My husband and I decided to go through Lowes to have a deck built at our home. They required payment in full up front, before the job was even started. The deck was suppose to be completed by the end on May but they hadn't event started. Of course, no one called to inform us of delays- we had to chase them down. Once the installation began they completed the work within about two weeks. Upon inspection of the completed job, we found tons of problems due to sloppy work. As a result, we demanded that the handrail be replaced. After tons of back and forth, the third party contractor brought additional wood and replaced the handrail. All looked for the next two days until the handrail started separating- each one at least a half inch. We called the company to inform them of this and they advised that Lowes ordered the wrong type of wood and that the correct wood would be order and the handrails would be replaced. We found out next that the deck failed inspection. The contractors then advised that once the replacement wood arrived they would be back out to replace and make corrections to so that the inspection would pass. They requested that we leave the permit for them. Fast forward three months and still the work has not been repaired, the deck has not passed inspection, the permit is nowhere to be found and no one has any answers. The project manager assigned, Rachel Walker, will not return any of my calls and the sales person Aaron said that all he does is sell the installation services and that he could not help me. Calling the corporate installations office does not help because again, no one calls you back. I would not recommend Lowes Decking Installation or the sub contractor Decking and Things for any job to even my worst enemy. The only thing that they have been good for is cashing my check! The determining factor for us selecting Lowes was not the price but the timeframe that they said they could complete the job. As job that was suppose to be completed in 45 days has turned into five months. LOWES IS THE WORST AND HAD THE ABSOLUTE POOREST CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!!! read more

Needs a management makeover. Price and selection compared well with the nearby Home Depot, but it took 35 mins and 2 calls to the manager to get some mulch bags moved off of a high rack so I could buy them. Ditto for the compost bags. Lots of employees in red vests milling about trying to look busy, but not helping anyone. Very skilled at avoiding eye contact. Management bears the blame . read more

They seem to go out of their way to hire the most surly people they can find in Bowie. I bought a $240 kitchen faucet and after a long wait in checkout - no hello, no thanks, nothing - just a glare. Next time I'll use the nearby Home Depot self checkout or if time allows - Amazon. It's time for places like this to just close. read more

Horrible cashier customer service. Practically ignored us at checkout and three workers stood there talking bad about their job, Co workers or the organizing itself. The staff on the floor however were very friendly and helpful. read more

We worked with Catherine in the kitchen cabinetry department. She was the utmost professional and very skilled at her job. Patient, diligent and detailed, she is a was a pleasure to work with as we designed and purchased cabinetry for two kitchens. Although often understaffed, she would multitask and yet stay focused. We are very pleased and also was able to get 18 months interest free financing. read more

Went to Lowe's of Bowie in the 1st week of December and spent 5100.00 on blinds for my home. I seen a sign that promised they would be installed before Christmas or 10% off the order. So needless to say the manager Jim tracked my order down the second week of January and had them installed right away. He told me to come in the store and they would refund 10% of my order. I went in today January 22 2013 and the cashier needed the managers assistance so Donald Terry came over. He stated how generous his manager was . This is mind blowing that Donald doesn't know first and foremost the advertising in his store and secondly you should down play the situation about the inconvenience the consumer has experienced due to no fault of there own just shopping at a store . He told me he wasn't doing the refund I would have to wait ! Don't shop there he doesn't care and its evident ! read more

Right now we are standing in Lowes trying to get help to have one question answered was a nightmare. Waited 15-20 minutes for assistance that NEVER came. Went to the customer service desk (where they acted like they had better things to do than to assist a customer) to get assistance and speak to the manager and the rep told us after waiting there that the manager was not available. I ordered some framing materials on line from Lowes in Bowie Maryland. The day before I am suppose to get the material after waiting two weeks they call and tell me it can not be delivered until the day after the delivery date. I had a delivery scheduled for Saturday morning. I was told I would receive a call Friday to confirm and give me a better ETA after they see how many commercial account deliveries they have. No phone call Friday. Called Saturday morning and was told between 1 and 3. I asked to speak with the delivery manager, he was unavailable and would have to call me back. I never received a call back. Called again 4 hours later and was bounced around on hold for 30 minutes. Finally I spoke with the delivery manager and he started to yell at me. I asked to speak with the store manager and was given the assistant manager who wasn't any better. I literally spend over $5,000 in this store every year. Don't pay for delivery, pick it up yourself. Not on time, rude to their customers on the phone and a day wasted. I am truly surprised they have 2.5 stars. I would give them less than 1 if I could. Every time I order from this store it is a complete fiasco. I don't appreciate being yelled at either. Home Depot is literally right across the street from them. It may be time to open a Home Depot account and close the Lowe's. Lowe's Bowie customer service is nonexistent. read more

You know how ants react when you kick an anthill ? Pandemonium, chaos & frantic futility. Thats what shopping at this particular Lowe's is like ! We were there to buy a lawn tractor, We came on Friday night I knew exactly what tractor I wanted, I was doing a cash transaction, The tractor was in stock and I was going to pick it up on Saturday myself, no delivery required. Pretty cut & dry right ! Lets start with the purchase, I asked about the warranty, the (not so knowledgeable) sales person pulled the sticker with the serial number on it off the floor display tractor ! I asked if that was the tractor I was getting he said no, yours is in the back. Why are you putting that sticker on the warranty card, I asked. His reply "Thats how we always do it." But ......................... Nevermind I follow up with John Deere. Ok all is good we pick it up tomorrow ! He says yes just give your phone number it will be waiting.Ahh Saturday afternoon , this is where the fun really begins ! Crazy me , thinking that the tractor would be pulled and ready to go. Nooooooooo ! We get to the Customer service desk,( the name is an oxymoron at this store) We are behind a young lady who was locked in a futile struggle trying to simply return a bottle of cleaner . The lady at the registar was very nice and ceaselessly apologetic to everyone in line, seems she had been put on this station with little or no experience or support. First she couldn't get the computer to find record of our sale. That was resolved, She finds it then cannot get the order to print, that gets resolved. She calls to the back, tells us it will be a couple of minutes. to this point we are at about 20 minutes. 10 more minutes nothing, the poor women previously in front of us is still trying to get her refund, now with a manager. Another manager ask if we need to make a payment, No we say but maybe you can help with this, and we explained that we are easing up on 45 minutes waiting for a pre paid tractor, she calls to the back talks to someone and suggest that maybe they are trying to find it. I suggested that maybe the process of trying to find it should have started yesterday, when I payed for it. This exchange was being watched by yet another manager, I figured what the hell I may as well ask about the warranty card issue. As I walk toward him he literally runs away , and becomes instantly "Very busy" tinkering with a closed register. OK I get that you don't want to deal with this. We are up to an hour, the apologetic cashier apologizes again and says very sincerely that shes done all she can do. The women with the single bottle of cleaner finally gets her refund. A new person is trying to explain to the manager why she didn't want the 300 lb gravel delivery in her front yard. Good luck lady, Good Luck. Now a guy comes from the back, Hes sorry, he says, " we are trying to see if we have your tractor in stock " ....... WHAT !!!!!! I ask him, Are you telling me that you may not have the tractor now ? He says Uh I think we have one. Bear in mind I have arranged for this thing to be taken to my home by someone who has been sitting for over an hour in the parking lot. 1 hour 30 minutes, a vision of hope, two guys push the tractor up to the front. Explaining it had never been pulled and they had to find it etc. I was just glad that this transaction was nearing the end. So the warranty card ? Finally these two guys understand what I'm saying and rectify this by having me fill out another card. So all told 2 days aprox 2 1/2 hours to complete 1 trans action. And from all we witnessed during this debacle, its just another day at Lowe's of Bowie ! read more

I placed an online order for two bathroom vanities. Per the stores website they only had the two I wanted available in that store. Great, I bought them! Two days later I still haven't received a call from their delivery department so I call the customer service number. I'm told that I should receive a call that evening to confirm delivery for the following day. Never received a call. I call customer service back the following day and was first told my order is still being processed and that I should receive a call later that day but then someone from the store who was also on the line told me the store only had one available and my order just sat for four days!! She wasn't sure who was responsible for this. I was told AGAIN that my order will be assigned to someone and I was told AGAIN that I would receive a follow up phone call that evening and YET AGAIN I never did. Meanwhile I took off work and I had our contractor come over. Fast forward to the following morning...I call customer service and was told NOTHING was done with my order at this store and that it will take 3 weeks to order from their warehouse. I asked if another store had the vanities and ended up canceling my order through this store and placing it with another. Of course I have to wait a week to be refunded the money and now I have to take more time off work to wait for said delivery. I'm in the process of renovating my entire house...I had such a smooth delivery with HomeDepot on prior purchases. This may be the last time I deal with Lowes delivery. read more
