thinsulin fans, there's plenty of green light options. I would come back here. read more

Longhorn is an OK steakhouse. You pay moderate prices and you get the commensurate mid grade steak quality. I had a 9 oz filet that was kind of shaped like the state of Texas I think (and I don't think it was deliberate). It wasn't the most tender filet, but of adequate quality. Longhorn is competitive with an Outback Steakhouse I would say. The decor is also fresh and nicely Texan, and that's a plus for Longhorn. Restaurant was pretty full at 6pm on a Sat evening. The wife had an OK $12 sirloin. The son had a filet/salmon surf/turf for $22, which was also in OK category though a little salty. read more

I had waited 15 minutes at my seat with no server ever stopping by. I saw a host seating someone and asked them if they could send a waitress my way and he was sorry nobody came and said he would get someone. Another 15 minutes pass and still nobody. Left and called the restaurants phone number and spoke to the very nice manager and she told me it was brought to her attention and she was very sorry and asked if we had wanted to come back and eat.
