I have been going to Los Chingones in DTC for around 4 years and the food and service just keep getting better and better! There Chef Special tacos are always a hit and I love seeing my favorite waitress, Laura James. She always provides excellent service and keep us updated on the latest and greatest items on the menu. The music is still kind of loud, but I'm willing to admit I'm probably just an old person now that I'm in my thirties. Other than that, the food is typically pretty good here, and now that I live across the street, it's a frequent haunt of ours when we don't feel like cooking. The chicken tacos seem to be the best of the bunch. The nachos are also good. The empanadas are a new addition to the menu and are tasty, too. Had the Brussels sprouts again and they weren't burned, and were pretty delicious (especially for the $3 happy hour price). The cookies at the end of the meal have grown on me (I'm not usually a sweets person) and I look forward to them at the end of the meal. Service is consistently pretty great. The last couple of times my margaritas have had plenty of alcohol in them, so I think the initial visit may have been a fluke. Either way, we're fans of this place and given the fact that it's a stone's throw from our home, we'll likely be regulars for a while. read more

This is Mexican food reimagined but not too much which makes it absolutely delicious! Los Chingones is a funky, fun Mexican restaurant located in the Denver Tech Center. From the moment you walk in you are taken in by the visual appeal of the restaurant. The vibrant colors and interesting decor makes the restaurant very exciting. There is plenty of seating and the service is exceptional. While you will recognize most of what you see on the menu, their version of it is slightly different. For example, steak enchiladas come in two styles and sauces and are delicious. The salsa is made from fresh roasted peppers and tomatoes that are smoky and rich in flavor. The peach sangria with a watermelon radish on top is so delicious and refreshing. The Pig Nachos are a sight and taste to behold. The service is really exceptional here. The people are just as fun as the restaurant and your food comes out FAST! One of the things that I liked about Los Chingones was the menu, they have a very specific menu with a limited number of choices but something for everyone without filling 3-5 pages in a menu. The only slightly negative comment I have is that the music is very loud in here and talking becomes problematic because everyone is talking loud to talk over the music. Spot on. We ordered the brussel sprouts, guac w/chorizo & a salsa flight to start. All amazing. For dinner I got tacos: beef cheek, pork shoulder & fish. The beef was my favorite, followed by the pork & fish. The fish was a little too fishy for my taste. Margaritas were tasty, and it looked like the had a nice drink selection in addition to margs. For me, I totally prefer this kind of hipster take on Mexican, as opposed to the more traditional approach. I like having fresh, crunchy veggies and strong flavors. This food definitely had both. We love coming to Los when we're craving tacos. I loved sitting on the patio and the service was fantastic. I switched it up and ordered chicken enchiladas which were so freaking good. Our server (LJ) was super knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. She took great care of us and we were a large table of loud personalities - not always easy to deal with us :) but she was awesome. She helped us right away and our drinks were always full. Anyone who knows me knows I am a fiend for tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. Anytime I travel somewhere new I try to find a great Mexican spot. This might be one of those spots while I'm in Denver. The house salsa is super delicious with a great hint of smokeyness and heat that creeps up on you a little. The chips are served warm (awesome, right?) with just the right amount of salt. I ordered steak enchiladas. They were served with some pretty bomb black beans and cotija cheese. I also recommend the peach sangria! It's soooo yummy. Our recent experience was really mediocre. Warm tap water for the table. The black beans tasted like they cracked a can of Kuner's and dumped it in a bowl, just flavorless. The fish tacos tasted like I was eating raw white fish, with a super fishy taste, like they weren't even seasoned or marinated or anything - I didn't even finish them, ick. Overall really great experience. The happy hour deal is amazing, $2 tacos and $5 margs!!! The chips and salsa are also great and they bring unlimited chips. With a group of 6 the service was great and the food came out very quickly. We ended the night with a Churro that comes with hot chocolate dipping sauce. I've got some serious love for Los Chingones. I foresee Hubs and I spending some serious quality time here now that it's in the DTC. The space is really cool and the staff are all fantastic. The price on drafts is a wee bit high and I'd like to see a few spicy cocktails added to the mix, but it otherwise has a great menu. Our first time in, we had grand plans to try a variety of offerings but we started with the Tres Pig Nachos and we were finished! The serving is enormous and SO.GOOD. I highly recommend this addition to any party table. If you order this as an entree for yourself, you will likely finish it because it is so delicious, but you will probably have to be rolled out of there. Anyhoos, this last time we were in we opted for the Tamal, brussels sprouts, and 5 tacos. Everything was great. The brussels sprouts may have been a shade too seasoned- I do like to taste my veggies, too! But I would order it again. The tamal comes with a ton of guacamole and is very tender and yummy. For tacos, we did the beef cheek, lamb, shrimp, veggie, and chicken thigh. My fave was the shrimp, followed by the lamb or chicken. But they were all very good. We will return soon and definitely continue to work through the entire menu. Right now they're only open in the evenings but will start lunch service in January. Right when you walk into Los Chingones it almost feels as if you walked into a scene from the movie The Book of Life. A lot of amazing murals on the wall similar to Dia De Los Muertos. Lowly light place where you can have a nice drink with some friends after a hard days work. The music is a bit loud, kind of like a club setting but the ambience was fabulous. My wife and I came here to try something new and grab some tequila shots and tacos. Unfortunate we missed happy hour which ends at 5:30 but since we were already here we definitely had to try some tequila. My wife ordered a mid to top shelf tequila, I can't remember what kind exactly and I ordered a Beerarita, which tasted exactly like Chili's cornorita. The drinks were mediocre but like i said previously that if your looking for a quick spot to grab drinks, the setting here is perfect for that. We started our dinner with chips and salsa, which didn't blow me away as once again it tasted exactly like Chili's chips and salsa. I ordered 3 different tacos, the pork shoulder, carne asada, and fish tacos. Only difference with my wife's tacos were having the fish tacos fried instead of grilled. Okay so let me go into detail of the tacos, so if you order the pork shoulder tacos, eat that first because the salsa on top kind of makes the tortilla soggy if you wait to eat it last like I did but the flavoring of the pork was delicious and very tender. As for the fish tacos, I would highly recommend ordering it fried instead of grilled, as the crunchiness of the batter fish compliments the pickled onions on top. The carne asada was amazing but wish they had some spicy salsa to put on top of it for a bit of a kick. They did follow all the Covid rules for seating and employees wearing masks. Overall the place was decent and isn't a place for authentic street tacos but more for quick bite and drinks. If i were craving tacos and I wouldn't immediately think of Los Chingones as my go to spot. read more

Can't beat their lunch special! I've had variations of the quesadilla and their tacos. Los Chingones - DTC became a regular lunch spot for my department at my old job as everyone found something they liked (we had some picky people, so pleasing everyone was sometimes difficult). They can get busy which slowed service down sometimes, but the waiters were always super attentive and kept our drinks and chips full if food was delayed. I've now been to Los Chingones - DTC twice and to be honest I want to like this place but it kind of sucks! First of all, the House Margarita (which I've had a few of) is just fine! Nothing special by any means and to be honest now that I'm writing this is kind of sucks. It had OJ in it which annoys me and makes me thing they are just trying to bamboozle people. I've had a few of the salsas (7 on the menu) and the House is the only one worth a damn the others taste like they poured about 6 cups of sugar into the batch (including but not limited to the Charred Serrano Avocado and the Habanero). In fact, this most recent time we ordered the two above told them they were terrible and wanted to send them back and they still charged us for them - so that's pretty shady of them. A girlfriend of mine had a cheese quesadilla recently, it was good but I mean it's a cheese quesadilla for crying out loud. Oh, and the guacamole is pretty bland too just MEH! What I find most troublesome seems to be the staff, you would think that this particular location gets people who actually have money to spend (not say like the younger crowd in RINO) and you would assume they would be doing better in this area but they aren't. The servers all seem to be irritated or slow and I'm not sure which is worse. I don't think our group will be going back for various reasons but the overcharging and the lackluster food and drink are definitely top of the list. When a business is busy on Cinco de mayo and your waiter is cleaning the floor and goofing off with other colleagues....that is a problem. There was an extreme lack of attentiveness from the staff. The house margaritas tasted sour and the nachos were incredibly stale. Yuck! We have no motivation to ever go back again. The worst place we have ever had dinner at. We've experienced some mediocreness at restaurants, but this definetley takes the cake. When you serve food that's barely edible and margaritas that are undeniably awful, that's a problem. This is my second time visiting this location and both visits were good. The first time was a little unsettling because the first two tacos I attempted to order were 86d off the menu because all the meat was gone. Not a bad thing for the restaurant but not great for me. With this we decided to give it another try. This time my selection was available (lamb neck) and it was damn good. I also got the nacho appetizer as my entree and was not disappointed. Best. Tacos. Seriously. Soft corn tortillas (flour tortilla available on request, but why would you want that?). It's easy and fun to mix and match, as they come one taco per order, around $4 each. I can't even pick a favorite, because they were all delicious. One recurring theme is a smokey chipotle seasoning that flavors at least one component in each dish. Veg friendly options are the pinto bean cotija cheese taco and the seasonal veggie taco, which changes monthly. Mine came with asparagus, snap peas and crispy potatoes. Each taco is topped with a fresh raw component, like a slaw or thinly sliced radish, which adds a nice crunch and texture. Yum yum YUM! The drink list is very extensive, including some very nice top shelf Tequila. Prices reasonable, service outstanding, and you get home made cookies for dessert. They looked delicious, unfortunately, I steer clear of wheat, so I couldn't try it. Will be back for happy hour! read more

As soon as we walked here, the manager Jason, greeted us and we were immediately seated. We were here before and he went ahead and took our orders. We had the Pig Ear Nachos and it was the best nachos with extra chorizo! Omg!! We also had the steak and pork belly tacos which was AMAzING!!! The smoke-pina Rita was very delicious. I love the fact that the our waiter Julio, was able to check on us whenever we wanted more. At the end they gave us these delicious salty cookies. I love salty and sweet so I was very impressed!!! It's loud, crowded and "hip" (anyone still use that word?) albeit good quality and atmosphere is inconsistent. The tacos are simply just ok. The fish, shrimp, lamb neck ... The bowl is simply just ok as well. Salty, spicy mix of stuff in a bowl. Guac is decent. Service is hit or miss, attentive at times at other, server is too cool to notice you. Frankly, there are better places for authentic tacos around and at half the price (although those places lack the hip factor and make up for it in food taste). Just an ok spot. read more

Despite my love for tacos, I somehow never made it to the RiNo Los Chingones so I was very pleased when I discovered one had opened up just a block from where I live. The boyfriend and I finally moseyed on over last weekend before a play. The restaurant has a very industrial feel with exposed duct work and metal looking chairs. But then it has splashes of color like striped booths and wall graffiti. It's a fun marriage of styles that you don't usually see in DTC. We weren't too hungry (I mean, it was 5:30 on a Saturday) but I got the lamb neck taco and the red chili pork taco. They were both a little spicy, which I enjoy! The meat was perfectly tender on both. The boyfriend got the beef cheek taco. It had green chili on it so he said it had a little kick as well but didn't overwhelm the flavor of the meat. The house salsa was a good mixture of smooth and chunky. I don't like overly chunky salsa so I thought it was perfect. They bring a water pitcher/bottle to your table so you can refill your own glass, but almost every time they walked by they would go ahead and top us off. I opted for a poma loma instead of the basic marg. It was yummy but the glass was small and there was a lot of ice so it lasted about 2 and a half gulps. I'll probably get it again but only during happy hour. It's exciting to have a fun, unique place in DTC, especially one I can walk to. I forsee myself becoming a happy hour regular. Went here today for lunch and the street tacos were excellent. My buddy said the enchiladas were excellent as well. There was a bunch of food on his plate and he even had to take some to go. Pluses: good food, good service, good location. I would like to be able to give a food review, but we didn't even get as far as ordering. We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday evening and at that time only only one table was occupied. Our server bought us water, and then disappeared. I had to ask her twice to come and take our order. When she finally arrived at the table she maked no eye contact at all, and with an attitude gave us a "yep" as she came to the table. It was at this point we left without even ordering. In 16 years of living in the US I have never received such bad service. Maybe she was having a bad day, but even so, a smile and a simple "sorry for keeping you waiting" would have solved the whole situation. read more

Let me start out by saying I love this spot! It has such a great vibe and the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend the happy hour here. They have some great deals on some yummy apps. Tacos are only $2 and they are just so incredibly flavorful. Also they have a great seafood- give the salmon ceviche a try. The drink deals also great. They have a good deal on a shot/beer combo or you could always try their cocktail of the day. Nice new trendy addition to the Tech Center. It has an industrial feel in the bar area and low lit, more romantic booth settings on the other side. We got there for happy hour (4-6pm) and they have excellent pricing. Pig Nachos $5, and $2 tacos. We tried the nachos (3/5 - they were very salty), two of the tacos (pulled pork 5/5, lamb neck 5/5) and the Chile Relleno (2/5 - tasted bland, no goat cheese as described, breading crunchy but oily). They do have a raw bar and I would be interested to try their sashimi, but raw bar seemed pricey - would be neat if they added some oysters to HH. You can get their house Margarita skinny for an extra $2. I've had better "elevated" mexican food elsewhere, but I still give 4 stars for the great service and atmosphere and delicious tacos. This is a welcomed addition to the area. Mexican in the area is suspect at best, that is until this place opened. First off, if you go by the name 'the Badasses' you better be good! And good they were. Everything we had was awesome, almost, as was the service. Our server was Carly, from MN, and she was on her game. Food is a bit adventurous, not your hole in the wall standard Mexican fare, but rather a regal version. We started with the queso fundido and it was fabulous, even with the rattlesnake and rabbit chorizo. The low point of the meal had to be the brussel sprouts, then again, I am not a big fan to begin with. Next up was the Tamal and it was amazing! We then added on some tacos (lobster and carnitas) which were also quite good. I really enjoyed the lobster. It had great flavor and a nice butter sauce. Good drink selection with an assortment of cervezas to choose from. Little bonus came at the end of our meal as the chef sent out some cookies.
