One of my go to spots when I head out to eastern Long Island is Love Lane Kitchen. Off the Main Street in Mattituck is a cute little cafe/restaurant that serves delicious food. They have an option for the table or sit at the bar. On their chalkboard on the back wall they have specials that are definitely worth checking with seasonal dishes included. I never had a bad meal here. One of my go to's is their chicken and mango salad. It's so light and refreshing. I've also had their lobster roll once that was amazing. They offer serve yourself coffee among other options of drinks from the menu. There is street parking on the main road, but if that is full, you can find some spots a block or two away. LLK was a great choice for a late breakfast on my most recent drive out east. Great casual atmosphere and tucked away on a quaint street in Mattituck that I never knew existed. The Apple, cinnamon, walnut pancakes were good and the pastrami hash browns were excellent. My other half enjoyed the waffle breakfast. Lots of tasty omelettes I'd like to try also. And the fresh self serve coffee is an excellent pick me up with great flavor. We'll remember LLK on our drives out east. read more

We were looking for a place to have breakfast today and I've learned to trust my fellow Yelpers. Love Lane Kitchen came up and it seems like everyone, or most everyone had good things to say. Located in a quaint little town on the north shore. As we walk up there's a young lady greeting people at the entrance but seems like most are walking away. Turns out there's a 20 minute wait. Ok, so we can walk around town for a bit, and they have a system that texts you when your table is ready. Actually seemed like 10 minutes for the wait. Now the food... I read a lot about the stuffed French toast so how could I resist? Well worth it, delicious with a capital D. Thick bread stuffed with cheesecake and smothered with blueberry compost. My wife, who was born on this day, had an omelette which came with potatoes and toast. Now I love this woman but she can be fussy, and if you repeat that I'll come for you, but she liked it. We had coffee which is self serve. Interesting concept but it works out pretty good, and when you're finished eating you can take a to go cup with you. All told, I will be back for sure. Only concern is that it was pretty busy for a fall morning so I can imagine what it will be like in the summer. I'll let you know. Just remember our talk about my fussy wife. Stopped by for a late lunch on our way back from Greenport. Love Lane is located on a quaint street lined with small shops. Our wait wasn't long, and we were seated inside at at their shared table. Goat cheese panini - solid sandwich, with classic combination of flavors. Steak sandwich - I promise, you want to get this. I had a bite (or 3) from my husband's and I wish I had ordered it. Me personally, I could eat breakfast for my three meals every day and be a happy pappy. The inside was nice and bright, with clean and simple design. It had one long wooden communal table in the middle, with more table seating on both sides. I liked the contract of the wood furniture against white floor and walls. It made the space looked bigger, and yet more cozy and homey.They have self-service coffee section by the bar counter, which was interesting. This place offers breakfast menu until 2pm, so you can get both lunch and/or breakfast around the lunch time. I like breakfast any time of the day, so this was great! I ordered Pastrami Hash & Eggs which I heard was pretty good, but it didn't have much flavor, so I was disappointed... On the other hand, the Cod Sandwich was real surprise, in both size and flavor. It was super delicious! The service was friendly and food was great, other than the hash. If we go back to Long Island in the future, I would visit here again and try something else. Honestly I think LLK made my 70 mile drive worthwhile. I had this place bookmarked for the longest time and finally decided to make the trip. We had to wait a bit before getting seated but everything, from the service to food, was excellent. We were warmly greeted by our waiter who took our order mentally and didn't miss a thing! She brought the food out in a timely manner and everything lived up to what our taste buds expected. I had the fish tacos (great choice) and herbed fries (nicely herbed and flavorful but sadly drenched in oil). My friend had the lobster quesadilla with sweet potato fries (just as good and not soaked in oil). We also shared the seasonal pancakes (apple cinnamon with walnuts) which was delightful and fluffy. We went in today for lunch probably around a little after 1, the wait was about 20 minutes since it was very busy. They will text you when your table is ready, which is nice because you can either sit outside and wait or wander on Love lane and check out the shops. The Love Lane Kitchen is decorated shabby chic, it's very cute. The space is pretty small and it can get very loud inside, that's the only negative aspect of the LL kitchen. So if possible try to sit outside if it's busy inside. On this visit, I took my grandparents to lunch. We had the Cuban with plantains, chicken salad sandwich and a roasted veggie sandwhich.
