Don't let the exterior fool you. Everything was delicious and fresh. There is AC inside so don't worry about the heat. Went for breakfast and they had everything from pancakes to pozole. I saw a Comercial about this place, and had my doubts, but stopped in while I was in Tucson, and I was really surprised how good the food was, and it's an all you can eat imagine that. They have 2 locations, but I suggest going to the one on west Drexel Road. The restaurant was very clean, the service was awesome and the food was delicious and at $16.99 mon-Thu it was a no brainer. They are also opened on weekends $18.99 Fri-Sun. This is a Sinaloa style Mexican food which for the prices are not bad considering all you can eat buffets are becoming a thing of the past & hard to find at a reasonable prices. The dessert bar had jello and cookies. The food served here not only didn't looks appealing but it tasted even worse. The only basic foods were beans and rice. My wife and I decided to stop in for the first time and try the buffet. What a waste! The food was terrible! They charged us $22.00 each for what little we ate. I am American and my wife is Dominican and we both could not discern what we were eating. There were no listing of the items, we attempted to eat, above the selections. And In many instances the tamales, and other foods were not warm, but cold. I don't mind paying for food that is appetizing and tasty, but this was far from that. Went today and didn't see a buffet option other reviews from a year ago are mentioning, but Los Mezquites was hands down the best place I ate at while visiting Tucson (I ate a lot lol). You may miss and drive past this spot, so watch for the mesquite smoke on the side of the road! This restaurant is on gravel with a tent set up, but the main attraction is the chef multitasking; on the grill or chopping carne asada and tripas on the wooden plank. The condiment bar was fully stocked and all of the sauces were delicious. I ordered one Lorenzo carne asada (tostado with refried beans and carne asada) and two carne asada tacos. The tacos were so damn good, I ordered two more and was lucky enough to get a grilled jalapeño and onions! They fill the tacos with so much meat, they give you an extra tortilla on the bottom to catch any meat that spills over lol. The sweet lady only speaks Spanish and the only thing I could say to her was delicioso and duerme. I literally left in a euphoric state. Way to end my visit to Tucson! read more

If we are ever in town we'll probably be back but to take a 2hr drive for the price more than likely not. It's confusing because you sit yourself and drinks are pricey and small. We moved to Tucson from Florida recently. We were looking for the ultimate Mexican Breakfast buffet... and we found it here !! The setting is quaint and traditional with its colorful garden and beautiful potted plants in the outdoor sitting area. The buffet had everything we were looking for and more. The food is flavorful, bursting with all of the goodness one would expect when eating Mexican food. The owner was grilling Carne Asada outside and stopped to let us sample a piece and talked to us about his history of ten years in this building. Me and my husband ate so much we ended up with "Food Coma" we could barely walk out and felt it was one of the best breakfasts ever! We will definitely be back! Things to consider before you go: After 9 am is CROWDED!, inside seating is a bit warm, outside is a bit fresher, but not as many seats. Los Mesquites should be called 'Let's go eat this'! This place is awesome! Super friendly and priced right. I don't speak a lick of Spanish but the sweet ladies worked with us and helped us through the buffet process. The buffet for breakfast is 8.99 and for kids 5 to 9 $4.
