Dad had the pollo loco, his rice was overcooked on the hot sear but the pollo was good. Service was alright. Had a large group in for lunch and they were both attentive and quick. They feature a decent sized menu with a lot of options for a fair value. I opted for the taco salad and it was decent. The staff weren't knowledgeable about the men and the food wasn't as good as it is at the other location. Let's start with the service, our waitress was also seating folks, so slowness was acceptable. She was still very kind and attentive as she could be. The food was absolutely terrible. Side tamale - unpleasantly sweet with a slight taste of something burnt in the sauce. 3 bites and put it aside. Nope. Green enchiladas. Meh. Not bad. Just tolerable. Wouldn't seek it out again. Steak fajitas. One of the most common, simplest dishes and this place 100% flubbed it. It was literally almost completely onions and green peppers. There was a minuscule amount of meat that looked like almost ground meat the pieces were so small, and all of it was utterly tasteless. We absolutely would not give this place a 2nd chance. Being a California native, Maryland does NOT have authentic Mexican food. I've been living in Maryland for 3 years and have given up on Mexican food all together until coming here today. Los Amigos Restaurant has authentic Mexican food! My entire family was satisfied. The decor was also authentic to Mexican restaurants back home and I enjoyed the music playing too. I would definitely come back here and eat again. We ordered chicken and steak fajitas. Trio enchiladas. Red enchiladas. Mar y tierra. For desert we had flan and Xango. The xango was AMAZING. My partner and I frequent this location at least once or twice a week. Every time we come, our service is usually very poor but we continue coming back due to the food and drink specials. (We have had wonderful service though from DeShanti I believe was her name) After this evening, we will not be returning. We sat on the patio as usual, got our margaritas and our server said he would be right back to take our order. 15min goes by, I walk inside to see if he's around. Nobody is on the dining room floor so I just go back to the table to continue waiting. The table next to us is also looking for their server, no where to be found even after also going inside. 25min has now gone by, so we leave cash on the table for our drinks and leave. As we are walking out, our server is now standing at the host stand with two other employees, chatting and carrying on. He does not say a word as we are walking out. I would excuse the wait time if the restaurant was busy, but it was not at all. There are plenty of other options in Hagerstown and we will be pursuing those instead. read more

Went here for dinner yesterday. Upon pulling into the parking lot, there's a giant sign advertising happy hour. Draft beer is 1/2 price Monday through Friday, 4 to 7 PM, the sign said. It was Friday at 5 pm, so I ordered a medium draft beer. It came out as ordered. Upon getting our check, I noticed I was charged full price for the beer. The waitress told me that the sign might say Monday through Friday, but it's only Monday through Thursday and they need to change it. She didn't offer to fix the price, and I wouldn't have ordered it in the first place if I knew I was going to pay $7.50 for a mass produced lager. I won't be back. read more

The service was okay not to shabby but we asked the waiter for some extras as limes or no toppings on the tacos and she forgot and even said she didn't remember even though we even told her and notified her when ordering, and telling us if we hadn't told her and it was our fault! As well I order birria tacos and they were so dry and had no flavor as birria tacos should and the tortilla was even crunchy which birria tacos need lots of good flavor as we tried them in many more places for example "plaza Mexico" in Frederick MD have the best birria tacos and food FYI! Party of 3. We ordered Street Tacos, Fish Tacos, and Chicken Fajitas. Pork Taco was very good. Steak Taco was awful. Dried up like jerky. Not edible. The fish tacos were very lacking in flavor. Not what we are use to as far as fish tacos go. The chicken fajitas were on a skillet and burnt to the skillet and very overcooked and dry. The salsa and nachos were the best part of the meal. Very good salsa without a lot of spice. The service was very good and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. They have outdoor seating too which is a nice perk. I think the food was all overcooked. If they can get that corrected the food would be much better. Prices were pretty good and the menu is very large, lots of choices. read more

This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant in Hagerstown, but this past visit was not up to the quality I'm used to. I talked with the manager and the waitress was new, but that did not excuse her unhelpful, argumentative attitude when the dish she brought was not as I had ordered. (Is "no sour cream and add a little extra guac in its place" really that difficult?) After getting tired of waiting for the salsa refill we asked for, I finally went to the kitchen to ask for it myself. Strike 1. Then the waitress brought my meal that was not as I had ordered. (it had sour cream) Strike 2. When I told her it was wrong, she said "well this is the way it comes" as if the order she took down didn't exist. Strike 3. What??? So I wasn't interested in wasting my time with her about this, so I asked to speak with the manager. Then she stiffened up and challenged me on that -- "why do you want to see the manager?" Strike 4. I simply repeated my request and I saw her go to him and obviously defended herself as she said I wanted to see him. Strike 5. He took his good old time coming over to the table. Strike 6. He apologized for the error and said he would bring another plate. She came back with a second plate -- which was also wrong. (no pico) Strike 7. Again, no apology, no offer to fix it; she just stood there, clueless. Strike 8. Since the first plate was still there and had the missing item on it, I just scraped the pico off of the old plate onto the new plate while she just stood there. Strike 9. Then she took the plate away that the manager had left (with accompaniments, lettuce, etc). Strike 10. Then I opened the tortillas, and they were flour when I had asked for corn and I just laughed and ignored it. Strike 11. When we thought it was all over, even the ink pen she brought to sign the payment was defective -- the cartridge wouldn't come out of the body to write. Strike 12. So we used our own pen to sign it and just wanted to get the heck out of there. Before I left, I spoke with the manager (owner?) and explained everything that had happened. He listened, but never offered any compensation for the fiasco. Strike 13. Who knows, maybe the waitress is a relative and I wasted my breath with him, too. So, the sound system was so loud when we first got there that we could not hear ourselves talk, so I asked the manager and they (finally) turned it down. (strike 14?) The food was good, as usual (altho there was a piece of hair in the rice (which, by then, I just removed and ignored) -- Strike 15?), but the service and the management are definitely lacking. Twelve plus strikes in one visit?? -- that's enough to cover at least 4 "out"ings. It was so bad that it was almost funny -- from start to finish. You can't make this stuff up! At least the margarita was good, so kudos to the bartender!! So, since I've been going there for years, I will give it one more shot and if it repeats, I'll just go to my old standby in Greencastle, the El Sombrero, where the food and people are always great. We wanted a margarita, so we went to Hagerstown. I hope your experience is better than ours! UPDATE: DO NOT GO HERE -- THEY ARE DISHONEST, TOO !! We just checked our credit card charges and they OVERCHARGED the bill by 25% that we did NOT authorize. They added over $15 to the bill, so BEWARE AND CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD BILL -- or just don't go there so you don't have to worry about it. It makes me wonder how many others don't check their credit card bills and don't catch their little ploy. STRIKE 16 --WE'RE OUT!! We live in the Westfields Community off of Sharpsburg Pike, and when we first had our house built, there was no where close by to eat.. It's nice not to have to drive across town to get dinner.. . Now, we have an excellent Mexican Restaurant 3 miles down the road. The food is great, the Margaritas are to DIE for!!!!! The STAFF that work there has always been super sweet to us... Very disappointed!! Upon arrival we did not receive the chips and salsa that everyone receives, had to ask for a drink two times, and had not silverware. We had to wait for another tables food to be delivered to receive silverware. Paid our bill and left a 20% tip. Upon review of our bank account we noticed there was a charge for our bill and an additional charge for $35.12. The manager was contacted and all information was given. He stated he would "look" and return a call. The following day I contacted the manager to see where we were with getting a refund. He stated he attempted to return my call, he did not. I had no missed call on my call log. He then stated they would not be refunding the charge because he could not find it. I had to contact my bank to dispute the charge. Chips and Salsa came within 2 minutes, Our Server greeted us And she was Lovely really, I Ordered the Chili Colorado Because It Sounded Good. we waited for about 20 minutes For Our food which given how Busy they were was a Fine amount of time, Our food Came and The plate looked Great, Except for the Hair in my Food. It was IN THE FOOD Not on the Side, It was not a Tiny Piece it was In the thing, So The waitress came over and I told her, She was Mortified And I told her Look You Have No Control Over the Kitchen, She said Let me take it And we will make you a new one, I said Ok because we had Time, 4 minutes go by and She set's a Plate down an says how does this look, It was the Same Plate as before because the Beans were pushed up which I did To keep the Hair out of Them, I said Ok and she said something about taking Off something for My Inconvenience, Firstly.. They didn't remake my meal they Put the Meat and such back in a pan and heated it up, that's it.. and Gross.
