My boyfriend ordered the lobster eggs Benedict and had the most awful food poisoning with symptoms that lasted for a week straight. He called the restaurant to let them know (not even to complain, he just wanted to alert them!!!) and they were not sympathetic whatsoever, didn't even apologize. The first time we went to this restaurant the food was great! I had the blueberry pancakes. This recent visit was not so good! The crepes were awful and when I let the waitress know, she did offer me something else but since we were all finished eating when she asked, I said no thanks. We should have given us a discount on the meal but they didn't. The waitress agreed with me that the butter was left out of the fridge and tasted bad to her. That is never a good thing! Went shopping at the Camarillo Outlets. Very lucky to have happened upon Loru's Cafe. First time here. Ordered the California Club. It was tasty and so big I was able to split it and was still very satisfied. Bread was perfectly toasted. Fries piping hot. Server automatically placed it on two dishes for us as he heard we wanted to split it. Service was fast, attentive, and friendly. Ambiance was very pleasant. Next time I'm at the Outlets I'm coming back. I know this sounds too good to be true and you think it's a fake review, but it's not. We were very impressed and happy. I really enjoyed Eggs Benedict breakfast, and hubby enjoyed his Huevos Rancheros. We both managed to wipe our platters clean. Service was excellent, super friendly smiles - really nice vibe. We really appreciated the extra carafes of hot coffee so we could top ourselves up. When I was a kid, and growing up, a diner breakfast was not something we had to think hard about before indulging in. I visited for Mother's Day with three moms in my family and had a lovely time. The food was delicious! They have an excellent selection and even a vegan burger which I ordered and devoured. Our server Xochitl and the staff were all very attentive and even gifted the mothers in our group roses, it was a wonderful gesture. However our food did take an extra length of time to come out while we had no modifications and tables sat after us received food before us. To be honest we didn't notice the extra wait until our server apologized and we realized those around us were nearly finished. Maybe they lost the ticket. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would come again to experience the ambiance on a day that isn't as bustling as Mother's Day. Ps. The onion rings are bomb!! read more

I was at Lorus 2 weeks ago for breakfast since I've heard pretty good recommendations at this place, so I decided to try it out. After we ate, I thought it was a typical breast that's kind of up there in price. Worst place in Camarillo!! Had Easter breakfast there and I ordered Ortega cheese omelet with crispy bacon! The omelet had no cheese inside and they slapped a piece of sliced cheese on top. The bacon was limp and undercooked she took it back and it was so gross looking and tasted like weird so I asked if they put in the fryer and she's said yes so disgusting!! Recently visited the outlets with a friend and picked Loru's because from the outside it looked like a decent sit down place as opposed to the other fast food type places. The food was ok...you can tell it's not freshly made, a lot of microwaved stuff. But the decor....the fake flowers on the tables really make it look cheap. The floors were sticky. This place had a lot of reviews and recommendations. Right after joining the waitlist (which was literally 8mins) we parked and checked in, our table was ready. Fast and attentive service from our server who was very on top of it. Bottomless mimosas were delicious, our server was really attentive and made sure to keep them coming! The food was excellent, my husband and loved his chicken fried steak. I really enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with Clam Chowder. Came here based on yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The service is so friendly and fast, the restaurant is cute with lots of seating inside and out. I ordered the poblano eggs Benedict and it was outstanding. A little spicy which I love! I had the home fries crispy and they were a delight. My husband ordered the huevos rancheros with hash browns. After looking at their menu and watching the food videos on the big TV , I decided to bring my wife back for date night dinner. Big Mistake! I ordered the Ribeye, medium rare. She ordered the salmon. We ordered an appetizer too, chicken wings. The wings came out at the same time as the dinner. They were smothered in hot sauce. Inedible. The steak, which looked nothing like the picture, and was priced higher than the website , was charred to a crisp and tasted awful. It was thin and didn't appear to be 12 0zs like listed. The broccoli side was cold on both plates. The salmon was previously frozen and tasted like cardboard. No tarter sauce. We also ordered sautéed mushrooms. They were canned, with no butter or garlic. My wife ordered Chardonnay which was also terrible and terribly overpriced. Surprisingly the 2 Coors lights in bottles that I ordered were only thing that was good. The food was terrible. The staff doesn't know what they're doing. I sent an email to management asking them to make things right, but I got no reply. I won't be back. I suggest that you eat dinner anywhere else but here. My son led us there for brunch based on his Yelp research--he and his wife and my 16 month granddaughter had equally glowing smiles for the food and attentive service. The very first time we came here, they sat us down with no water, menu, napkins or silverware. We left after 15 minutes of nobody acknowledging us. We decided to give them a second chance, and we are so glad that we did. We came by on a Friday evening, but since it was about 7:50, and they close at 8:00, we were going to leave. Someone who works there noticed this, and called us back and told us that they'd be happy to wait on us. Our server was Regi, and he was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious, and we have been back several times. I'm already looking forward to our next visit. I have not had a single thing here that I didn't like, but I must say that my favorite so far has been the country fried steak. Yummy!! I like how they decorate the restaurant for every holiday.
