Looking for two 4x8 sheets of plywood for shelves I'm building, I started at the orange & white logo competitor. It's closer to my home. But when I got there, only a few of the items had price tags, and I wasn't sure if the tags were for the product above, or the product below. There also wasn't anyone around for me to ask. So I left and drove the extra 10 minutes to Lowe's in Lincolnwood. There, each different type of plywood was clearly marked & priced, an employee came up and helped me put two sheets of it on my cart, and he even cut them in half for me! He then walked up to the cashier, explained what I was buying, and that it was only two - even though I now had four pieces (two cut in half) which was confusing the cashier last time I bought cut lumber at the orange & white logo place. I am extremely disappointed with my experience using Lowe's Extended Protection Plan. My refrigerator, which I purchased from Lowe's less than five years ago along with an extended warranty, stopped working on Monday, June 29. On Tuesday, June 30, I spent hours making more than five calls to Lowe's Customer Service just trying to schedule a repair. The claims process was anything but customer-focused. After finally reaching a representative, I was assured that Unique Repair Service would be at my home on Thursday, July 2. Although I knew I would lose all of the food in my refrigerator and freezer during one of Illinois' hottest weeks of the year, I accepted that appointment because it was the earliest available. The next day, Unique Repair Service called to tell me they could not come until Tuesday, July 7. I explained that Lowe's had confirmed a July 2 appointment and that delaying service another five days was unacceptable, especially considering all of my food would be spoiled. They refused to honor the original appointment. At that point, I canceled the service request and hired my own repair technician, who came to my home on Thursday evening, and I paid out of pocket to repair a refrigerator that is less than five years old. I documented all of my spoiled food with photographs and have submitted a food loss claim. I am asking Lowe's to honor its warranty and reimburse me for my documented food loss. This experience has completely changed my opinion of Lowe's appliance service. I've since spoken with several people who recommended purchasing major appliances from Abt Electronics because, while their prices may sometimes be higher, their customer service is consistently outstanding. Two guys were working with a customer, and when I asked for help, they told me someone would come to help me. However, I waited for a long time. The worst customer service I've received in a long time we got a dryer and bought all the parts and everything to have it hooked up and then they came here and gave us some story they couldn't hook it up. It's a Lowes, so it's pretty typical. But, I wanted to update my review based on a recent experience in the lumber section. I was looking for some 1x3s (10 foot) for a project, and they were not in the aisle/bin that it said they would be in on the website. I looked everywhere and didn't see any. The website said they had 117 pieces of this particular kind in stock, so they had to be there somewhere. I asked a guy in the section where they were, and showed him the webpage. He took my phone, said he knew where they were, and led me to a different aisle. He said that "yep, these are the ones you're looking for" and gave me my phone back. He cut them for me and then I checked out. Well, it turns out the ones he showed me were twice the price of the ones I was looking at on the website because they were a different type of wood. I asked the person at the checkout, but they couldn't do any price adjustment or anything because what I was buying wasn't the one on the webpage that I was looking for, and because they were custom cut I was pretty much SOL. She pulled up the website for the ones I actually had in my cart, which the store also carries. So, they guy basically upsold me. Either he doesn't know where things are in the store and it was an error on his part, or he intentionally did so. So, if you're purchasing something like lumber, make sure you are confirming the UPC code and the price before you have anything cut. It wasn't that big of a deal because I only bought 2 of them, so it was a difference of about 5 bucks. But, if I had been doing a significant project and buying lots of pieces (like the guy ahead of me in line who had 10 2x4s cut), that price difference would've added up very quickly. I also went back this morning to look for something else I needed for my project, and it wasn't anywhere near where the website said it would be (3 aisles over -- the website put me in a totally different department). I'm not sure if that's the store's issue or the web team's issue, but it's frustrating. I eventually found what I was looking for, so it's fine, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a store aisle locator on a website/app if it's extremely wrong. read more

I used Lowe's kitchen design service. Never again will I set foot in there. More than once the wrong thing was delivered, or mis-measured. There were never actual blueprints although I asked for them many times. There was no sense of when something would be delivered or come UPS and surprise me. Terrible customer service. They farm out delivery to private companies, usually one or two men with a crusty old truck. They were kind, mostly, but only once did I have to sign for anything or get a receipt. So much unpleasantness. Admittedly, I should have been more on top of things, but I've never done this kind of remodel. Lesson learned. DON'T USE LOWES LINCOLNWOOD DESIGN SERVICES. read more

I am looking to start my own business and I was trying to buy one of the nicest products they had in store, after accessories included, it would have been an $1100+ purchase. My wife and I purchased a grill from this location 3 years ago and were treated so poorly then, too, that we haven't been back to this company and have taken their business to two of their competitors. I had to ask for help 3+x, only to be ignored. The three sales guys that "helped" us were condescending, curt, interrupted me, tried to sell me something inferior and said "it's good enough". I set up an online appointment, for 2:30 to get an estimate on a window. I waited for an hour nobody showed up, I called and was given the run around, no call this number...after 6 phone calls, 2 to the same place I was told again to call the Kenosha store. They gave the contractors' number, so I called and left him a message. He got back to 2.5 hours later, and asked for a picture of window because he didn't have time to do the quote. I sent him the picture. He quoted me $1135.00, mind you the window is only $138.00, almost $1,000 in labor I think not. I only ever write reviews when I receive great service or poor service, this experience from beginning to end was horrible and the price through the roof. Excellent customer service. I came here for a specific dining room fixture I wanted from their website. It's a Saturday and everyone was very busy. I found my fixture (last two boxes in store). It had fantastic online reviews!! As I was looking around to find an associate with the large box in hand, a store associate found me! Do I need help? would I like to put my fixture into a cart? He cleared out the cart for me, and called over a designated lighting person to help me. In few moments, someone found me in the lightning isle and we started the installation interview; how tall was my ceiling etc etc.? They then walked me over to the lightbulbs section and showed me the lightbulb choices for my fixture; after which they walked me to the checkout station and wished me a great weekend!!!!!! After many challenges with this Lowes I found that Mike the manager was the most helpful person. And bonus with Alan in Millwork was helpful as well as he learned another departments skills to fulfill our final screen order. Millwork is the one department that is down 2 employees, so FYI. Never mind they are actually hiring but everyone I encounter is super helpful and patient. It's not as chaotic as other stores and they finally got their act together about answering the phone. Ordered a GE Washer Dryer Combo with haul away of the old units and installation of the new unit. The workers they sent were very unprofessional and full of excuses. They gave various excuses as to why they could neither remove the old units nor install the new one. Their poor attitude made it seem as if they never had any intention of doing the work at all. So they just left it in the middle of the living room. It took my brother and a friend less than an hour to do the install, and removal, even though I had previously paid Lowes to do that. It's possible I visited on an off day but I really didn't get great service here or find as nice of a selection as I wanted. I found the section I needed without much difficulty but the selection was a lot worse than I expected. When I searched the store for someone to help me out, I was only ever able to spot four or so people at a distance at random spots in the store. Other home improvement stores I've seen have way more people there to help, even during COVID. Finally I found someone who asked if I needed help but his info wasn't really good so I had to leave empty handed. A colleague of mine swears by this Lowes, but he did say he always checks the website first to find first if they have the item and second where exactly it's located. For many years, hundreds of trips, and tens of thousands of dollars, this was my go to big box in Lincolnwood, IL. Knowledgable, friendly staff. A clean, uncluttered and orderly store. It was like the Trader Joes of Big Box. Sadly and not unlike most retail experiences these days, it has become a haven for slackers and poor management. 75%. That's the percentage of times I leave empty handed. Good luck finding a 2x4 that doesn't resemble a hockey stick. Need a gallon of paint mixed? I recently stood pushing the red help button for 20 minutes. Even the ghost town that is the service desk couldn't locate the steward of the paint department. 2 story ladder steps blocking the screws you need and the complete blocking of the only aisle you need to go down while they shuffle pallets around at 8 in the morning. Asking one of the young associates with ill fitting pants where to find something can be an adventure. While in the garden center I saw a somewhat surly gentleman roaming the aisles cursing the whereabouts of landscape timber. I told him it was inside with the other pressure treated lumber. The guy in lumber said it was out here, he replied. The proverbial straw was a recent landscape/hardscape order I placed for delivery. It started at the Service Desk. Even though I typed up a sheet with all of the specifics, delivery address, item, item number and quantities, it was a show of ineptitude. Confusion, consultation with other associates and the asking of how many of the such and such do you need. An hour later I was out the door. That night I received a robo-call giving me the 4 hour window that my order would be delivered. The order showed up Friday early in the 4 hour window. The driver hauled off 2 large shrunk-wrapped pallets with a forklift and 2 bundles of 2x6x8's. I signed and away he went. Shortly after I started to unwrap the pallets and realized I was missing part of my order. OK, partially my fault for not unwrapping the pallets while he was there. I called, put on hold for 20min, then finally connected to the delivery department. I was informed the rest was on a pallet on the truck, just missed when unloaded and that the driver wouldn't be able to return that day. It was a holiday weekend so I rescheduled for Tues morning. Robo-call said the 4 hour window would be 7:30am-11:30am. No show, no call. I called the number the robo-caller left for delivery questions and was informed my delivery was rescheduled for the next day. Whom rescheduled? Called Lowes, put on hold for 10min then connected to the delivery department. Was informed that it was supposed to be delivered that day because he saw it loaded on truck. Huh, sorry. That was all he had to say, huh, sorry. After a brief conversation and some harsh words he said he would make sure it gets on the truck and that he would call me as soon as it was. I re-rescheduled for the next day. Robo-call told me the window would 8:30am-12:30pm. The delivery department guy called at 8:38am and said that he saw it loaded onto the truck and that it was the 5th delivery that day and that 2 deliveries had been completed already. But no later than 1pm, even though that was outside of the robo window. At 12:55 the truck pulls up, still fully loaded with deliveries. I asked the driver if this was his first delivery of the day and was told that he had 6 deliveries that morning and that he just started the afternoon deliveries. Couldn't help but think the delivery department guy had been lying. We went through the remainder of the order and still there was something missing. I said I'm gonna have to give (delivery dept guys name) a call again. The driver said, you know (name)? I do now. The driver said, (name) isn't very good at his job. I can't say I won't ever go into Lowes Lincolnwood again, but it really sucks how low I will need to set my expectations to be. read more

Checked website Monday & it said 20 something in stock..Knew from past experience that it's probably inaccurate since it was low enough inventory that those 20 something disappeared into the ether Check site on Tuesday & they now have over 80 in stock suggesting they received a shipment so I place an online order for 10 to pick up for my project on Weds. Get an email Weds morning order cancelled because they have NONE. It's as though they purposely put false inventory numbers to get you into the store then settle for something else. The grill was to be ready that day. Well, that didn't happen. I received a text it would be ready on Friday. And that didn't happen. Saturday I received a text saying the order was delayed. Ugh. So, I drive into Lowes to pick up the grill and will assemble it myself. Took 20 minutes to get from fulfillment. I was okay with that. But no. 5 employees would not let me take my grill because the Lowe's process was that they couldn't give it to me until someone released it in the system. This Lowes location does not take COVID-19 precautions seriously. When my wife and I entered the store, there was a small crowd blocking the area. They were all waiting to return something, but there isn't enough room. Nearly everyone was less than 6 feet apart. We observed one clerk with his mask pulled down below his nose, helping, yet endangering, a customer. (See the photo.) We observed several people with their masks pulled below their noses or even down over their chins. We saw a couple of people not wearing masks at all. Lastly, there were three cashiers open, but two of them face each other. This forced customers to stand 2-3 feet apart at the registers. Not a safe distance. Incompetence, thy name is Lowes. I made an appointment with Josh in cabinets to look into getting a kitchen island built in my new home. I arrived promptly at 3pm with my mom in tow (she wanted to go-- I swear I wasn't punishing her!). After a few minutes of looking at samples and waiting for Josh I asked the woman in appliances, who said he was still at lunch. At 3:15 he showed up, looking not-at-all hurried and with no apology. We found a reasonably-priced cabinet style close to what was in my kitchen and he started designing. It didn't look right, and when he finished we were confused. Why did it look so square? Why was it deeper than wide? We eventually realized he didn't use anything close to the measurements I provided (35"h x 56"w x 40"d, including the height of the granite and a breakfast bar). He'd used something like 39"w and 46"d. That doesn't even make sense! I had NO confidence at this point, but he seemed to get on the right track. The next iteration had the right dimensions in the right direction, but cabinets that were 21", a garbage that was 18", and 15" drawers. I suggested making all 3 sections 18", because math, and viola! We discussed installation, that I didn't need any demo, and the $75 measurement fee that would be deducted from the cost if I went forward. He finally gave the price and it seemed reasonable. I specifically asked about installation and he said that was all included. Really reasonable! I was super excited about my new island and decided to move forward. He said they'd need payment in full up front. My mom then surprised me by paying for it as a super generous combo housewarming and birthday gift. I called today to ask when I'll be contacted about measuring and Josh tells me they only measure when they're installing and I didn't get installation. What?! We specifically discussed it! Unreal. I asked for a full refund because I don't trust them to get anything right, and frankly I wouldn't my money or anyone else's there. read more

The man who took care of me was polite at first but quickly dismissed me saying he had actually been working an hour later than he should and he really didn't have time to take care of my request. I said ok I understand but can you fave someone follow up with me ? He asked me to leave my name and phone and email and I would hear back soon but I never did... Not really good customer service when an employee looks annoyed and stressed out when you ask for assistance. I get it's not an easy job but maybe look for something that better fits your standards. This has perhaps been the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Do not ever shop here. I am NEVER spending money on appliances here again. I bought a new washer/dryer at the beginning of December--not a cheap purchase. They were scheduled to have it delivered 12/9 and the delivery staff no-showed, claiming the parts weren't all correct. I had to take a day off work to have this product delivered during the week and organize with my building manager the elevators, etc. They rescheduled for this Saturday (today) between 8-10 am. The delivery and installation staff showed up around 10:45 (not ideal since I have been up all morning waiting) but fine. Things did not go well from the start. There was mass confusion about what the delivery was actually about and that took some time to resolve, which sounds like clerical errors on their part. Finally, they determined that, yes, I did purchase a new washer/dryer and they were to haul the old one away and install the new one. Please keep in mind I have *paid* for installation at this point and we are already a week delayed because their service workers no-showed once. After getting (almost) everything hooked up they said that the drain hose for the washer was too short and that I would need to go to Lowe's and get an extension hose and that I would be the one to install this myself. This is absolutely ludicrous! Why should I have to install it myself? I paid for installation and now you're telling me that you can't complete it? The washer and dryer is in a very small room (not my choice, just the way the condo was built) and so it is near impossible for someone to get back there to install this. The ENTIRE washer/dryer is going to have to be removed (as they are stacked and mounted to each other). I then go to Lowe's to attempt to resolve and nobody quite new what needed to happen. They could not figure out what I needed (yet their delivery staff somehow said for me to call them? Makes no sense) and at one point suggested I use putty to seal the two hoses together (again, what even). I expressed my frustration that I should not have to be doing this and that it is going to be quite literally impossible for me to move the washer/dryer. Their response was that it wasn't their fault and that the manufacturer provides what they think is necessary. I'm sorry but how am I supposed to know that? Aren't they supposed to be the subject matter experts? I did not ask for this to be a DIY project and I paid for installation. My installation was not completed! I am now on the phone with customer service and nobody seems to be able to do anything. Going to attempt to do this myself but beware! Do not purchase any appliances from this location. read more

The customer service was amazing. Every department had excellent people assisting everyone. The guy that was helping me load my car was the Store Manager. Had no idea he was the Store Manager. He was so friendly and we had a great conversation. I will definitely refer all my clients to Lowe's of Touhy Avenue. Over all a great experience! I am redoing my kitchen and went to all the big home improvement stores for cabinets. The experts here will do a design for you without first asking for an up front fee. We brought in the measurement of the room and some ideas and they worked with us to create a kitchen we would love. Joeanne is awesome and a seasoned expert. She put in 8+ hours over 3 different sessions as we tweaked cabinets and finishes until we were completely satisfied. The prices were good and I was happy when we finally placed the order. To maximize the discounts I did have to purchase on a Lowe's card which I did not have so had to open one. That was easy and quick. Now we wait for the cabinets to be made and delivered. Going to spend all my money here instead of Menards from now on. Lowe's values my business. All menards cares about is making sure I'm wearing my mask. read more

Seth and Clayton were extremely patient, professional and courteous. They brought out our new hot water heater within one minute of our arrival. Clayton was patient while I fumbled with my cell to find the bar code. Seth ran into the store to get us rope because the heater wouldn't fit into our car. Great service! Likewise, the greeter quickly directed me to the isle with bunjee cords, and when one was missing, the exchange for a complete set was easy. And, in gardening, an employee found succulent potting soil for me when I couldn't. We will be back! read more
