We don't get fuel here very often but we do get our propane tank filled here. We live near downtown LG and getting a propane refill here is normally much faster than going for an exchange because they can usually do it immediately instead of going to an exchange, waiting in line, paying a cashier, having them call somebody else who can unlock a cage, driving to the cage, and only then doing the exchange. That whole process can easily take 20 minutes, minimum. Here, you just tell the cashier and they walk out and fill your tank it even if several people are getting fuel so their propane service is quick and easy. Prices fluctuate but our refill cost on Sept 7, 2024 was $22.50 out the door and we were driving away with our refilled tank in less than a couple minutes. Also... general consensus is that you get more propane with a refill because they actually fill it as opposed to an exchange where they only fill to the bare minimum. My photos are of our refill from the 76 gas station compared to an exchange we did a while back. Weighed with the same scale on the same day within 15 minutes of each other. The tank refilled at the 76 station weighed 35.2 lbs and the Blue Rhino exchange tank weighed 33.2 lbs. Subtracting the weight of the tanks themselves (17 lbs) reveals 18.2 lbs of propane from 76 and 16.2 lbs from the Blue Rhino exchange tank. The result is that we got 12.3% more propane from the 76 gas station refill than we got from the exchange tank... for less money and much faster service. After a little research it seems we got lucky with our 16.2 lbs from Blue Rhino because a search reveals they aim for only 15 lbs propane (see screenshot from Google. read more

The "older rude man" strikes again. I went to get a smog check where I first called for availability. I arrived and shared my make & year, got quoted $60 by a younger man at the counter. All good so far. That changed when the man returns 5' later and told me the price is now $90 because it was an Aston-Martin. Despite that the test is exactly the same, I guess they think I would just pay more. I asked why and he had no answer except to say it was his boss, the older man. I asked to talk to him and he showed up and explained that this was what it was. Take it or leave it. I first said to do it since I was there but would never come back. The older man threatened to not perform the test since "I was not happy". Well sure, nobody like a bait a switch. I thought about it for a minute and left, never to come back again to this capricious and arbitrary overcharge. I went to Accurate Smog Check on Curtner in Campbell. Great people. Charging $70 all in and done in 10'. Save your money and reduce your stress by taking your car somewhere else. I'll go exclusively to Accurate Smog from now on and skip the rude older man treatment. read more

Theres a thing called integrity... I'm writing this as I am dealing with a new shop in which I am getting my smog done WITH awesome service. Unfortunately, it was NOT at this Los Gatos shop in which DMV referred me too... As a mechanic and as- i heard- owner, it would seem if a person with no knowledge of smog testing (because I had never had to do one) you should probably let your customers know that if a check engine light is on, you won't pass. I literally paid for nothing because my check engine light WAS on. CLEARLY. YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT. ON. Anyways, mechanics of integrity would have let me know this before having me pay the fee. For what? Oh, yeah, nothing. He claimed I had a leak in my fuel line which later and furthermore was concluded this was NOT true which again, leads me to believe he never ran the damn test. So I go into my mechanic with this smog guys diagnostic analysis report and he'll course goes looking for a leak in the fuel line in which he cannot find. It was never a leak in my fuel line. I actually had to replace the EVAP system. So, either the smog shop/station owner: a) did not run the test. b) his smog equipment/diagnostic machine is wrong. Either scenario is not good. Still scratching my head on why he even had me take the test with the light on... Not only am really disappointed but I believe I was taken advantage of. Period. There's no reason why I would ever go back to re-test or ever test here again. But, it's all good. You got my money but remember karma? She's another story. read more

I was here for fixing my car's headlight,and the guy he droped the light from his hand, and i told him if its gonna work,he was so rude F...C as..ho.. -If it dosent work bring it back i will replace the light again i wont charge you for the light...I will charge you only for the labor.So he charge me $30 even 2 weeks later my head light went off again i went back he put new one and he charge me for labor $15 ...Whic was not right for him to charge me for labor.Any way i paid him..Unfortunately the head light he made it worst .3 days later went off again. Later i took my car to somewhere else and they fixed for $25 and the guy he told me where did you take your car before, I told him about this F.C.. place he said he didint put sticker, and beacuse of this i got stop by police 3 times... I will never go to this f.. place he was trying to charge more probably.. I wish i can give them 0 star. For fixing car never take your car in this place just advice . OVERALL ASSESSMENT This is a poor automotive service provider based on my interaction. I would not recommend them. This business repeatedly demonstrates a poor understanding of professional standards in multiple areas -- from car repair craft to dealing with customers. COMPETENCE Poor. My car was brought to them several times, failing to run properly after each visit. When asked "What tests did you perform to determine the cause of the problem," the response indicated that this business lacked basic competency and was replacing parts without supporting tests to indicate that they were in need of replacement. HONESTY/INTEGRITY Poor. The mechanic was rude in response to polite and reasonable inquiry. This service station failed to meet basic California requirements to provide a repair estimate. Mechanic in one instance installed a part improperly and installed multiple unneeded parts. Ultimately, I took the car to another mechanic. The other mechanic determined that the part that this station replaced was defective. The car runs perfectly after the other mechanic replaced the part. It remains to be seen if the money I paid to this station will be refunded. COMMUNICATION Poor. The mechanic promised to call with needed information. After ignoring his promise to provide information, and after several follow-up calls stated "whatever" and was hostile. The thing to know about this business is that they are high strung and easily given to being argumentative and abrasive. PRICING/VALUE Poor. This station performed and billed unnecessary work, replacing parts in the manner of a backyard mechanic with poor diagnostic skills - replace parts until the problem is fixed. SCHEDULE/TIMELINESS Poor. Promises made were not only ignored, but users of this station should be prepared to be berated, and to be complained to. In my interaction, the mechanic complained that the owner was away, complained that he just took in a bunch of smog certificate seeking customers, complained that he was told to replace parts with no insight or testing to explain why parts should be replaced and more. AN UPDATE After having the defective part that Los Gatos 76 installed replaced by a competent mechanic, I contacted the Los Gatos 76 owner to get a refund. I provided the name of the competent mechanic (Normadin Chrysler Jeep, their phone number, AND the name of the service advisor who could prove that the part installed by Los Gatos 76 was defective). Unbelievably, the Los Gatos 76 owner stated that he could not refund the repair unless he "could get his money back from the person who sold" him the defective part. This business is foul. Period. Yesterday I got a flat tire and Frank stopped what he was doing and helped me fix it right away, he was so patience and kind and had it fixed in 20 minutes. Came here for gas not realizing they were closed already and the owner came out and helped me with the pump, since it kept declining my card. He said to use it as an ATM and it worked so I was able to pump gas. Very nice guy. read more

I went here last week to get a smog for my 12 yr old vehicle. I don't think the guy knew what he was doing, he told me that my air filter was not the right one for the vehicle and said he would fail my vehicle, so I should take it somewhere else?? He was quit rude and gave no credible explanation.... I told him it has been smog checked several times over the years, but he just turned away.... I called the OEM of the air filter and sent them pictures of the air cleaner system. They told me it is California compliant and it is current. I ended up going somewhere else this week and it passed without any issues.. read more

Do not go here. They rip you off, and I wouldn't think about bringing my car here for service, let alone gas or other purchases. Bought 2 12 ounce Red bulls. Price said " 2 for $5.33 " bought $6 in lotto. He charged me $16.06. I walked away after my purchase trying to do the math in my head while this guy had a smirk on his face. Realized I was over charged, walked back in, and he said "you where charged correctly. The Red bull price went up be cause of infusion" Well WTH is now being "infused" in my Red Bull?! I have had the pleasure of having my Toyota Prius worked on by Ben this past week. Granted, not big jobs, but still necessary. Ben was reliable and honest. He had quoted me (with regret) a large fee for a Toyota part. I went on line to validate the expense. When I showed up to retrieve my car, he had great news. He was able to us a part that was$20 instead of th $195 originally quoted. Wow! and I would have happily paid the more expensive price. I will be taking my car back to this gentleman for what ever else my little car needs... read more

I think that this is a very good service station and mechanic. I have been using their services now for a year or two. it began innocuously enough with a smog check on my Toyota vehicle. There was a miscommunication, Ben said one thing and Sam said another but Sam honored what Ben had said so were good. (Ben probably undercharged me.) After that I started using them for gas fill ups whenever possible. Their prices are always competitive. They also have propane, which is a really nice thing if you barbecue with a propane grill. As time has gone on I've had Sam do repair work on other vehicles, including my Lexus. I've been very happy, and I think I was won over when Sam remembered to ask about a problem I had with another car that I had forgotten about in the early phase of my relationship with this business. The folks at Goodyear in Los Gatos recommended this place for a repair needed on our Volkswagon Passat. They said the mechanic there, Sam, was a certified Volkswagon mechanic. He was great and we were very happy with the work. More recently we needed break work done and decided to take the car there. The price quoted for both front and rear breaks was lower than anywhere else we called, except Midas (who quoted $40 less). I had heard and read mixed reviews of Midas so we decided to take the car to Los Gatos 76. The other mechanic there, Ben, did a great job on our break work. Even though the job took him longer than expected (partly due to the last place over-tightening the lug nuts), he still only charged the quoted labor. We had gotten a break check at another place, but Ben did his own break inspection to verify what was needed. He was good at calling us to let us know how long it would take and had the work completed as promised. Both Sam and Ben have been nice to work with. There are not many places where you get to deal directly with the mechanic who will be working on your car. I know we'll take the car back there in the future. read more

I am very unsatisfied with the work this mechanic did on my car. First of all, I was overcharged significantly for the service and it was later on, that I found out how much money I could saved. I was shocked. Secondly, even after paying that much, I ended up bringing my car back to fix the same problem which the mechanic supposedly fixed the first time. Poor job! So I overplayed for poor quality. I'm never coming back to this place for service on my car and I'm definitely not recommending them to anyone! read more

Los Gatos 76 is the BEST! I've been dealing with Sam and Ben for many years and I wouldn't go to anyone else for automotive service. Sam is an actual mechanic, not a parts exchanger like you find in most dealerships locally. The work is top notch, and the prices they charge are very fair. Been going there for about 10+ years. They have taken good care of my VW 2000 Passat and Honda Ody van. Sam is very genuine guy and goes out of his way to help others. My VW Passat 2000 is a lemon and consistently gives issues. He has always fixed it in a timely manner and knows all the issues. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Took my car here for a smog test, The owner his name was Sam told me the test failed due to a "communication error". As a woman, I suredidn't know what that meant, so he told me they would charge $90 to diagnose the problem. I said no and I took my car to another place, and it passed smog without any problem and also half price.
