The food here is legit. Their salsas are done very well. The staff working here are good people. The taquitos rancheros, macho burrito, and tacos meet the standard you expect to find down in LA or SF. Their California burrito with carne asada & chicken tortilla soup is really good. The carne asada fries are also delicious and meant to be shared. Have been coming to them 4 years now and they are consistant in quality. They have large Mexican coke bottles on hand which taste better than the high fructose corn syrup ones that we have here in the United States. Would like to see this place grow and become a bigger resturaunt with a bartender-cocktail menu and more food options but bottom line it is one of the few places to get good food in Kingston. read more

My wife and I finally did it--we dined in at Los Tres Compadres instead of our usual grab-and-go routine! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. With about 8 or 9 cozy tables inside, the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like long-lost cousins at a family reunion (the kind where everyone actually likes each other). My wife ordered the pollo y crema, while I went all in with the beef macho burrito--because, let's be honest, if a burrito has "macho" in the name, I have to see if I measure up. The flavors? The only regret here has been how long it's taken me to write a Yelp review for this phenomenal taqueria. I've ordered so many times but each time ended up in a food coma of bliss and forgotten to get on Yelp. Anyway, as someone who has enjoyed tacos at local haunts in Mexico to up and down the west coast of the US, Los Tres Compadres is my favorite north of the border! The meat is always flavorful and cooked just right, and I love that they include a bunch of grilled onions and radishes. The salsa is bursting with flavor and joy and manages to further elevate an already heavenly taco. They were a bit inconsistent a few years ago but over the past year they have absolutely SLAYED every time I've gone in for my taco fix. I moved to Washington from California at the end of 2013. I am thrilled to live here and the only thing that I miss from California is the Mexican food. Until today. From the moment that I stepped in the door, I knew it was different, from the charismatic owner to the efficient staff and then to the delightful food. There were 10 of us and everyone loved their meal. I had the chili rellano. Others in my party had fajitas, burritos, soft tacos and quesadillas. And the salsa does not have cilantro, which several of us dislike intensely. It was especially good and I had to bring some home. I highly recommend this restaurant. Just opened on March 1. Nice to have a new place to dine in Kingston. The menu is not extensive but enough categories for most people to have choice. I ordered a salad with carne asada, in a regular bowl, because their other meats are marinated with soy which does not fit my dietary restrictions. The salad was large and was presented well. Loved the many dressing options including salsa verde, regular salsa, standard dressings as well as balsamic. Pretty unique for local Mexican restaurants. Clean restaurant, distancing enforced, inside dining with tables marked to not sit, and so forth. All the folks working there were very kind and helpful. I commend any business person(s) willing to start up a restaurant during this crazy time. But, the communities are craving good food. My biggest complaint is the cook should've kept his mask over nose and mouth, but he didn't. And, a minor thing: I wish they offered curbside pickup. It appeared they had enough staff inside to have that option. Everyone has different tastes so give them a chance to see if they make your list of go to restaurants in the neighborhood. read more

Ordered takeout: Food: Ordered the veggie burrito. It's a pretty classic burrito, greens, guac, beans and rice. Pretty massive burrito- it fed two people! This place caught my attention on the way to the botanical gardens, which made it easy to choose where to have lunch after touring the beautiful gardens. Lots of choices of delicious Mexican dishes on the menu, service was friendly and the orders were coming out quickly. I ordered three tacos, two being carnitas and one being Asada, along with the chips and salsa, it was plenty. House salsa was tasty without being spicy. The meat in the tacos was plentiful and great tasting and quality, almost too much to fold the tortilla.. So good!! I hadn't had a soda in ages, so it was to tempting to NOT have a Mexican coke, which went very well with the tacos. With the cilantro, onions, and radishes to add to the already tasty meat, these were great tacos. We finally tried this restaurant last night and we cannot believe we waited so long. After discovering that they now have online ordering (we're those kind of people), we dove in. The online menu is a little spotty with descriptions, but we powered through and hoped for the best. I was a little worried that the boring bean taco that I ordered wouldn't be that exciting, but I was delighted to be wrong! I want all the bean tacos there forever. They were PILED with cilantro and raw onion with some grilled onion and radish on the side with a wedge of lime. The chile relleno was also delicious, as were the rice and beans on the side. My husband's macho chicken burrito defeated him, and this man regularly polishes off burritos the size of a forearm. He was excited to finally have leftovers the next day. The chicken quesadilla was sizable and equalled two meals for our 10 year old. The salsas... the real stars of the show. I am a salsa snob, if a restaurant serves boring, jarred red salsa with their chips, I'm out. We purchased two bags of chips and sides of rojo and verde to try. We were given those as well as smaller containers of what I assume is their house salsa, rojo, and verde. I don't know what magic they're working with, but they were all unbelievably delicious. The house salsa is orange in color, packs amazing flavor, and isn't too spicy so you actually taste it. The rojo is deliciously smokey and packs a little heat on the back end. The verde is a tangy tomatillo with zero spice, just a bright freshness. No photos because we snarfed it all before thinking about it. I honestly feel bad writing this because the family seems like they are trying; but, it was the worst meal I have ever bought. I ordered fajitas and what I got was sautéed pieces of chicken and a few bell peppers and onions in grease with a mound of fajita seasoning on it. I am pretty sure the beans came from a can, the other peoples meals weren't any better. The food is top notch this side of San Diego made by real Latinx. The way they treat their customers and how fast the service is makes it a repeated trip for me. Generally, the dining area is quiet, spread out and doesn't usually have patrons which, to me, is a welcome departure and makes it a go-to destination when I want to have lunch with a close friend. The only downside I can really think of is I wish they had more offerings and I really want to try their Menudo, which they can never seem to get the ingredients for. Moved to Kingston recently and decided to try Los Tres Compadres for lunch takeout. Wow. Food was amazing, including the side salad! I'm so used to the "salad" being a few sad pieces of iceberg with maybe a slice of cucumber or tomato on top. This salad was AMAZING with cranberries, mandarin oranges, lettuce, tomato, cucumber... delightful! I saw some mixed reviews but given this is a new place I wanted to give it a shot. First of all stuff are super friendly. Secondly I really liked all their tacos. I tried al pastor, chicken, and carne asada. As seen in the photo each taco was full of meat and vegi. I especially liked the grilled onions. In fact I got to see how they were preparing and was surprised to see how meticulously the chef was cutting and trimming them. He took time to make sure it was done right. If you watch a chef preparing vegi you can tell a lot about his cooking philosophy. I also like how their taco wasn't overly spiced. It was just perfect to bring out the full flavor. Come check it out. Now that they have been in business for a few months I think they ironed out all the kinks mentioned by earlier reviewers. read more

Not sure why everyone rates this place so highly. Tried 4 tacos and the chicken chimichanga. The tacos were just okay and the chimichanga was bland and full of beans. Good tortillas on the tacos but all the meats I tried were pretty dry and under-seasoned. The interior of the restaurant is boring... A bunch of plastic tables with poorly placed wood stickers on top. Overall, authentic cheap Mexican if you like it on the bland side but El Diablos in Poulsbo BLOWS this food away in my opinion. read more
