I am only giving three stars based fully on sevice and pricing. This place is WAY OVER PRICED and it is probably all due to the location. It has a great water view! But you wont get to see it if you have kids with you because they can not allow you to sit on that side of the restaurant. They cramed 6 of us at a super small table, we only saw our waiter twice ( to take the order and drop off check) and they added 20% gratuity on to our check. They didn't try to split the check among the three different couples that were there and I think this was to get a bigger tip. On top of that the waiter didn't deserve it for the lack of service, the horrible seating, and the fact that the menu says 18% gratuity as well. The food is great though. read more

This is my first time ever in Seattle. I was walking through Pikes Place Market when I heard some man tell his friends that Lowell's Restaurant was delicious! Nothing like word of mouth recommendations! I came in by myself and the staff was really nice. I got the Grilled Vegetable Panzanella Salad cuz I'm trying to be healthy and it was SO YUMMY & SO DELICIOUS. Being healthy has never tasted so good. It was perfect. Also, my waiter Charlie was super duper nice and even moved me to the window to get a nice view of the water once a table cleared up. I would love to come back! read more

I have been coming to the restaurant over the years. I recently moved here full time and brought my girlfriend to share in the experience. Unfortunantly our waiter was just impatient and difficult to order with. When he told us we had too many changes to a sandwich, it kind of killed the vibe. Food was really good. Ordered the grilled seafood combo and clam chowder. Have a good selection of drinks that are good. Not enough alcohol but tasty. Now for the down sides to me. The place is a little to closed in for me. The bar area and waiting area such as it is very cramped. Prices are high too. A small drink is $10 and food prices are high for what you get. I guess it is what it is. Your in the Pike Market and with the teeming throngs of people that have to eat. I guess all the eating establishments have you by the huevos and you will pay a premium to eat. read more

Lowell's was a regular dining spot for us. The food is good and atmosphere is excellent as well. Our daughter was getting engaged later that afternoon and six of our family went to Lowell's for lunch. The only open tables were upstairs and while a couple of us put our orders the others went upstairs and sat down. They were confronted by a waiter and told to leave. As they were explaining our situation, the rest of the group arrived after ordering, but we were still told to leave. Race may or may not have been a factor - the waiter was white and several in our group were Black. Rather than argue further we left and will never return. read more

We're relatively new to the area, but we heard good things about Lowell's, so we tried it out. THE GOOD: Amazing views, friendly staff, qualified bartenders who make a solid Bloody Mary. THE NOT-SO GOOD: The layout is really strange. Get your own drinks and the machine is running at 50%, the coleslaw was gross (and they give you a lot!) and overpowered with onion, prawns we're OK (same level of quality as frozen), fish n chips are the same. Coming in the door, the staff was very curt, making us feel quite unwelcome. It is complicated to order and there are restrictions on where to sit that are not clear. If you sit in the wrong place, you get yelled at. Given this is in a tourist spot, they could provide more direction. Despite this, we persisted. I would have preferred to go elsewhere but my husband wanted to stay. Once we figured out the archaic system of ordering and where to sit, the food was very good. read more

The food was great. I had shrimp tacos and loved them. The shrimp were great and were grilled to show off how delicious they were. They had halibut and chips on special which was so fresh and light tasting when compared to their classic fish and chips (with cod). There was also a grilled halibut on special but we didn't get a chance to order that this time. I just wanted to point out that they have more options than just fried fish. The dishes were well cooked and really good. Not a fancy restaurant but they hold their own. The seating was a little confusing at first but there are signs and staff was super helpful. Sit on the second floor if you want to be waited on. For the first and 3rd floors you order at the counter on the first floor. Then find your own seat and they will bring your food out. The view while you eat is beautiful, however keep in mind all the spots at pike place are pretty small. Lots of seats look over the water with a great view. The others look over the market and are great for watching people and taking in the atmosphere. read more

After walking around Seattle for hours, hunger struck. Somehow Lowell's in Pike's Place Market got above average reviews . . . How?! Sure, the location and view are fantastic, but the overpriced food is subpar. The calamari strips are clearly smashed up squid, placed in breading, frozen, and then reheated. As for the fish tacos, disgusting. In fact, Long John Silvers is more appetizing than this place. Never again. Wish I was bulimic so I could throw up this meal and get my money back. read more

We took in the view on the 3rd floor, watching the ferries and Elliott Bay. There was quite a wait as it was brunch time on a Saturday. I ordered the Dungeoness crab omelette, and my husband had the Combo. The coffee was decent and was limitless. The cashier was very patient and provided excellent service. I went to Lowell's in Pike Place with friends after the usual lunch rush, but still expected to wait a while to be seated. We waited about 25 minutes and were given the choice for a non-view booth or to wait longer. We decided to be seated as we had plans later. After we were seated, the service was some of the worst service I have had in any restaurant. We waited 10 minutes for our drinks, soda, water and a bottled hard cider, nothing fancy. We then had to wait again to order. After we ordered, it took 25 minutes for our meals to be delivered. Again, nothing fancy or special ordered. The food was mediocre at best. We then had to wait a full 20 minutes after we finished our meals to receive our bill. We had to get up from our table to hunt down our server. We expected the usual wait for a table, but did not expect the extraordinarily long wait for our food and bill. I will likely not return and would not recommend Lowells to anyone who doesn't have a couple of hours to wait for their meal. read more

My wife and I celebrated my birthday here recently and what a wonderful experience it was. The food was excellent, some of the best clam chowder I`ve ever had and the Bloody Marys are out of this world. Been here often when up visiting family in Seattle area. Love the view and the vibe. Standing in line watching the market crowds steam by then the cooks hard at work through the open kitchen just before you order makes the time go by quickly. Excellent service great food! Honestly, based on the menu I would normally have said "PASS," however my rather-eat-there choices were either still closed or vetoed by my picky travel companion. I was hungryyyy and this was the next best option. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing (I was torn between the hash and the ricotta pancakes), but this was a just OK breakfast spot with a premium view. I got the hash and a bloody mary. The hash was average, but served with really good, crunchy, seasoned hash browns so extra points there. The bloody mary, however, was disappointing. No peppery bite and pretty watered down/weak (?) for the price. I wish I chose a mimosa instead lol. I hate to give it a 3 because all the staff was so pleasant, however I'm not quite enough of a fan to give it a 4. It was a good experience in a great location, but will ultimately go somewhere else. read more

They are magicians - they lure you into believing that it's not a tourist trap- DON'T BE FOOLED! It's a turn and burn tourist trap! Food comes out fast and marginal- not bad enough to send back, not good enough to take away the bad feeling you get when you didn't listen to your inner voice telling you the place is not good. In the window they have Best Of framed magazine covers including 1 that says one of America's top 100 restaurants. You get better seafood in Amarillo than Lowell's. read more

This place doesn't even deserve the one star I gave it. I got the breakfast quesadilla. Don't do it. The sausage had bits of bone in it. I almost broke my teeth. It's also an awful place for families. The manager clearly does not have a family nor does he know what that's like. He hunted me down after we left to yell at me. I think the experience at Lowell's can vary significantly depending on whether you go for breakfast/brunch versus lunch or dinner, if you're going at peak tourist summer season versus other times of the year, and whether you're able to grab a window seat. I imagine it's chaos during the summer! The hubby and I have been here during the fall/winter without the overwhelming crowds and really liked their food--it's not cheap for a casual place, but the seafood quality is there. The fish and chips, blackened grilled salmon, dungeness crab cakes, tiger prawns, and cole slaw are all worth their weight in dollars. The seafood is fresh, and being in the market helps with the quality of their ingredients. I will concede, however, that their clam chowder is good but not a slam dunk. We've never been here for breakfast, so can't comment on that menu. First and third floors are self-serve seating, the second floor is traditional dine-in service. We like self service, so never have been to the restaurant section. Employees here are friendly, although we've also never tried snagging a table before ordering. I hear they're veddy, veddy strict on that. read more

The platter included 2 fried cod, 3 large fried shrimp, 6 pieces of calamari, coleslaw and fries with old bay seasoning! The seafood was cooked perfectly and was plenty of food for two people. Overall, just OK. Good: Location right in the middle of Pike Place market is great. Three floors of tables, most of which have a view is really nice. The Clam chowder was quite good, really thick, with big chunks of potato and chopped up clams. Not good: The tiger prawn tacos and were disappointing, with what seems like lower quality prawns that had been over held and were tough and fairly tasteless. I paid $17 for a Dungeness crab cocktail and was really looking forward to it. When it arrived at the table, it was all machine-picked body meat rather than the higher-quality stuff I expect in a cocktail and when paying that price. Overall, it's touristy and overpriced. Not a real fish-lover's place. Maybe I was expecting too much of it, misdirected by its location right in the middle of a market that sells tons of high-quality seafood. read more

4.5 stars Charming 3 store restaurant right in the heart of the Pike Place Market. The first floor is where you can order your food, get a number and then go up to the 3rd floor for first come first serve setting. I personally didn't like this aspect too much cause a couple tried to take our table and my friend had been waiting for a table of 4 for about 20 mins. Not cool. But it's not the restaurants fault. The second floor is assigned seating with a full service bar. Their cocktails are delish and the bartender today was really nice. I only got the Manila clams dish with a glass of Pino Grigio while my co workers got chicken tenders, fried shrimp with fries and for drinks, a ruby sunset and the grapefruit mocktail. The calms dish was absolutely amazing. Garlicky with the right amount of spice from the red pepper flakes. On top of this, amazing view of the water. Definitely recommend you stopping by while wandering through Pike Market Place. read more
