Food was good. The service was good, but it could have been better. The ambience was great and made the place feel very welcoming. The hot chocolate was disappointing because it tasted like plain milk. The conchas were delicious . We had reservations for 11:30am. The host argued with us about what time we set our reservations for. We waited for an hour before finally leaving. We added ourselves to the waitlist at 12:18. Didn't get a table til 1:30. It is 3:15 and we still haven't gotten our food. I don't understand why the wait is so ridiculously long. The service is horrible! I waited 2 hours and 30 minutes and only got my drinks served. Whoever is running that kitchen needs help. The waitress never checked on us nor bothered to give us any update on the food. It wasn't until I asked for the ticket for the drinks that she apologized for the delay and told us not to worry about the cost. read more

If I could give this place a half to none Star I would. I always love to support my local community businesses however after visiting this place with my Girlfriend for brunch to say the least, i would never come back here again. You go out for 1-great food 2-great service. I truly don't care about what a restaurant looks like as long as the food and service meets my expectations, which is not much. The place was not busy at the time of our arrival at most only 3 tables with customers were at the entire restaurant. After placing our order we had to waite 1 house for a simple chilaquiles. The food was not that great, it was served cold and the waiter would not even come to check on us to see if we needed anything else or refill our coffee. to say the least I would never come back here again. I have done some research on this restaurant and found out that the owner is (was) not paying his employees wages. Back in November the employees had a protest outside the restaurant for their equal rights. Shame on the owner of this restaurant for treating his employees poorly. An open door is going to be a closed door sooner or later. I recommend for anyone who is considering to come to this restaurant to drive away because you well regret it. read more

The decor is beautiful and the mariachis are awesome. We walked in and waited 10 minutes for the hostess to come to the stand to check us in. They take your drink order but then it takes a very long time to take your order and get your food. I am not sure why the waitstaff doesn't come by more often. We were there for 2 hours and 25 minutes. The majority of the time we were waiting for our food and then waiting at then end for someone to come charge us. There was a long line out the door, but despite being done, we couldn't leave and have the table go to someone else because they wouldn't bring our tab (we flagged a couple of staff down). This is the second time my husband and I have been to Los Chilaquiles for dinner in one week. We loved the food so much during our first visit that we had to take our daughter and son-in-law. They too really enjoyed the food and said they will be back to try their brunch. The food is fresh and so much healthier than most Tex-Mex restaurants. If I want Mexican food my go to place will be Los Chilaquiles. And the service was great too. Waiters were attentive, friendly and helpful! read more

The waiter had assured us that the food would take 10-15 minutes, but it took about an hour. When the food finally arrived, it was the most bland thing I've ever tasted. The refried beans tasted like nothing, and the color of them was the lightest shade of brown I've ever seen. The chilaquiles verde I ordered were only okay at best. I brought my family to enjoy a birthday lunch. Management is very rude and disrespectful to employees. I can sense the way they look at their employees. I went to offer positive criticism to the general manager but he responded very rude. I won't be going back. Any company with disrespectful owners or manager will never see a $1 from me again. read more

This was a terrible experience that at the same time it was interesting to observe. The restaurant was not busy at all. I've seen other restaurants do a so much better job at this size. Took them 50 minutes to sit us down. My partnered told the manager who was next inline and he ignored her and bs his little historic story to the other families waiting in line. He moved up another family who forced themselves up and ignoring those who were waiting for 40 minutes. About 6 families left because they were never seated. They didn't give us napkins or utensils or sauces. I had to get up and find them myself. We thought to order everything once we sat down which did help. They didn't have conchas because they were no longer good. The menu was not direct, it was a play of words and poetic which was annoying because I wanted to get to the point and order. There was no barista to make a specific coffee from the menu. The chilaquiles was just tomato sauce with no onion or jalapeños. They only put one little egg. Our plates were lukewarm and the tortilla was almost cold. As we ate we saw more families leave because they were never attended at the door. All staff members were running around and being extremely forgetful. The manager was so busy entertaining certain tables and neglecting other tables and his management role for the team. He kept pulling his staff to help him with his tables. I think at some point he was in the kitchen prepping something. It was a stressful experience. my partner and I were on edge and there was nothing to do and see the collapse to the service. We come from a Mexican background and this was not it. The service is bad the food is not good.. they need to improve their custom service. They waiters are slow and it seems short staff

Congratulations on the opening of this unique restaurant specializing in one of my absolute favorite dishes from home (Jalisco). Warm and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. The hostess was dressed in traditional garb and the wait staff had these leather aprons that looked like a saddle. I had the Bandera plate with both red and green chilaquiles. Absolutely delicious although I think the plate only had two types of chilaquiles, not three as described. A little too rich for me but the taste was amazing. My son's plate had the grilled arranchera. The steak was so tender and flavorful. Star of the meal - the cafe de olla. I didn't even put milk or sugar in it. The flavor of the chocolate came through. Oh, don't want to forget the crispy tortillas served instead of chips. They gave us salsa, crema and cotija cheese to top them. I would have taken a dozen of them home. Maybe next time since there will definitely be a next time. It was my son's birthday and they presented him with a piece of tres leches and a hat. LOL read more

What a train wreck of a restaurant. Even though it's only been open for 3 months there is no excuse for the poor service and management. They took our order twice and still didn't get us the correct food. We asked multiple times about it and one of the other waiters said he would tell the manager. The manager (who happened to be the person that took our order the first time) came to the table and said "you asked to see me?" We said we were waiting for the manager....to which she said "I am the manager". We told her again about the orders being wrong and she quickly said that was the kitchens fault. She took no ownership of her lack of service and poor customer skills. The four of us still paid $185.....but only after we asked for the bill many many times. This restaurant may be wonderful in Guadalajara but it really is horrible in Houston. Do yourself a favor and don't go.....forgot to mention we waited an hour for this experience. My husband and I had breakfast at this new restaurant in the Heights. The atmosphere was reminiscent of Old Mexico, warm and hospitable. Krista our waitress was wonderful! First time and last time wanting to try this restaurant. We arrived at the restaurant at 10:20AM today Sunday February 22, 2026. I asked the hostess what was the wait time, she said 1 hour and got on the list. Restaurant was busy and a lot of people were waiting to be seated. They had a few empty tables available for people to seat, I didn't see why people wasn't been seated accordingly. We waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes to be seated. Once seated we ordered drinks, they came out quick about a 5 minute wait time. When drinks arrive we order the food it was around 11:40AM. We waited for another hour and food never came out, we started seen and hearing people complaining that they had been waiting for more than an hour and food order hadn't come out. A table next to us left and said they had been waiting since 10:00AM. After 5 minutes of that table leaving we decided to leave as well, asked for our order to be cancel and to bring the check to pay for the drinks. It was already 1:00PM, Antonio not sure if he was the business owner said the food was on its way out to give him 10 more minutes, I told him we couldn't wait any longer. My suggestion is, if you want the restaurant to be announced and advertised in social media at least be more prepared to handle the influx of people who is coming to eat from different parts of the city with some people driving more than an hour like we did with my family. Respect peoples time and have the workforce needed to meet the demand of clients and orders. If the kitchen can't handle the amount of orders coming in, a better structured needs to be in place. Better organization to avoid backups. The business has potential but the structure needs to be revised on how service, food, clients and orders are been handled. I don't recommend anyone going on a weekend, safe yourself the trip and wait time. read more
