Had the eggs and home style corned beef hash breakfast ..... as good as it gets!!

Okay, I sometimes have owners whine to me about my review saying I have no idea how to run a restaurant. I do, but really, I don't have to. Here's a diner that does it consistently. Everything was incredible. The Corner Beef and Pastami omelettes are amazing and probably the largest ever. Hash browns are not the typical frozen potatoes but fresh sliced hash browns. Coffee (a pet peeve) was delicious. Service some of the best ever. Again owners that have 2 and 3 star reviews, stop your whining and fix your issues. If a restaurant can have an average 4 star rating with hundreds of reviews, why can't you? read more

Have you EVER paid $27 for breakfast for two? Well, we did today, and I can tell you why, because of the cook. My husband had an omelette special, and I asked for three scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon, some tomato slices too. When the waitress put the order in I could see his reaction, and I could hear him tell her to charge for the extra egg and the tomato slices(I could SEE that my order annoyed him, the true tell of a mediocre cook). To be fair, the food is good, but a lot of places do good breakfast. With all the completion in the area, I will not patronize a business that nickels and dimes it's customers. Craving a tuna melt the other day and found this gem! The tuna was fresh and delectable, albiet a little too much celery in my opinion. The rye bread was out of this world and was so flavorful and a perfect balance to the tuna. The French fries... were absolutely unreal. Hands down the best fries I've tasted in years! If your in downtown Mount Clemens and your craving a reuben then this is the place to be. I personally am not a big fan of ham and cornbeef, but it is Louie's specialty. The sandwiches were around $6.75. My boyfriend ordered a rueben sandwich which looked good, but I stuck with ordering my trusted tuna melt. I really liked the cozy lil' hole in the wall setting. It was decorated with wooden piggy's and other country style items. The waitress was nice and prompt with our order. My tuna sandwich was average. I did like that it wasn't smothered in mayo. I also overheard a waitress tell a customer that they can order a whole, half or quarter pound of ham. read more

Make no mistake this is not the typical Detroit Coney Island crap for from a can delivered by Sysco or GFS that if you pay attention most every restaurant locally uses. This is real food served in a very clean atmosphere by very friendly staff. read more

Best place for Corned Beef in Mount Clemens. Love their fast, friendly service. Awesome food. I love the Split Pea with Ham, they have it everyday. Salads are huge and amazing from what my mother says. If we want to treat ourselves on a Sunday morning/afternoon we come here. You can also order a whole ham from them. Great specials, too. Oh man.. you want good pork in your life... come to Louies! The restaurant is small and cozy, the parking lot is a bit cramp and they have a DRIVE THROUGH. Yes people.. a drive through. So if you want a meal but want to avoid all people contact: call your order in and literally in 10 minutes you can drive right up to the window and grab your tasty treat. I even order right at the drive through and my food was ready in minutes. Not a long wait at all. I also believe they deliver. I think you have to spend up to $35, but this joint delivers! Get your co workers to have a cute little office picnic, order a bunch of meat and have Louies come to you. I think that's the perfect scenario for an office lunch date. Corned beef is the best and I always get some sort of corned beef hash (either the corned beef hash breakfast with 2 eggs or the corned beef omelet). I know I should venture out and eat more pig goodies but I'm obsessed with their homemade corned beef. Try it. Love it. Sandwiches are staked: like meat on meat on meat. I could eat 1/2 for lunch and save the other 1/2 for dinner. Pastrami (my favorite meat ever) is a must try. We have been coming here for years. When you use to order the Louie's Ham stack it would come with a piece of ham on top of the bun, which they have parted ways with. That was our fav part for some reason. Maybe because we have never seen it before. The buns have changed it seems. They're still good but taste cheaper and thawed from being frozen. I hope they kick it back up a notch, I don't want to have to try and find a new ham place. read more

Well, we gave Louie's another chance because of their delicious omelettes. I don't know how a restaurant can so consistently disappoint, but Louie's definitely gets five stars for consistency. This morning the waitress interrupted me three times while I was ordering (talking to another waitress and talking to another table) my boyfriend found a hair in his eggs and soggy bacon, and I couldn't get our waitress to come back to our table to give me a side I'd ordered. It's incredibly frustrating to try to flag down a waitress who has dropped off a check at the table two minutes after we got our food, and has decided that your table doesn't need anything else.This is a very small restaurant, with at least four waitresses on staff it should have much better service. It seems to me that the problem is disorganized staff. We will not be returning. read more

A great local spot. We stopped in for lunch just before noon and the place was already packed. Many people were ordering breakfast and it looked delicious, typically diner-style food with plenty of omelets and other favorites. We were there for lunch so I ordered the Louie's salad with corned beef and Swiss (I asked for no ham or American cheese). It was gigantic! It was really filling and delicious and I took half of it home. It fulfilled my tasted for the corned beef sandwich but in a somewhat healthier variety. read more

This place is very over priced to be a Coney Island. Only customers they have are the old crowd. Food is not as good as priced.

When I go home to Michigan I must eat at this place. The service is always on point and the food is delicious

Wow, corned beef hash was the best my husband has had. Real corned beef. I had the Reuben with a bowl of bean soup. Everything is home made, very good portion sizes (2 meals for me!). Been here before, will definitely be back! Service is attentive and very nice. read more

Great food and very friendly service. The ham is cooked right there and is tender and flavorful. They serve generous portions that you will want to take home. The building is modern, clean and has great parking on the premises. It is in a revitalized section of Detroit that is easy to access. My only criticism is that they are only open until 7 PM but I'm sure that will change as Detroit's revitalization continues. I found this place through Yelp. The name drew me in and I was hooked. I tried out the piggie omelette, a gargantuan omelette filled with pork sausage links, ham and bacon. Plus some other stuff. With hash browns the meal filled the platter evenly. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash whoch was down to perfection, crispy exterior not burnt. The only downside was that I seemed to have ordered a food challenge which was great. My only drawback would be the amount of seats available during peak hours. Louies is my go to place for either Saturday or Sunday breakfast !! In my opinion, they make the best omelet around, and their hash browns are pretty dang good also !!! My husband usually gets the corn beef samich, which he really loves from there. The waitstaff is friendly to everyone, but treats the regulars ( they see us almost every weekend ), extra special ! I don't even have to tell them what I want to drink, they know me and know that it's ALWAYS iced tea, no lemon ! ;D Sometimes, the waitress has it in hand before we even sit down ;p There are times when it does get very busy, so there may be a wait for a seating, but they are SO worth it !! read more

Just like the Louies at Eastern Mkt. Huge omelets, big sammichs, and decent corned beef. A lot smaller than E.M. so if your not there early on a Sunday you'll be in line. Very clean, and spot on waitresses. read more

I work nearby and thought I would try a new place to eat for lunch will good reviews . Upon arrival I noticed there where only 6 people in the restaurant with high reviews. I asked to sit in a booth and was told that since I was alone i can only sit at the counter or a table. I insisted a booth and the waitress said sorry counter or table so I informed her I would take me business elsewhere and left the establishment . I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager once I explained my situation she asked me to return. I am Disabled Veteran and need the extra room for my legs but do not feel I have to explain my injuries to everyone. They will never get my business. Not a Veteran friendly establishment. read more

$9.00 for 3 Eggs and Bacon with toast, not including the coffee...when I asked the server to explain the ridiculous price, she smiled as if she gets this question a lot, and said the bacon was very high quality. When I went to pay, and the gal asked me how everything was, I told her I felt the price was really high...her response? "The price is on the menu, can't you read?" This place is just a greasy spoon, nothing special, and it won't ever be with staff who speak to their customers like pigs. read more

The food is decent and so is the service, but the prices are too high. That being said I do like the drive-thru option and dining in is somewhat entertaining do to all of the pigs around the place. Unfortunately it is a fairly small place so don't bring a crowd. read more

While the food is not that bad, they are filled with incompetent workers. I was recently given the wrong order, which i didn't realize until I got back to my office. On my way back to return it, it fell out of the bottom of the bag because the juice from the barely wrapped pickle leaked. I returned, received MY order, demanded my tip to be returned and left. Did I feel bad about taking the tip? Yes, until I got back to my office and saw they gave me the wrong salad dressing. They suck as did my salad now. Don't go there!!! read more
