Favorite Taco Truck in Oakland. The service is always great, food always taste great no matter what time of day we go! Their carnitas tacos are my fav

Came here for some steak cheese fries. around 8pm on Sunday and although it feels a little sketchy here, there was parking, so at least you don't need to walk far. Ordered and got the food in a reasonable amount of time. For $14 it's not bad. I'd like it more if the fries were a little crispier and if it has pico de gallo on it. They did give us some salsa and pickled carrots and jalepenos.

Located at a busy intersection on 23rd and Foothill Ave, parked inside the parking lot of El Ranchito Market is Los Compadres Taco Truck. Los Compadres is as good as any of the popular Taco Trucks in Oakland. But what sets Los Compadres apart from other taco trucks? Cheesesteak Fries: this is a carba-lious meal with crispy fried French fries, with melted cheese and steak, and jalapeños. And they are happy to add any extras to jazz the fries up, whether it's shrimp, avocado, salsa, sour cream or anything else that floats your boat. One guy even has rice dumped on top of the cheesesteak fries. Pescado burrito and steak burrito: these are decent sized burritos with a nice cross section of ingredients. Sometimes taco trucks can go a little heavy on the beans which distorts the flavor but here they get it right. The guys working this truck are great. Communication with them is easy and orders can be called in as well. Also a big plus is for 50 cents, Los Compadres accepts credit cards. Solid hood eats in the Hood.

First time visiting here, it was very good. I came with my niece and we just sat in the car and devoured our food. She ordered by phone and everything was good.

I was craving some tacos but my regular spots were packed, somI checked the app for options and Los Compadres was a couple blocks from me. It's located in the parking lot of a market so I had no problem to park, the area is well lighted and not too sketchy (for Oakland). The guy that took my order was very nice, no nonsense. For my 3 tacos and horchata I payed 12ish which is fair. He told me my order was gonna take about 10mins but was ready in 5. I liked that they call the orders thru a speaker. The tacos had a good amount of meat and good flavor, specially the tongue. The drink was not too sweet which I prefer. My only complaint is that I had ordered 2 tripe tacos and they gave me tongue. I didn't say anything 'cause I was starving and I'm not too picky.

Food: 8/10 Service: N/A Portion size: average Value: 7/10 I definitely recommend the beef tongue taco and the steak burrito! The beef tongue taco was juicy and tender and had good flavor! The steak burrito was also very tasty. I think the sauce and sour cream add a nice moisture to the burrito making it not dry with delicious flavor! The steak burrito also had a lot of meat too which my hubby liked! Lol The steak nacho fries would be the next thing I would recommend! But you definitely need to eat it right away or else it gets soggy as expected. They put steak sour cream, onions and cilantro. It was good even when soggy but better fresh! The chicken, steak and carnitas tacos were okay to me. I have had better ones in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Mexixo but their burrito is a top on my list and I usually enjoy tacos more than a burrito! So that's saying something! The total price without tip was $54 for: 11 tacos, 2 regular burritos, and steak nacho fries. So pretty good! Prices have gone up I've noticed probably due to covid so this is wallet friendly!

Would be a 3.5-5 star rating but they forgot the avocado in my steak fries and usually there should be onion and cilantro in it too :( STEAK FRIES -Wish there was onion and cilantro in it too, usually there is in steak fries -Sour cream and avocado are extra (they forgot I asked for avocado) TACOS -The sour cream and cheese tacos were good! I liked the cilantro added for aromatics and the cheese elevated the taco -Like that it's not too oily and heavy! BURRITO -Burrito also had onion and cilantro + rice was soft and mixed in at a good ratio with the meat (carne asada). Location is Foothill and 23rd Ave or you can route to El Ranchito Market - you can park in the lot. They take credit, debit, and cash. Nice to take your food to Lake Merritt to enjoy!

One of the best taco trucks in east Oakland. It's my boyfriend's go to taco truck. We tried about 2 other taco trucks in the area like Guadalajara and taco sinaloa, their tacos are so oily and greasy. Our stomach can't handle the amount of oil. So he found Los compadres to be less oily, our stomachs are full and happy after eating. TIP - call ahead to place your order to avoid waiting in line to order. They'll give you an eta for the order TYPICAL ORDER beef burrito with no beans - sometimes they add beans even though I say no beans. Just confirm with them over phone Steak tacos Chicken tacos Carne Asada fries They give a generous amount of red hot sauce and green salsa & jalapeño peppers when you pick up your order. Good customer service & efficient cook time.

I came around 3 pm on a Wednesday afternoon and there was no line. I was able to order right away and had 10 tacos and one steak fries. The steak fries here have really big portions! This place uses mozzarella cheese so the cheese sticks to the fries without it being soggy. If you can't finish in one sitting, you can always save it for later and bake it in the oven. The meat is a decent amount and I like how they add onions, cilantro, and sour cream. I wish they added guacamole, it will make it the best steak fries. I love the tacos here as well because they put a decent amount of meat on it and the meat is so flavorful! It's the best place in Oakland hands down. Eat it with some carrots and it gives it a nice sour kick.

Yassssss! I've been coming to this taco trucks for more than 8 years! Little family own business. The owner Jose is amazing! His homemade red spicy sauce is delicious! Has a nice kick to it. The truck is across the street from the laundry mat. A little ghetto, but hey almost like a hole in the wall. I prefer this taco truck over taco Sinaloa because the line is shorter and the tacos are delicious. 2$ for deliciousness! And there's two option for horchata, either 1$ or 2$ cups. I would get 4 tacos to myself since they're so yummy! Highly recommend this truck to anyone. This truck takes debit/credit card!

Tacos Oscar offers up slightly more upscale Tacos with nuanced ingredients and intense flavors. During my latest outing I went with the mushroom, barbacoa, and chile verde tacos. Each of my tacos was great, but the mushroom one stood out. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and had a slight crunch which gave them an excellent texture. They were also incredibly well seasoned. My barbacoa and Chile verde tacos were also solid with some nice topping variation that helped mix up the flavors and texture. Oscar's service is good and straightforward. Place your order up front and either grab a table there or walk to their back patio. I LOVE the back area on a sunny day and would highly recommend it. Each taco here will run you about 5-6 bucks so don't be too suprised by the sticker shock. I would say 3-4 tacos is the ideal range depending on how hungry you are. Give them a try if you're ever in the Mosswood/Temescal area.

We ordered pork shoulder, chicken, and charred broccoli tacos, as well as a tostada with elote and an agua fresca. The braised pork pulled aprt tenderly to reveal the chiles that imparted their subtle flavor. The mayonnaise spread thinly across the tostada was equal parts spicy and tangy, and almost too intense if not for the corn and squash layered onto it. (Perhaps the veggies were slightly under-seasoned to balance the mayo? I was a bit underwhelmed by them.) The agua de melon was syrupy in texture with a smoothness you don't often find. If there is one caveat, it is the price tag. Get yourself two tacos and call it a light meal, otherwise the tab starts adding up!

From the outside, it looks like a straightforward taco truck, but wow was I surprised. I ordered the Carnitas Super Taco, which came loaded with lettuce, cheese, cilantro, onions, sour cream, and guacamole. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. My only complaint? You only get one taco per order because I definitely could've eaten another. The Kid ordered the Carne Asada Super Taco and before we even pulled away, she was asking for a second one. That's usually a pretty good sign. We also tried the horchata and jamaica, and both were delicious. The horchata was creamy and flavorful, while the jamaica was refreshing and not overly sweet. What surprised me most was how quickly they got the food out, especially considering how popular this spot seems to be. A few things to know: * Cash or Venmo only * Parking can be a challenge, but it's worth it * Keep an eye out for the new speed cameras in the area Their hours are another plus: Open daily, 9:30am- midnight Overall, this was one of those pleasant surprises that reminds you not to judge a place by appearances. The flavors are rich and laid on thick. We ordered a veggie burrito, a bean and cheese burrito with rice added, and three tacos (carne, pollo asado, and Cameron's). The carne melted in my mouth, since it was rich with rendered fat, and the tortillas were crisped around the outside to melt and seal the layer of cheese inside. Probably our best overall dish was the bean-cheese-rice burrito -- covered in their salsas and peppers -- since it balanced all the ingredients and textures. On the other hand, the veggie burrito brought the flavor, but between the crema, pico, guacamole, and cheese it ended up soggy halfway through and the tortilla threatened to come loose. The shrimp and chicken were forgettable, and the tortillas come crispy off the griddle but they are damp by the time you walk anywhere to sit. What captures the truck in a nutshell are the chips they serve, covered in a seasoning that replicates Doritos flavor. Sometimes that is exactly what you need. But you can get it elsewhere easily too.

I'd thought the place had lost its touch, but maybe it was just an off day. Today in May of 2026 I've managed to visit while it's a slow day, and I was pleasantly satisfied with my food. I ordered a Carnitas burrito, and it was just as delicious as I'd remembered it one decade ago. While I was eating the first half of my burrito I was thinking "this is good, but burritos are good.. is it better than other burritos I've had, and why?" Something is different about burritos at Tacos Sinaloa, the food reflects that of some regional tacos trucks scattered throughout the East bay, but they're very distinct in how well they're capable of doing this style of Mexican food. As I said earlier- burritos are good. I think they are good because everything tastes good together, but not all burritos are created equal. The first thing that stood out to me about my burrito was the tortilla. It's not your standard tortilla, and it's nothing extravagant, but it seemed intentional. The tortilla is softer, thinner, and it holds up, but it's not chewy. It's there and it soaks up the oils and it doesn't take away from anything. In my experience, a bad tortilla can make a burrito less enjoyable. This tortilla adds in that it's barely there and it's pleasant because it soaks up the flavors without detracting. On the insides, the beans and rice can give or take away depending on where you get your burrito from. At Tacos Sinaloa on this particular day, the beans and rice did not take away from the burrito. The pinto beans were plum and creamy, and tasted like pintos. No nonsense- they added because they didn't subtract, I could go on about grainy beans or starchy over seasoned bean liquid, but NONE OF THAT HERE. The rice had perfect texture. It almost like 'al dente', but not in a chewy way, it had just enough rice texture and didn't get in the way of the other ingredients. It was mildly seasoned with your classic Mexican rice (aromatic tomato broth like flavor). No nonsense, no unnecessary spices, not over saturated in liquid, or turned to mush. Just good simply season rice. Cheese and sour cream- Salty Mexican cheese, presumably Oaxaca or something similar. Adds little salty flavor explosions throughout the burrito. Sour cream, added tangy acidity that cuts through the fatty ness making it taste more lively. Of coarse, the lovely creaminess. If you're not having your burrito with these I'm very sorry for you. The star of the show- The Carnitas here is just done right. It's not over seasoned with anything, it just tastes like melty delicious braised pork shoulder, then fried to accentuate it with crispy mallard bits that surprise you throughout the burrito. Towards the end of my experience I came to the conclusion that what makes a Tacos Sinaloa burrito good is that its ingredients forward- each ingredient tastes good on its own, and that can't be said for all burritos. It's not a burrito for the sake of being a burrito. All the ingredients seem intentionally chosen so that none get in the way of one another. I want to say they make the meat the star of the show, but even if you were to have a bean and rice and cheese + sour crème burrito here it would be an exceptional burrito, which is a testament to their culinary philosophy. Last but not least- yes they have salsa, and of coarse it's good, and I love that they give lemon slices with your food - it's another small intentional detail that they offer lemon instead of lime. Carnitas burrito 5/5. Sinaloa overall 4/5 because of inconsistency.

The main reason I never went before was the parking situation, which honestly can be a little challenging, but for this visit we found parking down the block and around the corner. The short walk after dinner ended up being nice anyway. We had reservations, although we did wait about 15 extra minutes while another party finished their meal. My family member pointed out they were enjoying drinks, so that probably added some time. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and clearly trying to get us seated as quickly as possible. Water was brought to the table right away, and our drink order was taken promptly. I ordered the chicken salad and was pleasantly surprised to learn the mango vinaigrette dressing did not contain oils, since I personally avoid seed oils. The salad was fresh and delicious. Some of my family members ordered the buffet, which looked incredible. At first it seemed like too much food for me that day, but once I saw everything included, I started thinking maybe I should have ordered it too since it was only about seven dollars more. They brought complimentary chips, guacamole, and salsa to the table, and everything was so flavorful. The guacamole was especially delicious, and they happily refilled the chips several times. I finally understood why the restaurant is called "Los Moles" because their mole sauces are outstanding. I got to try some from my son's plate, and it definitely made me want to come back and explore more of the different mole options. They also offer vegetarian choices, which is great. Although I am very particular about cooking surfaces, my food is cooked on and in, the Mexican coffee which was heated in some type of who knows what metal, had a good flavor. It inspired me to re-create it at home. Another standout for me was the freshly made corn tortillas served with the meals. They were soft, warm, and incredibly good. I also tried the beans, which were full of flavor. Overall, this restaurant really stood out in my memory, and I definitely want to return someday to try more moles.

They've also made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand list several years in a row, so you know the food is going to be legit! They don't accept reservations, so getting there and hoping for a table is your best bet. We were a group of 5, and after about a 20 min wait (pretty much par-for-the-course for a Saturday night), we were seated. They do have tables outside, but we were told that we couldn't start our meal outside and then move to a table indoors after one was available, so we waited. Oh well! As we waited, we noticed a steady stream of online orders, indicating this is a popular place with those in the neighborhood. We got a few beers while we waited for a table. They also have Thai iced teas/coffee/lemonade, and serve young coconuts with water. We got a bunch of appetizers to share and some entrees. We got the crispy rice pork salad, this is served with lettuce leaves and herbs and a wedge of lime. I loved this dish - the crispy rice and ground pork combination was balanced and the squeeze of lime juice made for a perfect bite wrapped in a lettuce leaf with mint and cilantro. Next was the Bird & Buffalo Chicken wings, perfectly crispy and tossed in salt and pepper. Good for folks who don't enjoy the spice. We also got the grilled pork spare ribs to share, which folks enjoyed. For entrees we had the drunken noodles with pork, green curry with rice and massaman curry with rice. I could have done with a spicier version of the green curry, but it was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, a solid spot for Thai food - we will be back to sample some of their other dishes too!
