Disappointed in the last couple visits. I always request my shrimp cooked extra or well done, NOT translucent. Sometimes it is like it got missed and what I get is like raw to me. May be golden on the outside but the shrimp are still translucent - which to me is just a step up from raw. I had to take them home and finish cooking them. Today I very clearly requested they be well done and it even said well done - with a smiley face on the container. Obviously my idea of well done differs from yours. They were barely golden brown and closer to raw than they have been before. I am not sure I will go there again if they can not listen to the customers request and prepare the food as requested. What a cute find in the middle of no where! Would've been 5 stars if my steamers weren't over cooked, my side of onion rings a little skimpy for the price and the kitchen a little slow for a small crowd. What I love the most about this place is the friendly staff and the amazingly clean facility, including the bathrooms. Wow... I seriously have never seen a hole-in-the-wall type restaurant so well taken care of! Went at lunch time. We had a few cheeseburger boxes for my kids. Quality of burger was good, French fries were plentiful and the pineapple coleslaw... yummm! There was enough food for them to save and eat the rest for dinner. Also had a fried clam box, steamers and onion rings. The batter on rings and clams was light, crispy and flavorful. I spend a lot of time at my Nana's summer house in Wells. I will definitely visit Lord's again this summer. Can't wait to try more off of their HUGE menu. read more

Had the lobster Mac and cheese. Lots of chunks of lobster. It was very buttery, which I like but some might not. Also had the fried pickles...the best I have had so far. The workers have a better attitude than the owner. I've felt this on prior visits, but this trip will be the last! I noticed they had fried oysters. The Mrs. Owner was behind the counter, so I decided to ask her rather than staff "Are you able to sell me one fried oyster so I can try it?" "We can't do that! We'd be here all day." Well, you can do that and you can charge what you think would be a reasonable amount! By the way, aren't you already "there all day"? The employee behind the counter then told me "We do sell a side order which has about as many oysters in it as an oyster roll order." Okay, now that's more of a caring answer and attitude toward your customers answer. Good job and kudos to this worker; terrible attitude by ownership. Didn't see the oyster side on the menu, so I'm not sure what the price, but the oyster roll was $8 ... I didn't want to try an oyster for $8. I probably would have paid $3 to $4 to try a fried oyster. Won't go back though. We went to try the chowder, which our daughter has raved about. Meh ... Had it for the first time today. I'm from out of town and my local girlfriend convinced me to try it. Great clamcake burger. Pickles are really good. Made in house? Seemed like it. Bacon was dry, bread was crumbly. Great staff. Asked for a recommendation on cheese, they were happy to oblige. Good side of the road place. For 6 items it was 30 bucks. Not horrible. But could be priced better. Understandable though due to seafood. Overall 3 out of 5 simply because if I'm in the area I'll eat there again. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. I was so unhappy the menu. Is very confusing for the first time visitor. I asked the young lady at the register to explain and advise what I was hoping to order. What I wanted was 2 orders of the medium sized scallops. I asked what came with the order. I was told I would receive was coleslaw, & french fries, with the medium order of scallops. I also ordered 2 med soft drinks. I then ordered the 2 meals. I paid 52.00. Which was a little bit of a shock for this med lunch for 2. We are two 75+ seniors looking to enjoy a good lunch. We did wait a reasonable amount of time for the meal. To our surprise what we got was a cardboard bowl just scallops. I went to the counter to inquire about the fries & coleslaw. the young lady abruptly told me I did not order fries and then offered no effort to fix this mistake in her ordering our lunch. At $52.00 I do not think this establishment would lose a thing but a potato & two small servings of coleslaw. come on, no apology, no offer to make it right, no courtesy. I feel the inexperience, and youth, of this young lady was very disturbing, by not being supervised or at least she did not have the simple thought to ask a manager for advise. She did not know how to handle the issue of a mistaken order of your cashier. I was clear I wanted the fries and coleslaw with the scallops. Unless, the Management is a tyrant which caused her fear to make a decision to even ask for advice to do what is right to how to fix this mistake. Either way, this experience has caused me to never recommend or go back to Lord's Clam Box. I go to Lord's because the food is good, the food comes out super fast, the service is impeccable, and it is the cleanest restaurant I have ever been to. I really feel the owner should write a book on service and cleanliness. Watch out Zingerman's! I also love the containers for the food, the utensils, napkins, and even the to-go ketchup packets. I know that all sounds weird but they sure put in extra thought and spend extra money on those fine details which is why they have won me over. Plus it is a great burger and fries. read more

I live up the road, so I have been there several times. Pros: Every time you walk in your spirits will be lifted a notch by the smiling faces and the warm welcomes of the staff. This has to be the friendliest group in the state. Keep up the good work! Food quality, the Lord family obviously knows thier way around fish. I have yet to have a morsel of food at Lord's that wasn't great. (If you want to get the best quality at any fish place, stay away from take out if you can. Fresh from the kitchen is always best) Cons: I have only had one negative experience here, I got a lobster roll for lunch one day, and it was extremely lacking in lobster. It almost looked like most of what was put in the roll fell right out. Hopefully it was an isolated foible in the busy kitchen. And, for the record, the scallops can be prepared broiled rather than breaded and fried if you prefer. read more

Definitely not fresh seafood as they claim. Had the lobster roll which was obviously previously frozen(They claim its handpicked daily) Wife had clam strips. Those were way over fried. It is a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion. I have had the fisherman's platter a couple times and the portion and quality was great. If you want to go budget get a scallop or clam roll and the smallest fry and you'll be around 10 bucks. Smallest chowder isn't bad for a few bucks either. read more

In all my times of coming to Lord's I've never had a bad experience. Service here is always quick and friendly and the place is always very clean for both the indoor and outdoor seating. I've tried many different meals here from seafood (clam strips and fried calamari) to the chicken tenders, burgers, and fries. All the food is great whether you want seafood or not. This is my family's go to spot anytime someone in the family wants to go out for seafood and we strongly recommend this place to anyone because the menu has many more options than the name makes it sound. read more

Very disappointing... placed a large order online, I asked if they had gravy because I was craving F.F. W/ gravy. However, Mainers actually call it poutine but not being originally from here I just refer to it as above. So the girl on the phone says no we have no gravy. Bummed I continued on to go pick up my order. I get there and their is a pic at the register with Ff W/ gravy. I said oh you do have ff w/ gravy. Because when I called I asked if you had any gravy bc that was exactly what I was looking for. I said well I have been craving it so can I have an order of it. Rather than give the upmost customer service I asked how long and she said another 20 minutes as my 82.00 plus order sits. I declined as everyone was home waiting. Food was not great, tasted very bland and it was all soggy. ( I'm taking into consideration because it was to go and in the containers that it became so soggy) The soup was very good. I've heard that they have started having meal deals which is why I am giving them a three instead of a two. When I went they were only serving a la carte and that made for a very expensive meal. Unfortunately I prefer my fried foods without condiments and I think most of their food is made with the intention of using salty condiments. I found the chicken tenders, fried shrimp and fried haddock (bites?) to be lacking in seasoning. They either needed something added to the batter or after the fact. The fried pickles were great, but of course pickles come already seasoned. Also the french fries were okay on the seasoning side. read more
