Multiple members of my family love this place and I can see why. The last time I was here we got some burritos to go and I got a mole burrito. As expected, the service here was friendly and quick. Rather than order takeout, we actually had a meal inside this time. Their vibe is a cozy neighborhood spot, that's great for groups of all sizes. I was really tempted to order a lot of the different items on their pretty large menu, but I've been on a health kick so I wanted to try their healthy burrito. This comes with lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and rice and beans. I used a good amount of their salsa from their self-service salsa bar. I thought the burrito was tasty and it felt a lot healthier. Rating: 3/5 Stars I really wanted to love this place, but the experience was a bit of a roller coaster. The asada tacos were easily the highlight--solid 8/10 and definitely the "hit" of the meal. The carnitas were decent (around a 5 or 6), and while the salsa verde was good, the other salsas lacked a deep, authentic sabor. However, as a Mexican who knows my beans, the refried beans were a major disappointment. They tasted like they came straight from a can and had a strange oil flavor that just didn't sit right. Pro Tip: Ask for extra lime and cilantro. They tend to go heavy on the onions but light on the greens. Yummm! Real great find in the neighborhood. We ordered Super Burrito, Fajita Mix and tacos (Fish and Al Pastor). Burrito and Taco Bell:5 Fajita would have been great but the sizzler came to us first and the condiments and tortillas came late so it got a bit cold. We took it home and reheated and ate it in the evening. Also 1 small pick: I felt a little unwelcome when asked for where the condiments were for the fajita as it was getting cold. Decent amount of tables for parties of 4 or 6. They serve you a big bowl of chips and 2 kinds of salsa (red and green). The staff is friendly and kind. The menu is loaded with different kinds of dishes: breakfast, tacos, burritos, plates, salads, combos, soups, mariscos, etc. More than your typical meat options. They have lengua, al pastor, and birria. The carnitas is really good!! We ordered a large horchata and it came in a giant quart size beer mug! Yeah!!! I have never had birria before but decided to try their Quesadilla Harina Birria. It was just delicious - the meat was so tender and steeped with great flavor. There are two on a plate and it comes with the consomé. This is going to be one of my go to comfort foods for sure. This place is nestled within a shopping center so plenty of parking. This was my first time here. It's in a strip mall but I never let location sidetrack me from the food lol. The Chile Verde was tender, tasty and full of flavor. The Quesabirria tacos were a little different, as the tortillas weren't as orange colored or crispy as I've had before but the flavor was delicious and didn't disappoint. The rice was fluffy and not overcooked. The Refried Beans were silky, and flavorful. The chips were freshly made and it was the first time I've been to a Mexican restaurant and liked the green salsa better than the red. The red was good but if they added a little more lime, I think it would bring it up a notch, but even that wasn't enough for me to take away a star. The service was also courteous, friendly and timely. If you live nearby, 30 mins away or passing through Pleasanton this place is DEFINITELY worth the stop. read more

We were in Pleasanton for business and I was craving Caldo de Pollo. A quick Yelp search and I selected BT. It is in a strip mall. Upon entering I noted it was very clean. Salvador and Oscar greeted us. They were personable and inviting. They had a chip bar so we helped ourselves. I was glad that the selection of three sauces were not all spicy. Chips could have been a bit fresher but they were tasty. My Caldo and Huevos Rancheros came and they were the most Flavorful we have had in the states. The far bathroom Was very clean which is a priority to me. This is a great pick give them a try you won't be disappointed. Nice Latin decor, sign for Oakland Roots. Seating is practical and plenty. Not your typical 'taqueria'. Even though it is in their name, this is real close to sit-down Mexican food in terms of food. Now in service, then yes, maybe taqueria-ish, as you scan the big menu board on the wall, order through a register, then get a number and sit, and it will eventually get brought out. But food wise, they've got cooks that have decent restaurant experience. Most taquerias, the food does not come out pretty, food comes out fast and usually just 'slung' in a tortilla/plate. I don't mind that, as long as the food is tasty, and for street food, I don't knock appearance. Now in a sit-down format where food is on a nice plate, I may be a bit more judge-y. Here in the 2-3 times I've came in, food always looks way above the norm for 'taqueria' fare. But this is also Pleasanton, where there's a little money demographically, and I don't even think they have a 'lower income' neighborhood where immigrants can live. Carnitas Tacos ($3.75/4*) I got these over a year ago and I think they were just a litle over 3 bucks then. I think this is closer to the current pricing. But good tacos, a little bigger than street/truck tacos, maybe 4-5 biters versus just 2-3. Good legit carnitas that they crisp slightly and they really dress up their tacos here, usually with a salsa for each taco, so not just cilantro and onion. They just warm their tortillas versus griddling with oil, which I prefer. And if you get any of their specialty tacos like the Tacos Al Carbon, the 3 tacos you do get will be stuffed and totally topped with lettuce, sour cream and grated cotija, quite the meal. Carne Asada Tacos ($3.75/4.5*) They brown and season their thin meat slices here. On point. Steak and Shrimp Platter ($26/4*) Mixed bag for me, so close to being great. Thin carne asada was money, even though totally cooked through its still juicy and flavorful as heck. This isn't sliced, it is a one piece deal, so you have to use your steak knife, which no taqueria usually has. Here you get actually nice silverware. The shrimps were just okay to me. Good seasoning/flavor just a tad mushy to me. Nothing horrible just didn't raise any brows for me. And all these proteins came atop a generous mound of sauteed peppers and onions, so it really gave off fajitas vibes. The beans are great, good flavor but could have been a tad warmer. Sit down Mexican places always serve this piping hot so when you dig into it there's a beautiful cheese pull. Here the cheese doesn't pull. The red rice had good flavor BUT it was surprisingly coldish, like room temp at least. The good is the texture was fine, like it wasn't hard or stale, just not warm. At least the beans were somewhat warm. If these rice and beans would have came out nice and hot then I would have given this plate a 4.5* rating. There were also a nice mound of shredded lettuce, salsa fresca and sliced avocado which gave it a nice freshness touch. With the warm corn tortillas on the side and a bottle of Mexi beer, I enjoyed this more substantial meal here. Oh and don't neglect their salsa bar. The redish one is a bit more earthy with a light to medium heat and they have this orange hued one too, that taste like a pot roast braising liquid. I like to mix the 2 and slather it onto any main dish. I'll even bring one extra ramekin home to eat with whatever meal I make in the next day or so. We were at an event in Pleasanton this morning and when we got hungry, we looked at the vendors that were present. While many offered foods that we were familiar with and enjoyed, we were in the mood for something specific. We found it in the form of a taco truck that offered 4 quesabirria tacos on homemade corn tortillas with consomme for $20. Unfortunately, when we went to place an order, we were told that they would not be ready to serve for about 30 minutes. This was already 15 minutes after the event opened. A quick look on yelp brought us to Bronzes Taqueria. Of the reviews that I read, only one was less than 4 stars and depending on what was ordered, some of their complaints may have been reasonable, while others were not the fault of the restaurant. Guacamole and Sour Cream are not offered on all burritos. Chips and Salsa are self-service so a delivery service would need specific instructions to get them. We walked in the door and there were a group of three men waiting for a to-go order and several tables in use. Other guests were helping themselves to Chips & Salsas. There were two flat panel televisions, one at each end of a long dining room. The one showing a tennis match was ignored while a soccer game seemed to be everyone's focus. Order at the register, pay and get a table topper for your table. Your dishes will be delivered to your table as the kitchen prepares them. The dining room is bright, clean and spacious. Most of the seating is four and six tops. The menu is on a corner near the ordering counter and the salsa bar. We ordered: Quesabirria Taco - Excellent! Meaty, juicy, super flavorful. Almost didn't need the consomme because the taco was so moist on its own. Not to worry, I just drank it! Delicious! Tostada Cerviche Pescado - The perfect balance of fish, onion, lime juice topped with slices of avocado on a nice crisp tostada shell. Fish Taco - I was a bit worried when the order taker didn't ask if we wanted the fish grilled or battered and fried. What came out appeared to be pan-fried and it too was on point. Burrito Chilango - I had just tasted my first burrito stuffed with a chile relleno a few weeks ago in Hayward. Today, I had my second. Darn nearly perfection in a flour tortilla. The only thing I might change is slices of avocado instead of guacamole to give the burrito more "bite". Horchata - We shared a large glass which was probably about 32 ounces with ice. It was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Note that I didn't give scores like I usually do. That's because everything that we ordered was excellent and I gave each item a 5 out of 5! Everything was on point. The only weak point that I noticed was the Chip and Salsa Bar. It was minimalistic with three sauces and chips. Seriously legit Mexican restaurant in the TriValley! Wow! So glad we tried this place. DH and LO went there to pick up some food to go. And to try a fresh churro as a special treat. DH saw some landscapers getting food here, so you know it's authentic, lol! The menu is immense, so definitely look through the reviews and decide beforehand. There is a salsa station with fresh, thin chips. Chips are available in paper bags to go. DH said someone used a regular cup for salsa instead of the mini plastic cups. Lol, must be a regular customer! Red salsa was mild, a bit watery, but had a lot of flavor. Green salsa was fresh and moderately spicy, balanced flavor. Wasn't too forward with mint, cilantro, or avocado. My favorite here. Orange salsa was the spiciest. It was surprisingly savory. It is NOT cheesy, as another reviewer said! It is not funky and should pair well with almost anything. DH was a huge fan of this one and grabbed an extra container. Here are the items we got: Quesabirria ($6.49) - basically a tortilla with white cheese (mozzarella?) melted on one side, stuffed with stewed meat, folded in half, then pan seared on the outside. Comes with small cup of broth for dipping. Quite savory with deep flavors. Onions, herbs perfectly balanced and complimented the meaty flavor. Traditionally goat meat, although this didn't have a gamey flavor. Maybe beef? Meat was juicy and tender. I can see why this one's a favorite. I think I would have liked it better without cheese next time. Super Burrito with Carnitas ($12.99) - big burrito that's far more delicious than Chipotle's. Stuffed with guacamole, sour cream, beans, rice. What sets it apart from other Mexican places around here is the incredible caramelization from browning the meat. It's an important detail! Oh, that and a lot of salt. It's definitely big enough for 2 meals for regular eaters. Camarones al Mojo de Ajo ($19.99) - shrimp stewed in garlic sauce. Served with refried beans, rice, and corn or flour tortillas. Wow, the sauce was quite flavorful. Layered the flavors here too. Beans and rice were tasty as well. 3 Taco plate with Asada (steak), Pastor (BBQ pork), Pescado (fish) ($18.99 + $1.00 for fish). Probably would have been better eaten there, but preparation seemed authentic. Fish was the favorite. It had generous amounts of very lightly battered white fish. Maybe tilapia. The other two were fine, but dried out by the time they arrived at home. Also comes with beans and rice. Quesadilla ($8.99) - pretty basic, generous amounts of white cheese (mozzarella?). Kids enjoyed this. Comes with sour cream and guacamole Churros ($3.99) - three pieces freshly made. Very nice and crunchy, soft in the middle, not too sweet, not greasy. We enjoyed these! Restaurant itself is clean, not as stark as the photos, not crowded on Saturday for early lunch. There was only one employee bringing out orders and manning the cash register. DH had to wait a little bit, but didn't seem that long. Employee was polite and understood the order correctly, including special request to bring churros out first. Wanted something spicy. Saw that this place had good reviews and had Camarones a la Diabla. I normally go to Casa Orozco, but didn't want to do the whole sit down and have a server wait on you. Based on their Camarones a la Diabla, this place is legit. The sauce was pretty spicy, but not too spicy. The sauce had great flavor. The shrimp were on the smaller size, but there were lots of them. Served simply with some refried beans, rice, and lettuce with sour cream on top. Your choice of Flour or Corn tortillas. I chose Corn. Came with 4 piping hot corn tortillas. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Service was fast and efficient. There was a steady stream of people picking up orders for takeout. Friendly mom & pop restaurant, a hidden gem in strip mall anchored by a Raley's supermarket. I have been craving for huevos rancheros for a few days and it was a relatively early Sunday morning. Although I have been here a few times, I've never had breakfast here. So today's the day. It was delivered on a hugh rectangle plate, a very complete meal with tortillas. The eggs came top of a tortilla with refried beans, rice and salad. I have a small appetite and it filled me up. Of course, it was helped with chips and salsa that was fresh and crispy. I had enjoyed my eggs and never remember it can be so good. I will be back for more and other dishes. So I head here because I had to have what was in the pic. I arrive at Bronzes and it's in a little strip mall type of place in a part of Pleasanton that I have never been to lol. I walk in and I tell the lady " I gotta show you this pic of what brought me here". She laughed and said "ok". I showed her the pic and she said it was the Quesidilla Harina Birria. One of just a few places that serve mole in the Tri-Valley. On a good day, mole is terrific with a complex and deep flavor. Other times however, while it looked like mole, the taste was flat. Churros were tasty but a bit chewy. Maybe they steamed while wrapped in the foil? When the food is spot on, it is delicious. Came out here to look at a truck, didn't work out but so we stopped here for lunch. Very spacious with plenty of seating and parking in the Plaza. They definitely have an insane big menu! Definitely difficult to pick just one order, so I got two! Obviously got their tripa which was sooo good and fatty, glad they had some unique cuts of meat even for pleasanton.
