We really enjoyed our experience at Loretta. The food and the service were great. But what we enjoyed most was the atmosphere of hospitality and the interactions with the staff. It's a kind of place where locals go, and they are greeted with warm smiles and even hugs. We got a chance to meet the owner, which was very nice, and had a great conversation with him. Holy! The Build Your Own Burger is top notch. It comes with a pickle, tomato, lettuce and fries or chips. I recommend getting this heavenly burger medium rare. My brother is 6 now and off the kids menu, we got him chicken tenders. He said he would give it infinity stars. I had a bite and it was really good! I recommend coming here for the best food ever! Had dinner there Sunday night. Was greeted pleasantly and offered my choice of seating. She was nice enough to offer me the back area as I was having dinner with a friend I hadn't seen in a bit. We had lunch at Loretta yesterday. We were seated by the window, good people-watching, and the atmosphere is old-world Europe with a contemporary slant. The beer list included some good craft beers but a bit heavy on IPAs I would say. Mimsy got a Cuban sandwich, I got the French Dip. We up-ordered from chips to fries. The lunch arrived very quickly and it was very good, especially the fries, don't you just hate getting served soggy fries? These were nice crispy shoestrings. We shared a bread pudding dessert, served with vanilla ice cream, man it was good. The server was a little bit absentee, given the slow pace of lunch. Overall a good lunch was had. read more

We LOVE Loretta Restaurant. It is our favorite go to for a girl's luncheon, a romantic dinner, or a dinner out with friends. The food is superb, we have never had anything but delicious mouth watering lunches and dinners. The meals are made to order and you can ask for special care for allergies. We have never been rushed so the table can turn over! The wait staff is personable and a pleasure. I highly recommend a visit and a meal, if you do you will come back! Of the many reviews I've written over the years, I can hardly recall giving 5 stars to one. Loretta was fantastic! Every dish was superb. Clam chowder had more clams than any chowder I've eaten in the last 50 yrs! Flavor and texture was also perfect. The crispy Brussels were perfectly cooked - so good they didn't need the sauce. I had the swordfish special - while I normally avoid ordering swordfish due to its usual dryness, I decided to try this one and am so glad i did! It was perfectly grilled without any dryness, a light capers sauce, perfectly textured asparagus, and the tastiest mashed potato! I usually don't like mashed, but this was outstanding. My son had the salmon - I didn't even bother tasting his cuz I ate every bite of my swordfish. The service was also amazing - attentive but not overly so. The managers checked on us twice - even turned down the AC just cuz I was rubbing my arms. Even the ambiance and vibe were great. Highly recommended! read more

First time eating at Loretta in Newburyport and it did not disappoint. We did not have a reservation, but luckily they had a table inside available and took us right in. Our waitress Fiona, was fantastic! She was sweet, knowledgeable about the menu, provided great service and treated us like we were family. Overall the experience was great, even though we could not get a table outside the ambiance of the indoor dining was just as good as outside. We had the shrimp scampi, steak frites and the halibut special, which were all delicious. We'll be back again to try more of the great looking items on the menu. Found this place just by looking at Yelp reviews and decided to try it. Walked in and found the ambience very relaxing and inviting. No loud music and communication was very easy. Our waitress was very nice and visited us just the right amount of times. I had a Sweater Weather drink which was ok. Our food came very quickly and it was great. I had a very large piece of prime rib which I couldn't finish. It was cooked just right and very tasty. I got mashed potatoes and green beans with it that were also very good. It was too much food for me and I have a big appetite. My wife got pork scaloppini which was out of this world good. I tasted it too and it had to be one of the most delicious dishes we have ever had. Definitely the food is great which really is the only reason to go to a restaurant. The prices were in line with other restaurants for those kinds of meals. We told our waitress that it was my birthday and she ended up giving us a dessert to take home for free. I would definitely go back. Very nice restaurant and it is open on Mondays and Tuesdays. read more

We went here for dinner Monday night on our way back from Maine and it was awesome. I got sangria and it was the perfect summer fruit sangria. For dinner my husband got the Spaghetti and Meatballs (Monday Night Special) and I got a Caesar Salad with Grilled Colossal Shrimp (and these shrimp were definitely colossal). It was one of the best Caesar Salads with Grilled Shrimp that I have ever had, especially when I squeezed some lemon juice on it. We sat outside because it was such a beautiful night and our delicious dinner made it even better. Our waitress was very friendly and the owner came around to ask everyone how their meals were and to chat with some regulars. It's such a nice family owned restaurant. I have the hot and spicy martini also very good. Service was on point and no issue. I thought the venue was a little loud inside but it was a packed house last night. Four stars, I'll be real with everyone here, great experience. The service was excellent very inviting and relaxed dining experience. I personally got the Loretta burgie cooked medium, nothing new here, fries were superb thin and crispy just how I like them. Burger was great juicy and all but a tiny bit fry around the edges, I'm gonna be a stickler for $17. Jam and bun were great loved what it brought to the table, pun intended. I also tried the burrata ravioli tings, they were pretty damn good loved the sauce very light but bold and when it hit my tongue it would run across my tongue like a cool summer haze. Little too much cheese on the pasta I feel like it should be a thing where they come over and you tell them when, the cheese got super stuck together but it didn't take away from the flavor which is the important part. Walking around Newburyport on the 4th of July with our dog, too hot to leave him in the car so a friend and I decided to order lunch "to go" here. I have dined here before they moved to this current location and thought they were pretty good. We ordered the blackened salmon tacos and the grilled chicken summer salad. My friend was overheated so asked the bartender for a glass of iced water while she waited inside (and me outside with the dog) for the order. She happily obliged. We were quoted about 10 minutes and during the wait, my friend asked if she could have a small cup of water for the dog. Once again the bartender happily obliged with a to go soup contained with iced water. It took between 10 and 15 minutes for the order to be prepared. We sat on the benches just down the hill from the restaurant. There were two tacos with kettle chips. The tacos had a nice spicy kick but there wasn't a lot of salmon. The grilled chicken was tender and portion very reasonable. It contained blueberries, raspberries, watermelon, diced cucumbers, sliced cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and baby spinach with lemon vinaigrette dressing. We give the food a solid 4, value a 4 and service a 5. read more
