The steaks are always good here. My filet was cooked to a perfect melt in your mouth medium rare and was seasoned very well. The salad was fresh and flavorful. I had asparagus which were cooked well and was delicious. The mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful. The lobster tail was good but a little on the small side. They didn't use it and left it empty and squashed us into two small tables next to each other. Why have a big table if your not going to use it. Not cool. I don't want to eat shoulder to shoulder. I paid for an 18 ounce steak and it wasn't anywhere close to 18 ounces. I get that it cooks off but not that much. Also it was tough and had a big vein of gristle. So we made a visit on 2022 Feb 23. We were seated at 7:40-7:50 PM and weren't even greeted by a waiter for, and I am by no means exaggerating, half an hour. One of us had to notify the hostess (or personnel standing at the front booth) that our waiter never greeted us. We were finally greeted, which is great. We still had a gap between the time our drink orders were taken and when we were returned for our actual meal orders..15 minutes. To be fair, it was a Friday night so I wasn't to fed up about it. Food arrived about 30 minutes later. I ordered the 6 oz Flo's Fillet in medium rare. While the meet did come out as medium-rare, it was far more on the dry side, but was still pink. Steamed broccolis were fine. Salad was fine. Food was adequate but not for what the pricing suggests (though I do understand the rise of meat prices). In essence, we were at the restaurant for nearly three hours, almost all of it was for waiting. Longhorn is an interesting chain steakhouse because they have this upscale cowboy decor and their food is a bit more classy than your normal joint (say Outback or Texas Roadhouse). This restaurant has a nice, comfortable decor and pretty dang tasty food! The steaks are a cut above Outback and Texas Roadhouse, and you'll pay a bit more but it's worth it. I also like their selection of sides -- where else can you get FRESH sauteed green beans? Yum! My only complaint would be the spotty service we received on 2 separate occasions. Our server wasn't very attentive, forgot to bring out the bread basket, didn't ask how our steaks were cooked....they need to focus a bit on improving their service but other than that, this place rocks! The food is DELICIOUS! Though I still haven't been able to try their salmon since they were out of it twice when I tried to order it. Went there Saturday late afternoon. Ordered mushroom appetizer. Just ok. Quality cheese just wasn't there. Parmesan breaded chicken. Just ok. Loaded with cheese. Starting the first part of December we tried ordering at least three times and I was on hold for at least 10 - 15 minutes each time and finally hung up with no order. Came back to give this place a second chance. I felt like that wasn't a great idea at all. We came and got seated immediately but I then I think we were forgotten about. We waited around 10-15 mins and there was no one to serve us. We had nothing to drink and no side bread what so ever. Everyone around us was enjoying their meals and dessert offers, but we just sat there like if we were invisible. Not only that but my table set had lipstick stains. My friend got mussels as appetizers, and it looked nothing like the picture. That wasn't the first thing I noticed though, the first thing I notice or should I say my nose notice was the smell of the sea food when they raised the bowl that was trapping the scent in. It tasted better than it look and smelled. I ordered the blue wedge salad and the prime rib. The blue wedge salad came as one whole lettuce chopped in half. I had to cut my salad in pieces to eat it...it was a unique way of working and eating a salad. Strong real blue cheese taste, so that's a plus. The prime rib was really meh...the meat wasn't that tender at all and it was tasteless. I had to add salt to it because the sauce that came with it tasted like some kind of weird soup. LongHorn Steakhouse is our go-to anytime we get a craving for steak. We've been here enough times that we even have a favorite server and will request Tyler W. if he's on shift during our visit. I don't deviate much when I order here for entrées, though we do switch it up with appetizers and love it when there are coupons for $5 Wild West shrimp. I basically stick to the 6 oz. renegade sirloin medium rare with garlic mashed potatoes and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. I tried the fries once, but they weren't anything too special. Everything is fairly consistent, but there was one instance where the salad seemed a bit wilted and wasn't enjoyable to eat. Also, a change in the type of serving dish within the last few months for the salad made it harder to mix the dressing, croutons, and cheese together evenly. We stopped in a couple of weeks ago and were sat with a new server, whose name I think was Keisha. She was super sweet and enjoyable to chat with, and was the best thing about that particular dining experience. I'd ordered a Summer Ale and was in the midst of enjoying it when another staff member dropped a chair on our table, shattering my beer and essentially drenching me. The management handled the situation as graciously as they could by comping our meals (but charging me for the beer, because Utah laws. I didn't even want a new one after having it dumped all over me) and providing an additional coupon we could use on our next visit. I've not been back since that incident, but it's by no means something I think you should expect on a normal visit. I only mentioned it because I felt that management did all they could to try to make our visit as comfortable as possible after the mishap. Hmmmmm where to start. Hostess was very nice, helpful, got our drinks ( there dr. pepper is not dr. pepper) and put in the appetizer since they had two waitresses on duty and both had tons of tables. Ordered their crab and shrimp dip which was bland but the fried pita chips were pretty good. Took along time to get our salads but they were decent for a Cesar. Awh the entree; ribeye steak with Mac and cheese, asked for my steak to be cook med rare and it was literally RAW. So gross plus it had so much tendons and fat couldn't even cut it, I was disgusted, tried to eat the outer part of the steak but it was so over seasoned I could barely choke it down after three bites I couldn't do anymore and pushed it to the side. The waitress asked what was wrong with it? I said; "Take a look, does that look med rare to you?" She said no let me go talk to my manager. They removed the meal off my check but um I will NEVER go here again! So I find myself at the LongHorn in Midvale at least once a month, and I'm usually the youngest person in the joint. The Sophie's Choice of LongHorn I have to make right as I sit down: An appetizer ... or a dessert. If you're like me you can't pack bread, an app, the big dinner, THEN a dessert on top of that, it's a choice you'll have to make. Unfortunately, LongHorn does both really well. Fried green tomatoes, Wild West shrimp, and steakhouse seasoned wings ... I love you all. Their loaded baked potato soup is to DIE FOR. It's a creamy, bacon-y bowl of heaven that actually tastes exactly like a baked potato. Obviously, their meat and potatoes is ... well, MEAT. You can't go wrong with the prime rib, New York strip, and Outlaw Ribeye are my usual go-to steaks. I also LOVE their BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger. "WTF?!?!?" you say? Well, usually, if you know steak, you also know burgers. LongHorn is no exception. It's amazing and, like their steak, cooked to your desired level of burn. Now, dessert. I had never tried their Chocolate Stampede until the Yelp event. It is awesome ... six different types of chocolate in a thick, rich triangle of chocolaty wonderment. Be warned: This is a two person job. Strawberries and Cream Shortcake is my favorite. Sweet and rich with a great strawberry sauce that soaks perfectly into the spongy shortcake. Warning (I imagine for any LongHorn): Go early. The place packs in the AARP crowd around 5:30. Oldies or not, LongHorn is worth it for the goodies on the menu. read more

Keep in mind this is for a large group. 10 adults and 4 kids. This experience has been absolutely ridiculous. Our group called ahead of time and they didn't take reservations which is fine. It's 50/50 with places on weekends. Our group arrived at 7:00pm and was told we would be seated by 7:30, not bad considering the size and it's a Saturday night. We saw 3 large groups arrive before us an were seated ( 8+ people in size ), interesting. 8:10 someone tells us that 2 large groups just started eating their food and they would do there best to... speed it up so we can be seated. This is a just a quick update. I've pasted my original review below, but had to downgrade them to 4 stars. They took their calamari off the menu. .............. Loved it here. It got a quick five star review because of their calamari. I had been looking for something to replace the gap in my life since Mr. Tikis closed down. This appetizer does the trick. They are perfectly fried and sized. The sauce is sweet and spicy, just right. There is a big chance the people in here will get sick of seeing my face stuffed with squid. I really enjoyed the ambience as a whole. Our server was nice and prompt. It wasn't ultra bright and the booths were spacey and private enough. They had a decent kids handout which kept my seven year old tolerable for the whole meal. We played tic tack toe, did mazes and played some strange version of mad libs that didn't quite work. If you come here for the steak. Good job. The steak is perfect here. Oh, it's not like some dry age aficionado's paradise, but it is the best you'll get for under 50$ a slab. Wow! This is the most horrible experience yet. Called ahead to make sure they could accommodate or provide reservation for our large group. We were told to be there at 6:45pm on a weekday. We came early and were present by 6:30 in case early seating was possible. I sat at bar for an hour drinking a beer and waiting. Staff was running full speed, no lollygagging going on, but there were just too many customers and not enough wait staff. I got up to check on our reservation status and was told by the obnoxious girl that she had no idea how much longer because both the large tables were filled with people taking their time and not leaving. She said it could be another 10 minutes or 45 minutes. We finally got seated- 2 hour wait. They broke our group up into two tables. Sucked. It was my last night in town and the dinner was suppose to allow us to visit. Oh.., and the big table was empty!?! Food was okay -average. Bread was bad compared to Texas Roadhouse. Not worth the time you have to wait. Our staff came around only once to check on us. Not going back. Why put yourself through this sort of abuse for mediocre. read more

My wife and I returned to have a final holiday family celebratory dinner for my son and his return to his Army base the next day, accompanied by his sweetheart, on Friday night, and we all left satisfied and pleased with the food and service from this establishment. We used the Longhorn Steakhouse app to get on the waiting list (which was 35+ minutes or more), and upon our arrival, we went to the bar and ordered drinks. After about 10 minutes there at the bar, our pager went off and we were seated in a booth near the front door. Our foursome ordered the Surf & Turf (wife), grilled salmon (son's sweetheart), Porterhouse steak (son), and I had the 16 oz. prime rib. All the meals came with a salad (which we all enjoyed), and we had the "Tonion" appetizer (which was so-so...not as good as the blooming onion from The Outback Steakhouse, IMHO.) Everyone really enjoyed their meal and my prime rib was pretty damned good considering. It was thick, lean (almost like a Filet Minion in texture?), and came with some perfect creamy horseradish sauce. For a chain restaurant, Longhorn does a damn fine job with food quality, selection, and prompt service. Kudos to Courtney for great service and providing us with the military discount (based upon my son's ID card...and my old Army Reserve card from 1987!) The problem with LongHorn is that they are inconsistent, and this one in particular is easily one of the most disorganized I've ever dined at. It should be pretty formulaic to order a ribeye and expect a piece of decent quality meat, not one completely riddled with gristle and fat. Who would seriously serve that? Better yet, who would eat it and why? Parmesan crust on a steak was more like a melted blob. The hostess was overwhelmed with a few parties, the waitress yelled at the hostess for seating folks in her section, and I'm pretty sure we got served salads that had been sent back to the kitchen.
