I went into the Bowie location of Lowes for measurement of flooring job I need done. The one service tech had technical issues with the system but said my appointment was confirmed and he will call to confirm. I did not receive a call so I went aback to the store to confirm. A different tech wad there but unfamiliar with the process. Kudos to him and an off work employee who walked him through the process. It took an hour before it was completed. Though the appointment t was made I am concerned of how the process will go. The new appointment totally wiped out all I had selected. I called another co.pa y for a quote. read more

I was in the store twice over the last week, once to help my parents buy a new washer and dryer then two days later as the dryer was faulty. We first dealt with Sasha the Asst Manager, who was wonderful in getting us to the right person to facilitate an exchange. He brought us to Francis who was so extremely helpful in getting the pickup of the faulty machine and the delivery of the new one on the same day!! Rose then assisted us with all the paperwork. I left Home Depot because I literally couldn't get an ounce of assistance, plus the aisle I needed to check out was temporarily closed. The moment I walked into Lowe's, several staff members offered assistance. Not sure if it was the dazed and confused look I had on my face, or the exhausted way I walked up and down the aisles, but they could tell I needed help and they gave it to me. Ive been living in Bowie for roughly 22 years now, and Lowes has been a staple in my arsenal of go to, when my home was in need of most any repair or upgrade. While Ive used other stores in past years for Appliances and its gone well, I decided to use Lowes website to place an order recently for a wall oven. Nothing special, nothing custom. A basic GE, wall mount oven. I spaced it out using Lowes websites guides and PDF's associated with the Oven I needed, and also did some research at one of my older go to's and they were not as competitive and also had less options. SO Lowes got the order.. After seeing the total and the take away fees, I noted these things in the total and per the info on the online invoice I knew there would be an installer contacting me ( as this was typical in past with other vendors) 24hours went by and all I had was a confirm email of my order. Easy right? Lowes is roughly 1 mile from my house so I thought this would be one of my simpler of hime fix up tasks to take care of. So on the second day with no calls or emails, I called Lowes. It turns out, I have to go in and confirm the online order I placed, as well go in to confirm an installer which is a separate fee ( I understand this piece). What I don't understand is, why do this online if I have to go to the store anyway, not once but two times over a period of 2 weeks? The time spent in the store made me feel like, I should have just gone there and done it all there? ( Why bother with the simplicity and convenience of a website) This is why Amazon is eating these peoples and others business for lunch. One stop shopping, and you know where you stand up front. I had to come back a second time to be told that my install bill was going to be more than double. First quote 178.00 second quote 467.00?? I was given some comment about electrical that made no sense to me, and now that Im 2 weeks into this process backing out and starting over elsewhere seemed it would only be more problematic. So, to say I was frustrated with this, and oh by the way 2 weeks in I still have no idea when the oven arrives or when it will be installed ( the paying customers work on schedules too!!) I travel extensively so I have a small window of time to get this accomplished. So, going into the 3rd week and after having to contact the installer on my end and several back and forth due to Lowes delivery date changing only 2 days prior to confirmed first delivery day, I finally had a delivery date (this past Monday 6/8/20 - and an install date of 6/10/20. Not perfect but it will do. Through all of this, let me say the Installers whom came to do the estimate set up, and install were Fast/Professional/Clean, and as good as they come in this business. I highly recommend. Mega Plumbing services. Another person worth mentioning and who arguably saved this order from disaster was a young lady who works in Appliance section. Her name Siheesha, is one I won't forget. Her demeanor during my meltdown in the store over the process that seemed to never end as to what step I had to do next to get a simple oven install done was incredible. She is the key to Lowes success. As Im sure Im not alone in my negative feelings about Lowes poor online order experience and is the only real reason Im putting 3 stars on this rating. Your Team members are everything, and this person in addition to your contracted installers saved this from being one of the worst online ordering experiences ever. Lowes, you've been around for years!! This is what you do!!. Hardware, I get the contracting of installers, but don't make your customers have to go to your stores to do the leg work to get it all done!! Make it an all inclusive BUY!.. Im sure all easier said than done, but being in the customer service field myself for more than 35 years, I would lose a lot of clients if I handled them the way your website handled me. Lastly, your upfront Customer service folks in the store,,, this needs some serious Empathy work/training!!!. There goal is to move you along (that was my perception) They are not dialed in and a whole other piece not worth going into, as it would make this a 1 star review.. Fire Management, they got to go they are a cancer killing this location Terrible, this store has gone down hill since they got new management. The bathrooms are terrible the managers are rude. Have "let go" multiple individuals that actually make sure their customers come back. Ryan is a complete a$$ and is completely unresponsive to complaints acting as if the customer is wrong. Hell I told him today to take some pride in his store and he told me he did. I said then why is your bathroom have no paper towels nor any faucets that actually work like they are supposed to. I told him it takes you going in and looking calling the company for a third trip in per day to clean instead of two. Plus if you can't add a roll of paper towels then this place is doomed. A set screw is the only thing keeping a faucet from working like it should and you can't take pride in your store and do that as well. Hell you have a store of tools and access to YouTube. If not call a plumber on your own. Build a relationship with one of the thousands of contractors that come in each day and ask if they could spare a few moments. Hell I would it if he wasn' t such a D!€k. Problem is he seems to thin he is doing a fantastic job. No one in the store wants to work there and he uses that as an excuse instead of fixing his issues. Leadership starts at the top and there is zero at this store. There is no reason to have a manager telling a customer who spends thousands at his store that he is wrong and has no idea what he is talking about. I used to be in that store everyday. Now I drive 10 mins further and spend my money a the store down the road. It's in a different district and run much better. Don't go here unless you have to. 7/13/2018: Dropped in to get a key made, and stood at the key counter. No one was there. Within seconds, a disembodied voice came over the intercom alerting the attendant that I was waiting. I began searching for the camera ;) The associate, who came in a minute, sort of looked like a member of the band ZZ Top. But, he was quick, polite and efficient. The guy at checkout was awesome too- you don't get "bubbly" often around here, but he was, and it was genuine, not forced. So, Lowe's gets 5 stars for customer service, cuz they made me smile. This location is terrible! I called to ask a question and was disconnected after waiting on hold for over 20 minutes. After calling back, I was lied to regarding the installation of a product and then told I would receive a Voicemail with the details. I never received the Voicemail. I called back the next day 3 times and it just rang and rang until I gave up. My item was delivered, but not installed as they told me over the phone, then they did not haul the old item away like I paid extra for. I called back to fix the issue and was told they would get the appliance manager. I then spoke with 5 other people who each heard my story again and then put me back on hold. The call has gone on for over 25 minutes again and there is no resolution in sight. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE!!!! read more

Bought a 1200 dollar oven in the first week of July, oven was delivered 6 weeks later on August 22 and came damaged. Since then I've made repeated attempts to find out when the oven will be delivered and I can not get an answer. I was told in store by an associate in appliances they would call me back with a date. They've never called. Their corporate number has told me I need to call the store directly. The store won't answer requiring in person visit every time I ask for an update. I had an issue with a bathroom vanity that I purchased on line with the 2 doors smashed in. After making multiple calls and visiting 3 Lowes in the area none of them would even give me the time of day. They all said I had to return the vanity if I wanted new doors. I vanity at that time was already installed so that was not an option. Finally I went to Lowes in Bowie, Fred hooked me up with no questions asked. After spending miles and hours at other stores Fred went beyond and above to help me out. Within 30 min I had my replacement doors to complete my bathroom. Absolutely Pit! Order a refrigerator on line. Received email it would be delivered December 11. Then receive email I would receive a phone call about delivery. Still have email advising that delivery will occur December 11. Tried calling store to figure out when my refrigerator will be delivered. People at Lowes keeping picking up the phone and hanging up. I now have Lowes' delivery number memorized because I have called it so many times. Don't think I will purchase from Lowes again. It's really easy to develop an online system that lets the user enter purchase order number that then is linked to the delivery status. Very poor customer service Lowes. read more

I recently purchased windows from Lowe's in bowie md the craftsmanship was very poor. I called the store to complain about how bad the corking around the outside of the windows was done. I have yet to this day to have someone come back and redo my windows If some is smoking outside I can still smell it on the inside. I'm not please with the craftsmanship. Old windows parts were left on the lower part of my house. One the screens that was installed in the bathroom New window has a tear already. It's only been a month. By far the worst experience we have had at any Lowe's. When we first walked in there was a guy, who I guess was supposed to be selling air conditioners, but he was face down on his table sleeping. None of the employees knew where anything was at. One employee actually recommended Home Depot across the street, which was a half-hearted way to say "Please don't ask me any more questions. I don't care." At the register the cashier had his phone on the register and was scrolling through Instagram as he rang me up. He had to repeat himself several times, because he was having trouble doing his job and viewing Instagram. It's such a shame this Lowe's is so bad. I've always been impressed by Lowe's at other locations and the quality of their employees. Definitely not coming back here and I would warn anyone else to stay away from this Lowe's. read more

Save yourself the headache and buy your appliances elsewhere! Started writing this review while I was 2 hours in on a phone call trying to understand where my refrigerator was. It was in the store the day prior and scheduled for delivery in the morning. Terrible customer service (is an understatement), coupled with an extreme inability to manage their inventory. Update: No refrigerator delivery or phone call to notify us. After being hung-up on multiple times by associates at this location, and sitting on hold for hours to speak with a manager, we went into the store. They must be used to leaving people on hold for hours on end because they had a long song track that surprisingly did not repeat. While we stood waiting in the store for 20 minutes to speak with someone who could solve this problem, I could hear the phone buzzing while an associate stood over the phone, ignoring what I can only imagine were other customers like me sitting on hold. Once someone appeared to speak with us we heard deflection of responsibility and excuses. The refrigerator was in fact located in the store (in the same exact location where it was the day prior when we purchased it). This was no surprise to us but may have surprised some of the staff who had told us previously that the refrigerator wasn't in the store, could be in stock in a couple weeks, or could be in stock several months from now! How can inventory be mismanaged that profoundly? read more

Lowe's improperly installed new washer (paid $1600 for both w/d units) causing it to malfunction, damage the drip pan and washer itself. All of its managers named are boldfaced liars: rude Aldan, Jeff, Don, Jim, Eric, or even the new store manager, John. Only assistance is through ECS. UPDATE (7/27): ECS authorized replacement of the washer. They spoke directly with Jim on 7/20, and he was supposed to call, but never did. No surprise there. Today, they spoke with John who is supposed to get the issue resolved. NO confidence in him either. A month ago, on 6/27, he replied in an email "I would like to help." promised to call, but never did. Bad apples don't fall far from the tree that sets the stage for a culture of bad customer service. UPDATE: (7/28) Call from Phyllis on behalf of Eric to learn more about what's going on with the washer issue. Really? It has only been two months of phone calls and emails. Still waiting on that call from John. UPDATE (8/7) Washer replaced. Eric could have save the follow-up phone call with that rude repetitive "ma'am" address and unemphatic attitude toward the nightmarish customer service experience. Best solution in the world, click! So I am not big in to writing complaints. But I do when I see that the business have the opportunity to improve and also give other customers a chance to get a better experience. It was around 6:15pm when I was able to gather up 15 bags of big mulch bags and I also had my 3 year old son with me who was actually helping me to push the big cart. Yes I did miss the closing time of the garden doors as it was Memorial Day. But when I got to the cash register there were two other customers and the gentleman who was handling the line told me that I need to go in and check out inside. At this point I did ask him hey can you let me through since it was 15 of the same item and since I was struggling with pushing the big cart and had the kid and also parked right outside the garden doors. He still refused. I understand that it was past time and probably had to get the employees out at a certain time, but sometimes it is ok to bend the rules to support a customer or offer more help. (Let me get someone quick to help you to push the cart). Hope that make sense and will help to improve from both side. read more

I've been a customer of this store for 20+ years and have spent thousands there the past year alone, but no more!!! A simple dishwasher purchase & installation has turned into a total nightmare. Lowes sole installation contractor for dishwashers, the infamous Mega Plumbing, did a shoddy installation, refused to fix it, LIED about it to Lowes Installation Services Team (IST), and has caused us dozens of hours of pain on the phone trying to get it fixed, and then more hours of torment trying to return it according to Lowes byzantine 48-Hour Return Policy. Be aware that if you have Lowes' contractor install your appliance, you only have 48 hours to notify Lowes that you will return it. With a predatory installer like Mega Plumbing, you have to notify Lowes in writing immediately. Fortunately, we did that, but Lowes does not honor its own return policy. Between the Appliance Dept., store management, IST and Corporate Care, they will all avoid you and try to pass the buck to the others in their conniving circle of distrust. We purchased an $853 Whirlpool from Lowes weeks ago, and ordered their installation--Mega Plumbing ($180 or so). The hurried installers (a handyman, not license plumber/electrician, I presume) and his apprentice installed an obviously-too-short supply line and waste line (the latter spliced to a 10+year old waste line), when all they needed to do was install correct-lengths. In retrospect, I believe that Mega does this to create pretexts for more return ($$$) visits. That was just the beginning of a chain of problems... Moisture wrap hanging down from the front of the unit. The unit will not dry (did the kid forget to uncover a jumper or something???). Mega finally sent a "supervisor" who, as I listened, told the gullible IST that Mega had generously installed an 8-foot supply line and that the install was just fine. Bowie Lowes smiles and tells us that they will return the unit as their policy states, and at the same time notates the order to 'not reimburse the [faulty!] installation fee' and charge us for the removal!!! Update: yesterday, 10/9/20, we went back in to return more of the misdelivered things. Once again, we were sent back and forth between the Pro desk and customer service, waiting in lines each time. Neither of them could locate my order. Turns out, the original sales person (who is a manager) was actually in. We got to him by mistake, and asked him to help us get things straight. He was gratifiedly embarrassed and apologized profusely. He also went to the computer, typed in my phone number and Voila! The other two at the Pro desk just shrugged. This manager made things as right as he could. Refunding items that were not yet delivered (because they were sold!) and helping us with what was still on the shelves. We had to rent a U-haul to get the long materials home, load an unload ourselves. Service hasn't improved, but at least the person with whom we originally dealt was actually in the store and helped as best as he could. Still want my $75 delivery fee returned. read more

I was an employee of Lowe's in a location in Virginia about 5 years ago. I shop at different Lowes locations often and where I worked people were kind, helpful, and took initiative. However, at the Lowe's in Bowie, literally every "customer service" associate lacked any sort of service. I asked 3 different people questions and they looked at me like I was inconveniencing them, especially the lady up front who watches the other cashiers. She stood there with a scowl on her face and was extremely rude. I usually don't go to Home Depot, but in Bowie I'm happy to make an exception. read more

I walked in lowes as I pass the metal detector a door greeter spoke. It's great to have a Lowes and a Home Depot across the street from each other. If one doesn't have what you need, it's likely that the other will. The online ordering system is an absolute catastrophe, it'll take too long to dwell into full detail but there was utter confusion amongst the delivery which resulted in me taking two days off from work to receive a shipment that never arrived and when it finally arrived, it arrived almost 5 hours late, resulting in another waste of a day and the contractors not being able to start work again but entirely my fault because I shouldn't have told them the delivery was going to be from 11-3:15pm knowing the history. read more

We like this lowes. It has a lot of great prices and to echo Casey, yes our home depots here in Annapolis just don't always cut it. And for a while Lowes was giving us military discount while Home depot was not (but now they are). Lowes has better help and a greater selection. But it's occasional that we go there. read more

Worst floor customer service ever. I have been in the store on multiple occasions. It's not that I have a problem with them not having an item but it's the floor service. Most of them act like they hate their job. I would much rather go into Home Depot which is not as organized as Lowe's but they go out of their way to say hello and help even though they may not have the product. On two occasions I have went into the key and lock department and two different employees wouldn't even look up to help. I asked a direct question and there was no eye contact at all. For a big box home improvement store this is head and shoulders above the local Home Depot stores. I went here to purchase some storm doors and found the staff knowledgeable and friendly without being pushy. In fact, I came back a couple of times before I made my final decision to purchase and it was a great experience both times. Obviously, they have a ton of other home improvement type things. I just like Lowe's a ton better than Home Depot and it's just as convenient to get to, for me. read more
