We used to really like this restaurant. However, there have been changes and not for the better. The carnitas was very dry, and as a result, difficult to eat. They added cilantro rice but forgot to add the flavor. I've never had cilantro rice without lime. The topper was when one of the staff cleaned off the table next to us. It had lots of chips and other bits of food on it. She simply swept them onto the floor, right in the traffic pattern. There it all sat for people to walk on. The location has the Mexican decor that you would expect. The staff is friendly and our server checked on us a couple times. The prices are reasonable, and the dining area is clean. Based on these observations you would think the review would be higher. Unfortunately when it comes to the most important area to review this restaurant struggles. The food is average. We order taquitos for an appetizer and we had Ground beef enchiladas, Asad street tacos, and Pollo San Marcos. All of these were ok. They needed salt, and more seasoning. Taquitos were dry and the salsa didn't help. The enchilada red sauce taste like it's out of a can. Nothing special about the sides of rice and retried beans. Overall this review was based on the food and we expected more from an "Authentic " Mexican restaurant. read more

We visited Los Pinos for the first time tonight and we will be back. The entire experience was a delight. They were quite just so we had a bit of a wait to get a table. We went to the bar snd ordered a margarita as we heard they were great. They were quite good and packed quite a punch! We were escorted to our table in just a few minutes. We had ample time to review their extensive menu as we enjoyed our drinks and the chips, salsa, and warm bean dip. Yummy! Prut ordered came out quickly and was visually and tastefully prepared. The chicken enchilada dinner was great. The enchiladas were filled with shredded chicken and the sides were perfect. The chili relleno dinner was good as well. Just the right amount of egg batter. Lots of cheese inside and the perfect amount of sauce. We enjoyed every bite. They were quite busy but the staff was friendly and helpful. Since things have opened up as the Covid restrictions have lifted, it's nice to see local businesses thrive once again. We noticed a new person who was clearing tables and checking in with diners to make sure all was well. Upon asking, we learned that it was the manager who happened to drop in, saw it was swamped, and immediately jumped in to support his staff. Bravo!! read more

I went to Los Pinos for Cinco De Mayo. It was insanely disorganized. I ordered my food ahead of time. At noon to be ready at 5:30. I arrived at 5:30 and waited in line for an hour. People were cutting the line and getting very angry. Apparently if door dash orders ahead, they can also cut the line. They had no sort of organization. People who were there to pick up food and who were just now ordering were all in the same line. When I asked an employee if my food had been sitting there for the past hour, she said, "I have no idea. I don't know what's going on." When I got my food, it was cold and soggy. The food here is amazing. The staff is so courteous and welcoming. We have come at least three times since discovering this jewel a month or so ago. Price is commensurate with the market - but the portions and quality is outstanding. I recommend the Albondigas and Chicken Tortilla Soup - especially with an entree! I am originally from Southern California where we have the best, Mexican restaurants, and then then most recently Bay Area. This place in my opinion is comparable to SoCal Mexican restaurants. We ordered food from Los Pines DoorDash last weekend. We ate dinner about 7:30 pm. About 2:00 a.m. is when I awoke in a cold sweat, crazy headache and food poisoning. Yep, food poisoning. Vomiting and diarrhea that lasted until 6:30 a.m. and benched me the entire day. It was so violent at one point, we debated a hospital trip. I've had good food at this place in the past, but if food poisoning is an option on the menu, I'm now done with Los Pinos for good. Oh thank the Lord we found this place. We live in El Dorado Hills, and though we love the food at the local taqueria, the lady who takes the orders has just become so unbearably rude that my husband finally said, "I'm not going back". But, this morning, he woke up desperate for a Mexican breakfast. So I googled and found this GEM in Cameron Park. I can't believe anyone has had the audacity to give it bad reviews. It currently opens at 9:00 AM, which I'll grant you is a bit late for breakfast, but man is it worth it. So flavorful and the service was impeccable. Furthermore, the decor / ambiance is the best of any Mexican restaurant in the Folsom / El Dorado Hills / Placerville vicinity. My husband ordered from the menu, but I was craving a Honduran breakfast, so I just told the waitress what is in a Honduran breakfast, and the chef cooked my special order TO PERFECTION! I was so pleased that they were not afraid to get creative. The bill was very reasonable, so reasonable that my husband tipped the waitress 40%. The food came out of a dumpster and was reheated. I was sorely disappointed a Mexican joint in CP would be this low of quality. We ordered the fajita for 2 combination with steak, chicken and carnitas. The fixings includes a teaspoon of sour cream & a micro teaspoon that was premade from Walmart. The beans were out of a can and the rice must have been microwaved. I am completely appalled to even be writing a review but when food is this low quality, the world needs to be informed. The steak, carnitas (dry), beans, rice and complementary salsa were all EXTREMELY bland...no flavor...none. I will say, the chicken in the fajitas was the only meat on the plate that had flavor. My boyfriend was joking on the way home El Pollo Loco or Taco Bell would have been better than this place. We don't go out of to eat often and we decided to try here. We sat in the bar. We listened to all the staff drama and were barely attended to. We were very specific with our orders and the bartender didn't write them down. Then asked for all the information again as she put them in the computer. Then the food came out wrong and not one apology the whole time. They even tried to take off what shouldn't have been on my plate without making a new order.
