Please do not eat here. The staff is rude. They are dirty here and the line staff is rude. The girl that got my salad drop a cucumber on the tray and picked it up with her bare fingers and placed it back on the salad. I said Omg I don't want that. She said why? It's clean. Later we got to pay, and sit down. They don't care if you're held up. I always feel like they want to know if you need cash back for tip that is not warranted. I like the atmosphere, location and Its plenty of parking. Food is pretty good and always looks fresh, especially the desserts!! I'm always torn between the cod square fish and chopped steak! It's a Luby's cafeteria, what can I say. Seems like years and years ago they used to be better, but I haven't enjoyed eating at one in a very long time. A mystery to me is why there's so much patronage at this one when there's little at the one in Nassau Bay and they're essentially the same. I can't explain why, but for some reason we thought this one might be different so we tried it today. Nope, same ol', same ol'. I think they may have a slightly larger selection than the one in Nassau Bay, probably because they have so much more traffic. We waited in a VERY long line. We had the Parmesan Chicken. It was Lubylike (translation: it wasn't appetizing). We also had new potatoes, corn casserole and Texas Toast (or garlic toast?). The new potatoes were greasy, but I like greasy so they were OK. The corn casserole was the best of the lot. The toast was toasted and pretty much tasteless. They're sort-of cheap and I'm sure the food it safe, so if you're on a extremely tight budget you can make do here. For us oldies they have an even cheaper option (the Senior Luann[sp?] Plate) in the middle of the afternoon. UPDATE: We went by today (April 6, 2015) and I guess this place is a little better than the one in Nassau Bay. We had the meatloaf and it was okay. Have visited the Webster, TX location twice and both times been extremely happy. Kids eat free on Wednesday and Saturday, so that's a great deal but their prices are reasonable anyway. I love the chicken fried steak & gravy, others like the fried fish, and the kids love the chicken tenders with mac & cheese. It's a casual dining experience that is great! And the help to the table when with children is priceless. We will be back! read more

Let me be frank. I was a Luby's shareholder for many years (even when the stock was gradually loosing its value over the years, since I was a firm believer in the concept and the management. Well that went down the drain when I got severe food poisoning from the Fuqua location that sent me to Memorial Herman for 11 days. It was due to me being served food not held at safe holding temperature. Well after that incident and how management showed a lack of empathty with my complaint, I finally saw the light and went to Etrade and hit the sell button on 1000 shares at market price with a goal of never setting foot at any Luby's location ever again. Well it has been a few years down the road and they are still open (well I am pretty suprised considering how many millions they are loosing each quarter from the last set of financials). So I decided to take a gamble which I should know better for my pocketbook and my health now since that previous incident. Against sanity, I went there and ordered my usual combination of foods (Chicken fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, and mashed potatoes). The food was COLD AND INEDIBLE (EXTREMELY SALTY). Again, Luby's STUPID USE of heats lamps have failed to maintain SAFE HOLDING TEMPERATURE. Since I already experienced such SHITTY QUALITY before and decided not to even bother to complain the the nonexistent management or the "waitress". Got up and walked out leaving a pretty full tray of food on the table (I never waste food). This is definitely my LAST TIME FOR SURE I EVER SET FOOT IN A LUBY'S EVER AGAIN. Well, I gave in and tried this location again recently since the company was apparently bought out. And wow! What a nice surprise! The cheesy steak meal was perfect, and the yeast rolls were fresh and delicious like they used to be. We've eaten there twice in the last two weeks, and both times were just fantastic. I'd never been to a Luby's before, but came out of Hobby Lobby and decided to try something different. Wish I'd have just stuck with fast food for tonight. First, I took a look at the menu online before ordering. It shows a $7.99 combo with two sides. I call, and ask for the $7.99 chicken fried steak meal. Picked my two sides, then was told they weren't serving those today (website shows they were). Chose my different sides, and went to pick it up. Rings it up and it's $10.99. I asked about the price and was told they don't know why it's listed that way. Paid my $11+ after tax, and took it home (less than 3 minutes away) Order: Chicken Fried Steak Mashed Potatoes Black-eyed Peas The chicken fried steak consisted of mostly hard crunchy batter that just peeled off the small portion of tough tasteless steak. The white gravy I chose was very watery, but did have a little flavor which helped out. Mashed Potatoes weren't horrible or amazing. Black-eyed peas were mostly water with little flavor. I'm about 30 minutes past eating this meal, and it just feels like a grease pit in my stomach. Do yourself a favor and skip this place, at least for chicken fried steak. For about $1 more I'd HIGHLY recommend the chicken fried steak meal from Twin Peaks just one exit down. They give you green beans mixed with bacon, REAL mashed potatoes, and a monster portion of chicken fried steak with a delicious jalapeno white gravy. read more

This is the second time we have visited this establishment. I like the food but it is hard for me to understand how the staff or management allow pots of food on the line with no clear heating source to maintain the proper temperature. I have been in foodservice for at least 30 years and know heat lamps over a deep pot of food is not going to maintain a consistent temperature. The cabbage and broccoli I had was well below 145° which is a definite no no. If this does not change I will NOT visit here again. Even at peak times there's no excuse for this practice. Ive had three bad meals there in a row so Im out. The last time my family went, the roast beef was about a four inch thick block of dried out, overly seasoned butt piece of meat. No thanks. We were told that it would be a 20 minute wait for white meat chicken. No thanks. We settled on dark meat chicken and liver and onions since most of the other available choices were in the $13.99 price range. For that money I will go to a real restaurant, not someplace I serve myself yet am still expected to tip. I have loved Luby's since a kid and I get the same excitement everytime I enter my nearest restaurant in Webster, Texas. All the staff, servers and waitstaff are eager to help everyone with their requests and have smiles and friendly conversation. There is one particular server, "Aggie," I believe or Agatha. This young lady is just an asset to the establishment! What service! What joy she brings! We all face challenges daily and a smile speaks volumes! She gives stellar service to all when on duty! The establishment is clean and neat which is rare these days! Thank you for a great, family-oriented restaurant that has lived up to great service, quality and exceptionally tasty food for years! We went to the new Luby's on I45 between Bay Area Blvd and Nasa Parkway. They have upgraded their quality of food. It is served hot from the steam table as it was if years past. They have increased their selections of meats, vegetables and desserts. This reminds me of what Luby's was in the past. The service was incredible. Avoid this place. Two of the 4 people behind the counter were rude. The cashier seemed to be bothered by having to ring up our order. Unrolling the silverware from the black fabric napkin releases the smell of old rancid grease that is a sign that they obviously don't properly wash their linens. Not to mention the smell can't be missed so they obviously don't care about it. I cut into my Angus chop steak, that is tagged as "medium", only to find it raw in the center. There is no way this piece of meat was cooked to the required 160 degrees for ground meat to be safe. Well considering you cannot get vegetables anywhere anymore this is a weeknight go to place especially since Cracker Barrel's all taste canned now (so disappointing). I'm a big fan of Luby's and the food is almost always good! We usually go the one at NASA Rd 1, but we were closer to this one. We went there last night (12/16/17) and while in the serving line I felt like I was invisible; they were serving people behind me in line got my order wrong twice, didn't have unsweetened tea, and the dining room was a complete mess! There was only one attendant in the floor and she was clearly over worked! It was not a pleasant dining experience with the dirty tables, plates, chairs, floor throughout the dining room! Got there right at 11:00 opening time. Food was cold, hard. Our server was awful. Never got refills on our drinks. We told girl about food being hard and cold. She was not happy with us.
