Lotus used to be sooooo good a few years ago! I'm not sure what changed. But the food lacks flavor. And even appears to look less appealing in person vs the pics and videos they post all the time. I want the food that's on the online pics! I had the loud pack. The rice was decently flavorful but it was dry. The corn and potatoe and was dry! Legit may as well had cooked this at home in boiling water. Bc it had nothing exciting about it. I always say I'm going to give them one more try thinking it was a bad day. I got crawfish fried rice to go. Big mistake. I didn't know my food was going to come with a side of styrene, or melted styrofoam. This is the first time I've ordered anything from them since I heard good things but this is a little hard to ignore. I hope this isn't the norm. They should look into other alternatives like using different material for their to go boxes or at least lining the styrofoam with foil to decrease the direct heat contact with the styrofoam. The lotus has 4 locations throughout Houston. This was my first experience and it won't be my last. I walked in and was promptly greeted by the workers. The menu is southern Creole. I can't speak for the other locations, but this one was clean with several tvs and nice amount if seating. I ordered the fish and shrimp combo, the Loud pack, and the Boudin Balls. The order came out in a short amount of time. The fish and shrimp were fried very well, but the Boudin balls was the star here. The crack sauce is worth the price grab an extra! The only thing that was not good was the loud pack which is a Lousiana seafood rice with shrimp and crawfish. The rice was bland and undercooked and not worth the price though it looked nice I wouldn't bother again as it is mediocre at best. I deducted a star because they do not devein their shrimp! I can't wait to go back and try the crab legs and Lobster, but I wouldn't get another dish with shrimp. read more

Next, I ordered a pound of shrimp with potatoes, corn, and sausage. When your order is ready, you have to bring your receipt to the pick up area. I don't care for peas and they were in the rice my main reason for not liking the rice. The sausage and shrimps were good, But what I did love was the boil snow crabs they were seasoned to perfection and boiled correctly.
