decided to try this place out and found that the service sucks big time and the meat is bland and the beans and rice were nasty and cold, along with the soggy salsa. The prices are way over priced and I've had better mexican food from catering trucks at 1/3 of the price. We basicly stopped eating the food after a few bites due to the bland taste and cold food, When we confronted the staff they were rude and unwilling to refund our money. We have reported this to the BBB and health department and only to find this place has been cited many times before. We would suggest that you save your hard earned money and go somewhere else. I have severe food allergies....to Cilantro....so I usually avoid mexican all together....but Los Pinos, is a favorite spot and in the 5 years I have been a patron they have never tried to kill me.....that can not be said for other taquerias!!!!! They are always super friendly and polite....and I am always in and out in less than 5 minutes.....I do wish they would fix the soda machine....it always looks a bit on the nasty side. read more

I've been eating here for over 2 years since they opened. The food is very good. I often order 3 steak tacos. Not only do they taste great, the cook puts a few little extras on the plate including a cooked chili, some radish and a carrot slice that has been pickled? The kitchen is wide open for everyone to view, a great set up, except you can see the employees neglecting to wash their hands, or organize anything. Pots, pans, and an assortment of cookware litter the counter tops. I ordered a regular burrito, was incredibly dry because they forgot to add salsa. not exactly the most economical price either. One lady went in before us, ordered and got food. We ordered (dine in) and paid. We waited at a table and watched several people come in and get their food. After 20 min. of this, I went to the counter and ask about our food. I was told "it will be right out", however, I saw that they were just starting on one of our items. I ask for my money back, and was given most of what I had paid. If you go, call you order ahead, and don't sit a a table, if you want to get your food. I had read some reviews here and I expected better. First there were six empty tables with dirty dishes, we had to go to the back of the restaurant to find a clean table, and even there they had some with dirty stuff. I had 3 pastor tacos, they were OK but I've had better. Another turn off for me is that like 5 customers that got there after us waited around for service for at least 5 minutes before the lady took the order. She was in the back with the rest of the crew I guess cause you could hear them talking about cable services/companies. They also don't give you enough chips, not even for one person. I appreciate the food choice close to home, but was disappointed with the food and price. The chicken super burrito was take or leave. The grilled chicken had decent flavor, but was swimming in rice. I'd say rice made up about 2/3 of the burrito. The taco salad my wife had was just okay; it's a salad I know so there's lettuce, but normally for a dish like that there's more meat, not mostly greens. Salsa's were decent. This place is right by my house and I'm bummed it's not better. It's hard to go wrong with Mexican food, but this place found a way. I gave them a few tries, but I'm done giving them the benefit of the doubt. One time, the tacos were fine, and then the next time, they were BLAZINGLY spicy. We eat here every now and again and the El tri burrito is awesome, this time I got the fajitas pretty good. My Guy got his usual but they put sour cream in it so they had to fix it overall decent food. The bathroom is really clean and that in my opinion is a big deal. OHHHHHHH, Los Pinos is quite delicious. We went there the other day just to check it out and we were quite stunned by the tasty food we received. Apart from the prices ($7 for a burrito), everything was great. The Burrito tasted damn good, and the nachos were really good as well. Really hope to go back. This place is in a small shopping center close to the house, I've been going here for about a year now, and have always gotten really good food. Nachos with grilled chicken or carnitas are the best. Really good tacos that are always overflowing and tasty, and the El Tri burrito is also a good choice. One complaint is that the salsa bar can be messy at times when they get busy late in the day. I've had good service every time i've been here though, and we knew we would be coming back after our first trip: The soda machine was out of carbonation and the soda was flat, the guy behind the counter immediately apologized and offered us Jarritos sodas from the cooler, we grabbed a couple and on our way out the door he insisted we take a couple extra to make up for the machine being down. We declined, but the gesture alone was enough to earn our business again, which the food more than does on it's own. It's nice having a place like Los Pinos so close, and it seems that whenever it gets a little late(open till 11) and we are not sure what to do for dinner Los Pinos is the first thing that comes to mind. read more

I've eaten here twice now. The first time, I got the chimichanga platter with shredded chicken. The second time, one grilled chicken soft taco and a chile relleno. Both times, food and service were great. The beans and rice are excellent, and the taco was exceptional. I definitely recommend this place. read more

It's really sad. When they first opened a few years back I felt they were the BEST! They were right on the way home when leaving BART. service was good, food top-notch!!!!. Over the last couple of years they have not declined-PLUMMETED is the word! In service AND quality! Every time I go in (always to go because I live close by) my order is ALWAYS wrong!!!! The cashier ALWAYS has to ask the cook (s) if they have them (black beans) (why does the cashier always have to ask if they have black beans????--Starting to think they're saving them for "Special Patrons") I ordered a steak burrito for my roommate---IT WAS PORK!!!! Not the first time her order was totally screwed up. Gave them one more chance today and it's been the worst food yet!!!! Got my order completely wrong and aside from that-It wasn't even good!!! Why did I go back so many times when it was so consistently bad you rightfully may ask. I have been going to Los Pinos since they opened a few years ago and have always received good quality food. The staff is friendly and remembers you by name. This place is decent. Not the best I've had, but for the area with little competition around, it is not a bad place to go. I do love the chorizo burrito and the tacos. The steak can be dry and underseasoned at times but that's easy to fix with a little salsa. Overall, a nice place to eat. I ate here twice this week. First experience the young lady at the cash register was very rude and awkward with my boyfriend and didn't even take his order correctly. The salsa bar was filthy and there are no labels to tell you what is mild or spicy. But the food was good so I went again... same girl at the register. I asked how much something was because I couldn't find it on the menu but she said they had it and she couldn't even find it on the menu... then after I found it myself and ordered and she said 7.95 (its 8.95 for the two taco combo plate I ordered) I questioned the total and she said yes for the 2 tacos. The total was 9.76... not 7.95 and the salsa bar was again very dirty and unlabeled. One of the salsas I had on the first visit seemed mild and this time it was spicy... again decent food but definitely need labels and better training. I ordered a steak burrito and specifically asked for no beans because of allergy. I also asked for no guacamole and light sour cream. When i got home i took a bite nd i could instantly taste beans so i quickly spit it out. I opened the burrito and majority of the burrito was all beans and guacamole. I called the restaurant to let them know the mistake on my order and the woman was so rude, maybe cause shes the one who took the order and screwed it up.
