Service was terrible. We got to restaurant 30 minutes before closing. Asked for chicken fried steak. Kitchen refused to cook one. We were told no more fried foods. Various of selections, tasty and good presentation foods and reasonable price. I tried the prime rib steak, sauteed brussel sprout, baked potato and fruit salad. The steak is tend and juicy, I finished a large slice. Besides, the sauteed brussel sprout is really tasty. Luby's is a pretty good choice for lunch. read more

But that pie..... So, this location is a bummer. Really, truly it is. I love me some Luby's, I'm not even embarrassed to say and I can give all kinds of tips and pointers on how to have the best Luby's experience....UNTIL we went to this one. Was in town for Xmas, decided to call ahead and pick up, bc that's the way to go when there's not a drive thru. Well! We wait the obligatory 15-20 mins, go in, wait in a line, and then it's like super obvious that when we actually arrived was the point that they were like "oh yeah phone orders actually have to be like delivered to the cooks, etc.". So we wait ANOTHER 20 mins. Then it's 30 mins. Then the kid comes out and is like "yeah we told you on the phone that we have turkey but we don't have turkey so you're getting ham." Like they just assumed turkey and ham were comparable, didn't even check to see if that's what we wanted, etc. Sigh. So we change the order again. And it takes another 15 mins. THEN the kid is like "yeah it's gonna be another 5 mins for mashed potatoes" bc they just can't get their act together. I lose it, and they politely comp one of our 4 meals, and give us a free piece of pie. Cool, I like pie. All problems solved enough, right? So we get home, and the orders aren't right! They forgot one of the sides, and gave us a wrong side, too. But that pie...dang it Luby's I just can't stay mad at you. Just please get your life right with Jesus, yeah? Quality of food and service live up! We love going through and picking out fresh comfort food here (yes, there are healthy options too). But...the Mac n cheese and the fish almondine and chicken fried steak...mmmm. And the waitstaff is always courteous and friendly. Nice family place to eat. read more

Ate there today 12/2/18 at 11am food was awful & cold as usual. Have given this place multiple times to make me change my mind and it's always the same. I have always enjoyed my trips to Lubys and enjoyed my fried fish. However, today I have a non-food related concern. My husband and I stopped in today and found a young man mopping the entry. There was at least a 1/4 inch of water with suds on the floor. A real slip hazard for seniors or anyone else. The floor should be mopped after hours. read more

Today i tried the Cajun Turkey everything was cold. Had cabbage and it was tough to chew. New potatos were cold. Sweet tea is not really sweet.. When i go back i will order and feel my food to see if it is hot. Anything cold on plate i will walk out and leave the tray there. Whats the purpose of heat lamps. We went because we had a coupon from a fundraiser we bought a book from. Well, it was an experience. Glad for the many options so everyone can get what they want, but the food was very subpar. Went for prime rib and they run out at 2:30 PM and offer a rib eye instead. Then after I express my disappointment all of a sudden they have prime rib if I don't mind waiting 5 min. Well when it came out it was dry and tough and if you know prime rib it isn't dry and tough. I ask for the magr and he offers another piece and when it comes out its dry and tough just like the rolls which are dry and tough. Last year this was a wonderful dinner everything was moist and tender. I quit going to The Woodlands location because it lefty much to be desired and now this Conroe location is not what I expect. Guess I need to findan alternative and I guess this is why so many locations are folding. My daughter was in the mood to eat a restaurant where you can put food on a tray, so this was the only thing I could think of. Place looks like any other Luby's, grab a tray, servers scoop up (literally) your food, throw onto your plate, move down the line. fill your own drink, and sit down in a place with the most generic of decor...the Toyota Camry of restaurants. The servers were all very nice though, exceptionally friendly. There were 2 waitstaff going from table to table making sure food was ok and that our drinks were never half-empty. Wish service was like this at some fancier places. Chicken fried chicken I got, was actually good. Yeah, I know, it's processed, probably from Sysco, blah blah blah. But it was decent enough. Mac'n'cheese was good too. Don't forget the green jello, always a crowd-pleaser. The fruit salad was disgusting though. Food here is not as salty as it was in the past which is good. Not exactly a place I would regularly eat at, but it's a good option overall. We'll be back next time the kiddo wants to eat on a tray. read more

This place used to be good. You could depend on getting a good balanced meal. You can still get that but it's hit and miss (mostly miss). Plus, the service has gotten really bad and quite often there are dirty tables everywhere. The food just isn't as good as it used to be. So disappointed. The one in The Woodlands is usually good. I love Lubys and I love breakfast , but their breakfast buffet just didn't work for me!! The battered fish was was ok but not anything memorable. The jalapeño cornbread was grainy and only the top contained jalapeño and corn. Macaroni and cheese was a surprise with a good flavor and texture. Maybe, lunch is a better time. read more

This is by far the worst Luby's I have been to. I absolutely love Luby's, my mother has been taking me there since I was a little kid. I have been to this location twice, the first time the food and service was horrible. They told me they didn't have items that were advertised for that day, and the cashier did not know the menu at all.It was very disappointing to say the least. I had left a review on the official website, and the owners reached out told me they valued me as a customer and it would not happen again. Well I gave them another chance, I called twice to make sure they had what I was displayed on the menu I was assured that they did, when I called back to place the order I was told they don't have baked potato's, after a min of talking with the manager they all of a sudden had them. So when I arrived at this location to get my food the manager that I had spoke with was speaking loudly in the prep station for pickup customers could here saying that he didn't care how I wanted my baked potato, he was going to make it his way. I confronted this manger who let me remind you is the same manager I spoke with on the phone. He told me I was lien. On the phone he told me his name was Armando, I asked when I walked in the managers on duty at that moment and the only one was Roman. I honestly do not think he is fit to manage any store with out more customer service training, and management skills. It does not surprise me that the food is horrible and no one knew what they were doing in take out except for one lady that brought out the food, she was the only one who actual looked liked she cared about her job. You can not run a team when the leader does not show signs of leadership or responsibility!!! That baked potato was not even cooked all, it was soft on the top but the middle and outside was still hard as a rock!! Worst Luby's Ever.. I have been here many times and the service was to par for being a cafeteria. My boyfriend and I wanted to go for lunch after church today. The line was long but they where serving us in a timely manner. Jon ordered the chicken fried chicken and I ordered the fried fish. They ran out of the chicken fried chicken so they gave him a number. We didn't receive his meal until 20- 30 min later ,after I was done with my meal. She never said how long it would take or maybe we would have went a different route when ordering. She did check On it and said they messed up and gave out the new batch to other people on the line before reaching him. She offered a dessert or a free side for the wait. After he finally received his food, he cut a small piece into it; it was fresh and hot but there was a hair in it. We waved over the server and her response was "well it's fried; it's okay." I don't think in any circumstance someone else's hair is okay in a dish. Proper response would be sorry, Can I get you something else or let me get a manager. We did ask for a refund for his meal since his sides where cold and the chicken was "hairy." She tried to get him a Togo order in but honestly at this point we will never go back to this location which is a shame since we like Luby's and it's right by our house. She took his card, she told us there was no manager around so she just gave us cash which was fine but then forgot our card so we had to wait even longer. This is my first bad review on any restaurant; food isn't always great, servers may have an off day, things happen behind the scenes at restaurants all the time, that we completely understand 99% of the time but today our little lunch experience was all together a thumbs down.
