I know I am in the minority when it comes to spicy food - I just can't handle spice. I LOVE Mexican food, but spicy is just something I can't handle. This place - EVERYTHING was spicy. Usually, at a Mexican restaurant you can choose if you want to order spicy or not. Here, you do not get that option. My husband really loves spicy food. He said he enjoyed it. I, personally, do not enjoy having my mouth feel like it's on fire & not being able to taste the flavors in the food bothers me. I scraped all the hot stuff off my tamale and the flavor was great. But, still. If you love the flavors of Mexican food w/o the spice - this place is NOT for you. If you want the heat - you'll love it. The wait - we did call ahead seating on a Friday night and had to wait about 45 min. Expect a wait. Margaritas - I got a Strawberry Margarita on the rocks. It was great. It was strong and I didn't even notice intil the end of it. Lol. Good tequila. Im not trying to knock this place bc of my personal preference. When I reviewed it before I went, I wish I had seen someone warning off wusses like me who can't handle spice. For everyone else, enjoy. read more

Wait time was over an hour on Saturday night for two. We got drinks and hung in there. Sevice was poor, our waitress seem confused about our questions. And it was not a language difference, my son asked in Spanish, which she reply she didn't speak. The menu was to big to read. So we went with things we knew. Green chile was tasty, but alot of process cheese. I love cheese, but not fake yellow cheese. Which I seeing in most places. Again my son loved it. Me, looking for old Denver Mexican food. The food here is amazing. It's a bit on the pricier side, but their food is worth every penny. Their margaritas are delicious and fruity, but definitely lack the quintessential tequila flavor. I've been here twice and thought the food was good and the wait staff very helpful and friendly. Both times I was there it was pretty busy and I had to wait for a table. I moved from California and Los Dos Potrillos is as close to home as possible. The margaritas are always on par, the table side guac is tasty, and the entrees are good portions. While I enjoy their mariscos and street tacos, my three go-to items are always: the flautas, the carnitas, and the pozole on cold days. If you have an opportunity, you have to try the carnitas, as they're only served on weekends, but you will not regret the decision. Best Mexican food. Love it. When we go there always good service, good food, and friendly staff. Wish I could say the same for the Parker location. We've been there twice. First time, waiter acted like he didn't want to wait on us, he paced up and down, had to call to him. Next time we went, they wouldn't seat us in a booth like we requested, food was cool, and served my tostada on top of entree so the shell melted away. Why didn't they put it on a separate plate? Only nice thing our waitress was nice. Needless to say it will be a minute before we go back to the Parker location. The food here is really good, starting with the chips and salsa. The street tacos taste authentic and the beans and rice are on point. When we were in for lunch, the service was lacking. We didn't see our server again after he dropped off the food. We couldn't get drink refills or ask for a couple other things we needed. The food here is amazing but unfortunately the customer service has gotten SO BAD the last three times we have been in here, it's time to find a new favorite. For such a busy place the waiters are spread super thin and do not pay attention or care about their tables. If you're ordering drinks and racking up a bill they tend to have better service, but in my opinion, small or large bill, you should have equally as great of service. Ordered the #12 combo. Honestly this was one of the worst tasting meals I've ever paid for. Enchilada sauce tasted like a cheap from the can sauce. The beef in the tacos was awful. My companion had the burrito supreme, when the rude waiter came and flopped our plates on the table we looked at the "burrito" and started laughing! It came out as a tortilla folded in half with runny refried beans inside. It was literally as flat as a pancake. She took a bite and couldn't take another. I didn't bother tasting hers because if it was as bad as it looked I didn't want any. This place is terrible! And the prices are pretty ambitious for such awful food. I don't often over praise any food or restaurant, but hands down Los Dos Potrillos is by far the best Mexican food I have eaten. Coming from Southern California, and growing up eating this type of food, I can say that I have had my fare share of dishes throughout my life. And this place by far has the best food. Thin warm crispy chips, perfectly seasoned salsa, and the steak picado was out of this realm. Yes, you heard it right folks, out of this realm. It is about time that you go eat food at a Mexican restaurant and they don't over salt the food, and the spices they used were perfect, not over seasoned. The heat level was just perfect as I love spicy food, hence "picado". I am now in love with this place and will be going back for dinner tonight. More Steak Picado! nom nom nom! P.S. Yet another Mexican restaurant from my boyfriend's childhood! I must say, I love these adventures and Los Dos, as he lovingly calls it, didn't disappoint. So, let's look at my usual Mexican food criteria: 1. Green chile: I barely had any of this at Los Dos. I expected it would be on my chile relleno, but it wasn't. I can't really judge it, but I can say that I wish I had sauce! 2. Chile rellenos: Amazing! The relleno here was so deliciously fried and had a nice flavor. It did feel a bit greasy, but let's be honest, that's what makes these so good. I just wish there had been more sauce on it. 3. Enchilada: For the first time in a long time I got a chicken enchilada instead of plain cheese. Wow. That was an excellent decision as the chicken was so moist and flavorful. I loved it. 4. Chips and salsa: The salsa here was hella spicy. I love spicy food, but this was a bit much for me. I found myself reaching for quite a few plain chips to cool down my mouth, which were not that special to be honest. 5. Margarita: Yum! This margarita was so good. We each had a couple and they were not heartburn-inducing! Overall Los Dos is great. I would love to go again. I was especially fond of the atmosphere and I like that the waiters spoke Spanish to us. There was some confusion among the food runners/bussers and waiters, as we asked multiple people for more chips and salsa before we got some and the same went for to-go boxes. read more

I don't like to give perfect scores unless they are PERFECT. My issue is that the salsa and green chili can sometimes be crazy hot (spicy.) However everything I have tried there is excellent. The management (owners?) are involved and passionate about their food. Lastly if you have been to all 3 of their locations you will notice that they do the business. So, I don't really care for Mexican food, but this place is worth visiting. I'm guessing if you like Mexican food, it is super good because at just after 5PM we had to wait 15 minutes to get it and the waiting area was packed after that. Fortunately they have quite a lot more options than the standard burrito, enchilada, taco, etc. I had the Pechuga del Pollo and it was very good. The serving size was very sufficient but way too much, and the flavor and cooking of everything was just right. My wife had a beef sopapilla and really enjoyed it. Los Dos Patrillos, as you walk in you see the Hispanic features that are noticeable and the portrait of two horses, quote on quote "Los Dos Patrillos". You get seated quickly and water and chips and salsa come your way. The waiter are very nice, friendly and helpful. They gave us enough time to pick our food and drinks were brought out pretty quick. I got the chicken quesidilla and was satisfied. They had the right amount of meat in each bite and tasted great. This was my third visit to Los Dos Potrillos #1 at S. Holly and County Line Road in Littleton and by far it was the least good. Both the food, chicken enchiladas and a margarita, were mediocre at best. I had lunch last week at La Hacienda and the food was so much better there was no comparison. I went to Los Dos Potrillos as it is much closer to me but not worth it when La Hacienda is so much better. And the service is better there too. We went to the Parker location at 5:00 pm Sunday. We were seated quickly and Oscar helped us within 10 minutes. He took our drink order and we wanted a table side guacamole. My husband received his drink but we never saw Oscar again, nor did he bring our guacamole or take our order. We were there 50 minutes and the other couples who sat after us had their dinner order taken and one couple had their dinner served. We asked for our check and Oscar said that they were very busy and that was his reason for not taking our order or delivering our guacamole. Not going back nor recommending. It's definitely one of my favorite breakfast items so I'm a bit of a snob after trying out so many breakfast burritos over the years from various restaurants around Colorado. They were packed and we put our name in, we had 5 people but they got us seated pretty quickly. There bar was in the waiting area so you could get a drink while you waited for your table.
