The Vietnamese iced coffee is always perfect and they have a delicious vegetarian vermicelli bowl - one of view places that offer vegetarian spring rolls. Solid fresh rolls too. They recently had to move locations to a less visible/trafficked area - support this business! Would hate to see them lose customers because of the relocation. read more

12.17.2017 Little O and I came by here while Hubby spent time at the bike store around the corner. H was home sick so I decided to bring her some phó to make her feel better. Little O and I decided to grab a couple orders of Shrimp Spring Rolls to hold us over. The order had two decent sized rolls for $5.95. Each roll came with a side of their Lotus-made sauce and a packet of chili paste. All the ingredients were fresh because you can taste everything in it. Little O even noticed the mint flavor when she usually doesn't. I ordered the #24 Filet Mignon Beef Noodle Soup for H. I know chicken soup is usually better when you're sick but I don't think I've seen chicken phó. Portion size was huge for a large bowl, it actually fed three of us. I cooked the meat before adding it to the soup. The broth had really good beef flavor and all the veggies were fresh and crisp. I would definitely come back again. read more

This little spot completely surprised me; I was looking around for an authentic (or at close as I can get) Vietnamese joint without having to struggle through traffic to go garden Grove/Westminster and happened upon this on Yelp. Ive been craving some good thit nuong for almost a whole week and was so desperate I swallowed my doubts and said heck, why not?? Place is clean and quiet, with nice employees and Asian decor to create a relaxing ambiance. We ordered fairly quickly and food came out in very good time: Bun thit nuong: there was a ton of delicious, tender grilled pork that was slightly sweet and extremely fragrant--huge burst of flavor with every bite. They also gave tons of fresh veggies with the dish. Bun lemongrass beef: also very tender and fragrant, this time with the taste of lemongrass yasss! The hubs had been having trouble eating due to the heat but even he managed to finish the whole thing! Both are good sized portions for people with medium to small appetites--if you are ravenous, consider ordering a couple sides. The only thing I'd recommend would be to add some mint or other herbs to the veggies, but I know there are some customers who might not appreciate the taste. Also, I noticed quite a few other fellow yelpers commenting on their impeccable service--they're absolutely right! If you are craving Pho, Lotus Bistro is the place to go! I always order a large #20 (chicken pho) and it is consistently delicious! Some weeks it tastes a little more bland than others (less salt), but usually it's perfect! Portion, food quality, and service is great. Sometimes it takes a while to get your bill (especially if you're there towards the end of the night), but you can just walk up to the register and get someone's attention. I also highly recommend the Vietnamese Dumplings (in the New section of the menu) and their shrimp rolls. I've had the calamari too. Can't really go wrong with anything. Enjoy! read more

Don't come here if you want good authentic Vietnamese food. It appeared that whatever was left in the kitchen is what is used to put together the entrees. I have never heard of an Asian restaurant that runs out of white rice! The flavors are wrong and just because you put fish sauce in it, doesn't make it goodI noticed more togo orders than actual diners. I don't know how they have remained opened charging what they charge and lacking quality and flavor in the food. Was having my car serviced in the area so decided to have lunch around here with a friend to pass the time. Since I'm recovering from a cold I really felt like something hot and soupy....and this place was the closest Pho place. When I first entered the place I was pleasantly surprised at the nice casual, cozy, and tranquil decor.....kind of made me feel I'd just entered one of those relaxing Thai spas....:) But seriously, it had a pleasant feel about the place, unlike many other pho places with blank walls and cheapy furniture. Anyway, I'll get right to the food. I had already taken a quick browse of the menu earlier so already knew what I wanted to order.....the Chicken Noodle Soup.....with egg noodles. My friend just ordered the appetizer combination (2 egg rolls, 2 Spring rolls, 4 shrimp torpedo egg rolls) to share. I must say, the noodle soup was actually very good! The soup was flavorful and the egg noodles nice and firm.....just the way I like it. The soup was hot, but not steaming hot.....probably because they had only just opened so were likely not fully ready....but that was fine. My friend and I also really enjoyed the egg rolls, spring rolls, and shrimp egg rolls.....they were fried perfectly and yummy delicious too!.....however, these egg roll skin used are not the traditional type where you wrap them in the lettuce, etc......they're more the Chinese style egg roll wrappers....still yummy nevertheless. Very enjoyable lunch!.....and I was so glad we found this place close by as I didn't want to drive too far. Service was nice, quick, and friendly too. We ordered one with rice and one with vermicelli noodles.The fresh vegetables that came with each meal was varied and to die for! Fresh lettuce, shredded carrots, cucumbers,turnip; there was cauliflower,cabbage,tomatoes even. Different assortment of fresh vegetables came with each meal. The pickled vegetables were perfectly pickled. We had ordered our meals via a delivery service but I had to call them and tell them how much we enjoyed the food and how delicious everything was. The gentleman who answered was so gracious and humble. People usually only call to complain. Was at Hoag Hospital and found this place nearby. Close walk only 10 minutes. The service was great their attentive and friendly. Now I ordered chicken pho and let me tell you that was made with pure love because omg my little belly was so happy drunk that broth all the way up. Luckily we were delayed leaving Balboa Island by traffic and Juliette looked over and spotted this little gem of a restaurant on the corner. We ordered vermicelli with Tofu and seafood pho. The food and service was outstanding. Juliette made some special request since she is plant-based and was able to get custom made sauce for her vermicelli bowl. Then the owner came over and brought some other special sauces for her to have with her vegetable eggrolls. I can't imagine a better place to have a delicious and quick meal after skating for two hours outside along Beach on the Newport peninsula. Sometimes a nice, hot bowl of pho is all you crave in life. I found myself faced wih that exact predicament in Newport. Did a Yelp search and decided to snag some from this joint. Quick breakdown: fast service, huge serving, great broth, and a generous amount of good quality steak. They also give you packets of Siracha, hoisin, and soy sauce when you order to-go. Price was more than fair considering this could have easily fed two people (but I was being a fatty and ate it all, whoops).
