A place that serves breakfast AND lunch all day long that's not a chain?? Sign me up! We were seated outside pretty quickly and to say there were so many delicious options on the menu to choose from was an understatement! My little one had the kids chunky monkey pancakes and was in heaven!! My hubby and I shared the BBQ chicken sandwich special with fries and the very berry pancakes. The waitress urged us that 2 pancakes were enough and my husband literally laughed in her face... well, guess what?! She was right! Two pancakes were MORE than enough and we ended up taking one to go because we couldn't finish them!! They even give you a tiny cute bottle of real maple syrup along with your meal. Such a nice touch! I got a slice of their mile high apple pie to go because we were stuffed and it was pretty amazing! We will definitely be back to try some other menu items the next time we're in town! read more

Such a quaint spot in downtown Hanover. Indoor and outdoor seating. Portions are large. It was so busy but the staff was efficient. I had the cowboy bowl. The flavors were amazing. This place is everything you'd want from an all-day breakfast joint.  There's a wide variety of items on the menu, from the savory to sweet.  I got the Sweet Potato Black Bean Hash and Free range eggs.  That, along with bottomless coffee and a griddled huge muffin really hit the spot. read more

I know this restaurant is very popular and my husband loved his breakfast, but DO NOT under any circumstances order the avocado toast with poached eggs on top. What I received was cold toast with two day old mashed, ice cold avocado with brown spots and two ice cold poached eggs on top. The eggs were cold due to the ice cold brown avocado and I could not bear the thought of cold poached eggs. My advice to the chef is use an avocado that is room temperature and is FRESH ( not two day old guacamole) never put poached eggs on good right out of the fridge. It was truly terrible and because the restaurant was busy, this leal had no forethought and was thrown together in a rush. It was a wasted breakfast- shame on you Lou's yuck! read more

A classic and adorable diner! We ate here twice during our stay in Hanover and both times had great service and great breakfast. There's a good amount of what I like to think of as "interesting" options for vegetarians, like the overnight oats, acai bowl, and vegan pesto tofu scramble; as well as the traditional options like waffles and pancakes. Hanover doesn't have a ton of options right in the downtown but this is an absolute must if you're visiting. read more

I was promised a free meal from a friend and boy did I get it! A friend of mine offered to take me out to brunch after he dropped off contact with me for half a year. I was finally in the Norwich/Hanover area, which gave me the perfect opportunity to visit him, so he offered to make up for his ghosting by bringing me here. I am an egg addict, so of course I had to have some eggs. I got the Big Green with a poached egg, and the food was a lot for me to eat, but thankfully that meant I got to take home leftovers! It came with cruller French toast which is new to me; I became a fan! (I also have a massive sweet tooth.) This restaurant feels right at home (like it feels like home), being in an old college town. I wish my college town had as many businesses as Hanover does, but then again, I go to school to learn, not to be a foodie. I won't forget my time here, partially because I had such an engaging conversation with aforementioned friend, but also because he paid for my meal. That's the power of friendship! read more

We randomly came upon this restaurant because we were looking for apple pie. We called in to reserve and apple pie (which was amazing and huge for $25). We then decided to dine in . There is a kids menu . We got the big green (must get cruller French toast to share) , burger (perfectly juicy) and grilled cheese for the kiddo . Lou's is a Hanover staple, and should be at the top of your list for breakfast/brunch in the area! Their pancakes (pictured) have been my go-to order since my days at Dartmouth - fluffy, heaping portions, and incredibly delicious. Plus you can get local maple syrup to go with them. Overall, pretty mediocre diner food that's overpriced. Decent for a meal when visiting Dartmouth campus. Baked goods were also average, I'd recommend driving out to the better diners in West Lebanon or heading to KAF or My Brigadeiros down the street for baked items. read more

My daughter and I go here allllllllllllll the time! It's a place where mommy can get her vegan on and coffee, and where my child can get whatever she wants under the breakfast sun! We only go here for breakfast, and we like to beat the unbearable line by showing up at about 730am during weekends, but anytime is good during weekdays. The outdoor seating is great too this summer, and I hope they keep it open during the Fall season too! A wonderful meal all around with reasonable prices. My buttermilk waffle was delicious, and my coffee was standard but hit the spot. They brought out adorable individual glass bottles of maple syrup, which were incomprehensibly good. My husband went with the biscuits and gravy and was impressed with both the portion size and the overall taste. I understand why this place is a staple in the Hanover community. Great cozy, homey, warm, old-fashioned America restaurant with really good baked goods. Seriously, you can't go wrong with anything except choosing something they've already run out of. Be prepared to wait, but my party was only a group of two, so our wait was cut short. My friend enjoyed her black coffee (I thought it was okay) and her mixed breakfast plate. I dived into my French toast with gusto because it was so good! The toast was warm, just cooked and chewy enough, and just buttery enough. The service was amazing and I love the aesthetic/decor. Really cute diner with great breakfast offerings! Came here as a group of 5 and we were seated after a quick wait of no more than 5 or so minutes. The hazelnut coffee was so delicious I will never forget it! Really considerate and accommodating staff! I have celiac and need to eat gluten free, the menu here does have a lot of gluten free options and the staff was really knowledgeable about my options. I did want the Hash & Eggs which was labeled as gluten free but the waitress let me know it's actually not gluten free due to cross contamination. So I'm not sure if they should really keep that menu item labeled as GF, but at least the waitress knew and saved me. I was able to get the eggs Benedict instead on gluten free toast with a side of sausage; it was really filling and I would definitely order it again. It was fast and convenient service with really great food. Would absolutely recommend coming here! read more

We happened to stop here for lunch with no prior knowledge about the place, but it was a good choice. It became clear very quickly that the place is a long-standing local treasure. Lots of good choices on the menu but I went with the chicken and waffles. A bit of a non traditional preparation, but very good. Looking around at other tables everything looked great and prices were very reasonable. I definitely recommend checking it out. read more

Absolutely great breakfast, and the chicken and waffles were to die for. Nice, quant spot in the heart of town. Small inside and a small outside patio.
