who puts carrots in the pico de gallo! Also chicken quesadilla for $17 it's dry w/ mostly cheese. Also charged extra for guacamole for my burrito but only added little guac. Overall Honestly the burritos is probably the best thing on the menu.

1st time here. Inside was very nice. Roomy. Great service at the counter. While I waited I had a Modelo At the .omebt it seemed that all orders were pick up or drive through. I was the only one inside buuut it was getting near closing time. Food came out in a decent time. My order was also to go. The taquito were tasty but I had to add cheese. The nachos were loaded good as the bowl also. Good portions on all of them. Overall not bad.

This spot serves drive up, pickup, curbside pickup and delivery. Location it's close to Home Depot and other fast food places. The service was amazing in hand with the speed of service. The ladies at the window are very helpful and friendly. The food: Chicken it's flavorful and very well cooked. The potato salad it's good but overhyped in my own opinion. (I wouldn't get it again) The rice and beans are a good option but nothing great. The cheesecake tastes nothing like cheese. [only my honest review and according to my sense of taste, everyone's different] Chicken it's yummy and I'll definitely get it again.

I love coming to this location since it has a drive through and it across from my office. They have the most flavorful moist chicken I've ever had. The rice is perfectly cooked and is a great side with the beans. I really enjoy the eloté bowl with white meat chicken and avocado. So delicious!! The burrito is giant! My husband was a fan. He always orders burritos with beans and no rice. They have a great deal for two chickens with sides on Tuesday's and it's a perfect amount for my family.

The chicken is moist and delicious, literally flavored to the bone. The elite bowl and bros bowls are great alternative to chicken, rice and beans alone. The regular salsa is so good and a great addition to all the meals. The green salsa has a kick but is flavorful and the red salsa is fire. Rice here is perfect every time. The bean are a good compliment to them and the potato salad is good, the beat I've ever had. I've also had them cater a party with 6 chicken and sides that a was a hit. And the ease of not cooking was priceless for us. This place knocks it out of the park!

That's exactly why it's disappointing to say that over the last year or so, I've noticed a decline in consistency, especially as the prices have continued to increase. The biggest issue is that ordering the chicken has become a bit of a gamble. On a good day, it's incredibly flavorful, juicy, and exactly what keeps me coming back. Unfortunately, there have been just as many visits where the chicken has been dry, overcooked, and lacking quality. The sides are another highlight when they're fresh! They're full of flavor and pair perfectly with the meal. But, much like the chicken, consistency seems to be the challenge. Sometimes everything tastes like it was just made, while other times it feels like it's been sitting for a while. I understand that every restaurant has off days, but when prices continue to climb, customers naturally expect the quality to remain consistent. I know what this restaurant is capable of because I've experienced it at its best for years, and that's why I'm hopeful they'll get back to the quality that made me a regular in the first place. I'll continue stopping by because I know how great the food can be. I just hope they can bring back the consistency that made this place stand out.

I found out about it through my cousin, who's a UCR alum, and I'm really glad I finally got to try it. The staff were super nice and attentive, constantly coming by our table to check if we needed more water, tortillas, or anything else we might want. Even with how busy it was, they still made sure everyone was taken care of, which I really appreciated. The restaurant was packed, and it actually surprised me because I don't usually see that many people at restaurants in Riverside. The energy inside felt lively but still comfortable. One of my favorite parts was the fresh tortillas. They come out hot and fresh from the oven, and you can literally watch them being made right in front of you, which made it even better. And the best part is they're free. We ordered the carne fajitas and chile relleno. The fajitas were incredible, the meat was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, with that perfect smoky sear that comes from being cooked fresh on a hot skillet. Everything came out sizzling and stayed flavorful with every bite. The chile relleno was also really good, with a nice balance of savory and slightly creamy filling that paired well with the sauce. It was actually my first time trying fajitas, and I can confidently say I'll be ordering them again the next time I come back. I definitely plan on returning while I'm still at UCR to make up for all the years I didn't know this place existed.

Unfortunately, this time the experience didn't quite meet my expectations. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad. My disappointment was more about the value and portion size for what I paid. Three slices of brisket, a small cup of pulled pork, and three small sides came to around $60. Not to mention, the pulled pork was rather dry. There were no dinner rolls or cornbread included either. I was also disappointed with how the food was packed for my to-go order. Proper packaging is important, especially when transporting food, because leaks can make a mess in your car or elsewhere. Unfortunately, the packaging did not seem secure enough to prevent that, and it did not add much value to the overall experience. For that price, especially after making a 20-mile drive, I expected either a more generous portion or something exceptional enough to justify the cost. If the price had been more reasonable, or the quantity better matched the price, I definitely would have considered coming back. Unfortunately, at $60 for what I received, it just wasn't worth the drive for me.

How did HomeState, a restaurant celebrated for bringing an authentic taste of Texas to Southern…read moreCalifornia, become so beloved in a city synonymous with the LA street taco? Most people would point to its outstanding tacos, built on pillowy, made-from-scratch flour tortillas and comforting Austin-style Tex-Mex fillings. HomeState emphasizes slow-cooked meats, warm hospitality, and the welcoming food culture that Texas is known for. They are also well known for their perfectly seasoned eggs, making their breakfast tacos especially popular. I ordered two of their Anytime (Daytime) Tacos: the Picadillo (grass-fed ground beef, potatoes, carrots, cabbage slaw, and pickled jalapeños) and the Chicken (organic achiote-marinated chicken, cabbage slaw, and guacamole). The achiote-marinated chicken was exceptionally tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. The achiote gave the meat its signature deep-orange hue and subtle earthy flavor, while the generous portions of creamy guacamole and crisp cabbage slaw added freshness and a satisfying crunch. The Picadillo taco was equally impressive. The combination of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, sweet carrots, crunchy cabbage slaw, and tangy pickled jalapeños created a delicious balance of flavors and textures. A few generous dabs of HomeState's housemade hot sauces elevated it even further. The seasoned beef paired with the red salsa reminded me of a Taco Bell Burrito Supreme--but made with fresher, higher-quality ingredients, more texture, and a welcome kick from the jalapeños, all without the sour cream. These tacos do not hold together for very long, but that is largely because the fillings are so juicy and generously portioned. It was a trade-off I was more than willing to accept. The undisputed star of the meal, however, was the fresh flour tortillas. They lived up to every expectation--pillowy soft, perfectly thick, buttery, and incredibly fresh. They were not just a vessel for the fillings; they were the defining element of the entire meal and easily the highlight of my visit. To wash everything down, I ordered the hibiscus limeade. The refreshing blend of steeped hibiscus, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup struck a perfect balance between tart and sweet, making it an ideal companion to the rich tacos. Traditional LA street tacos will always define the city's taco culture, but HomeState has carved out its own loyal following by embracing something entirely different. When you are craving Austin-style Tex-Mex and some of the freshest, fluffiest flour tortillas you will find anywhere in Los Angeles, HomeState absolutely delivers. 4.5 stars
