Dined here recently and was not impressed by the amount of time it took to get our drinks, took to get our food or the quality of the BBQ brisket I had. We waited an hour to get our food once ordered. Yes they were busy, however, my brisket had very dry almost crunchy peices of meat on the plate. Just not something I would expect for a place that smokes all their own meat on-site. Easily took 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Love the vibe and esthetics though and wait staff was polite and knowledgable. Maybe it was an off night. read more

I don't normally come to the area but since I was here doing other things I decided to check out the vegan options on the area. I was happy to see that Love craft had a vegan menu which I really appreciated. I decided to try 2 things of the menu. Impossible burger with hatch green chile, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, spicy aioli & fries. The burger was nice & juicy but way too many fries I ate maybe half. Plant based chimmi with spicy hatch green chile jackfruit, cheese, guacamole, & frijoles. I was hoping it would have been spicier but I just added some peppa sauce. To think my friend and I stumbled across this GEM because of the chandelier is an understatement! The atmosphere was calm and welcoming! We went around 2pm on Sunday, we ate rooftop and enjoyed both the Nachos and fries! The only issue was a piece of hair that was within the nachos, which was handled decently, however the remake of the nachos were different than the original. Obviously, a busy place with a lot of return customers. Lots... There's open-air dining topside and a swanky, more-or-less dark lower floor. Puppy friendly, we chose the upper deck. Traffic noise occasionally made conversation a challenge, but it wasn't bad. The menu is filled with culinary treasures for those that take good food seriously: excellent happy hour selections on food and adult beverages. Their nachos are truly unique and well worth sampling. The menu selection had something for everyone, and it was difficult to make a choice -- so we'll have to return (soon) to try out some of the other Southwestern/Mexican dishes. Don't look at their dessert menu.too many willpower challenges, making this a struggle. Fortunately, better judgment and recent efforts to trim down won out and we had to leave without indulging ourselves and our sweet-tooth. This was our first visit to Lovecraft, and I was so impressed! The atmosphere is super chill but still feels special -- the kind of place you instantly feel comfortable in. The staff and management were awesome -- super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was next-level! We tried the bacon-wrapped jalapeños (a must!), Maaaaa's Meatloaf (so flavorful and comforting), and finished with their cheesecake, which was the perfect ending. Everything was fresh, delicious, and perfectly cooked. You can tell the whole team here really cares about what they do. This was my first time going there. I had to sit at the bar, as the place was packed. A good sign, I THOUGHT. The friendly professional Staff seated me and took my order right away. So far so good. As they were out of the prime rib steak, (...oh well) I just got the Brisket Enchiladas. Here's where I went sideways. It took WELL over half an hour to get my food and I just have to ask you the Reader, HOW DO YOU SCREW UP ENCHILADAS? Well, here's how. Everything on the plate, the beans, rice, as well as the enchiladas, weren't cold-cold but were BARELY above room temperature. The only thing hot was the brisket meat INSIDE the enchiladas. Serving size seems small for the price as well. I told my waiter, when he asked how the food was. He told me "Sorry that happened" and although he seemed genuine in his concern, he moved right on and still didn't offer to fix it AND charged me full price. Sad first impression for certain. I was hungry so I ate about a quarter of it and boxed the rest to heat up at home. I thought it will probably will taste pretty good hot.....after I actually HEAT IT UP tomorrow....and IT WAS. (I'll attach a couple of photo of what I brought home.) So in a nutshell, I spent over $42 for a sad, cold, small plate of two Enchiladas, as well as a couple tablespoons of beans and rice AND ONE (1) VERY GOOD 16 oz glass of beer. We had dinner here last night. We added our name to the virtual waitlist. And everything was smooth, the service is great, the servers were attentive and not overbearing. The food took a bit long to get to use but the management comped us a drink for the wait time. The FOOD.... Amazing. The prime rib was HUGE and delicious. The tacos were very good, the rice was a bit dry but with the beans it was very good. We also had the guacamole which was also good. It was a bit hard for me to find something on the menu since almost everything they have is spicy and I just don't do spicy. The place is very charming, and a nice vibe inside. Its great how many places are now accommodating for vegan and plant based diets. I sort of expected a brewery before I visited the first time, but was surprised when I found a swanky cocktail bar when I walked in. It's really their own fault for putting the word *craft in their name :-D I've been to lots of places offering a plant based menu and lovecraft makes a tasty Jackfruit. We had ordered a jackfruit burrito and a mushroom chimichanga. I'm not naturally a mushroom fan, so don't take my lack of enthusiasm as a bad dish, just a personal dislike for mushrooms in general, but I did taste it and it wasn't, horrible. Burrito was decent Beans were decent enough Blueberry mojito was super tasty. Over all a good offering of vegan options at a non-plant based restaurant. Definitely a place I'll suggest if I've got both meat and non meat eaters! read more

There were exactly 10 people in the restaurant on this Sunday afternoon. The waitresses were very polite and only semi-attentive. You can smell the depth of smoke from 10' away. Delicious.... The decor says it's a date night spot, except for the TVs everywhere and a massive, glowing beer fridge. Food is a mix of steak house, BBQ, and New Mexican (extra points for the plant-based offerings). It'd be awesome if they leaned into the bottle shop/New Mexican vibe, turned up the lights, and lost the crystals and velvet! My husband loved his carne adovada. My BBQ plate was fine, except for the incredibly tart vinegar slaw (like sipping on straight white vinegar). At least the fries were tasty? My first time at Lovecraft, I had heard lots of good things about this restaurant and being a regular at 32 Shea I was anxious to go there. Went on a Saturday night at 6:00 pm, it was busy and the regular parking lot was full so I parked in the last parking space in the fenced in lot behind. Being a party of 2 we were immediately seated which was nice. I ordered the Peach Mimosa, it had Prosecco was very fragrantly peach scented and the flair was sweet and delicious with the requisite bubbles. I would definitely order this cocktail again. We ordered the Mushroom tacos and Meatloaf. They were both good. My only criticism is that our entrees took very long to arrive. Our waitress apologized several times and I overheard the table of 4 who were already on their second round of cocktails complain that their entrees hadn't arrived when our did. The restaurant was full, and even the barstools but given the time 6:15 or so I feel that they should have been able to get entrees out in a more timely fashion. Typically I am a little cold in most restaurants but Lovelcraft was entirely too warm. The ceiling fans were in but I noticed other patrons had all taken their coats off. It was strange because a lot of restaurants lately are turning their thermostats down as a cost savings due to the economy, but I feel that either there isn't enough adequate ventilation or the thermostat was set too high The ambience is dark and cozy and the mood is relaxed, certainly nothing ostentatious and the locals seem loyal. I would love to go back when it's warmer weather to be seated on the rooftop patio and experience that vibe. read more

Fantastic food and amazing service! The Prime rib French dip was so delicious and the house salsa was delicious enough to purchase some to take home. Out waiter patiently set up an are for our three dogs (allowed on top terrace) and constantly brought them water. Everything we saw delivered to other tables also looked good! The queso fries, I just did not enjoy, as they are so goopy. The bacon-wrapped cream cheese-filled jalapeno appetizer was probably the best thing we got, but it was outrageously salty. I really appreciated the staff being so kind and accommodating to a mom with a service dog & baby stroller. Even though my dogs clearly working in uniform and it's technically illegal to ask me what service he provides or if I could sit outside it happens all the time. The goat cheese, lavender cheesecake with rosemary crystallized, honey on top is one of my new favorite desserts to date! Ambience was so cute! The patio is pet-friendly. They don't bring water or have custom food for pets, but they allow dogs on the upstairs patio. The patio is right on Cactus, so it's quite loud. It's cute and comfortable though. My small dog was very happy on the cushioned chair. read more

I was very excited to try this place because of the reviews and pictures of the food. The ambiance was really cool and different inside and the service was good. I would say that if you don't like spicy food, this place probably isn't for you because there's very little non-spicy dishes. And if the dish has a pepper next to it, they can't guarantee how spicy it will be. For me, that's fine, but not for my boyfriend, so he was limited. I got the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. The chicken was so tender and flavorful, and the sauce was definitely home mad and spicy. My boyfriend got the bbq plate with pork and it was ok. Playing was a bit off, kind of giving a kids meal plate sort of vibe. The pork was good but a little dry. The slaw was strong with the vinegar and the fries were cold. Proccessed Meat during the Week. Let me start off by saying i haven't left a bad review for any company ever. This review is a difficult one to post but people definitely needed to be aware before dining on certain days especially those with sensitive dietary restrictions. After 3 great weekend dining experiences, my partner and I decided to pop in on a week day. We both noticed they switch the shredded chicken out to a processed canned chicken. It's hard not to notice when the weekend menu easily hits perfect 5 stars on quailty, however the ol' switch a roo comes off as deceiving when the price remains the same. Small cool gastropub. Food is actually what brought us here, heard and saw good things about it, decided to check it out. I think, like everyone, they are going through staffing issues, so for a big party of 8, we were a tough group. We had to wait to get seated, to get our food, and I could tell they were doing the best with what they had. I didn't mind, and it didn't tarnish my view of the place. It's a cool vibe, dark, retro, and AC blasting! Great hangout for a smaller party. New Mexican style hatch chili-Texas BBQ cuisine w/vegan options. We had the burrito w/red sauce and the green chili stew. Flavors were on point, but the stew was just meat. Guess I expected it to be more of a stew (w/veggies or something) rather than a bowl of stewed meat. The fried egg on top was just a bit overdone. The yolk was hard! Shucks, no oozing yellow goodness on top of my stew to finish it! Friends had a smoked prime rib, meat was great, but the mashed potatoes had a huge chunk of potato in it. The asparagus was tough and stringy. For a $50 plate you should expect a little more. I can see how some people really loved this place, and the potential to be awesome is there. That's my only reason I gave it 4 stars. I'll be back for a date night or something. I hope the finish on the plates next time are executed to their fullest potential. read more

Saturday night I checked the online Waitlist around 8:30pm and no wait, so I drove to Lovecraft and got there just before 9pm. They close at 10pm according to Yelp. Walked in the door, saw the sign "please wait to be seated", and so I waited...for exactly 5 minutes. No one approached me, no host that I could tell, and so I turned around and walked out. The place was busy and servers were hopping, but someone needs to pay attention to the entrance. The wall placed just inside the entrance door, with the please wait to be seated sign, might be a deterrent to staff monitoring the entrance. Menu looked enticing. read more
