I absolutely love that their pizza is thin, crispy, the cheese is light (not chewy) and supreme quality, the basil is ultra fresh and flavorful, and there's not a ton of grease. It overall meets every one of my requirements for amazing pizza ...I'm also a huge fan of the kale caesar (surprisingly non-abrasive) they blanch the kale so it's soft and coat it evenly in delicious homemade garlicky Caesar with lots of parm (so yum) ...the wings and meatballs are also a must!! read more

After chasing and failing several times in Brooklyn I was excited to finally try Mark Iacona's epic pizza. This did not disappoint even with the pandemic they had great outdoor seating and safe protocols . The pizza was great ! Thin rustic wood fired pizza maybe a little soft in middle but, amazing flavor. Is it the the best ever maybe not but, for sure in the top 5 also $25 for a fairly large pizza is pretty good value. I think the strict Barstool One Bite Pizza grade of 8.2 is pretty fair I would give it a 8.7 though. read more

Oh, and I prepaid by the phone At 8pm I called - they said it's not ready and they need another 30min. At 8.30pm I actually drove by to pick it up and they says they need a few more minutes. It's 9pm. No order. Still waiting. Utterly frustrated and upset. NEVER AGAIN, no matter how good their pizza is. Not worth it. UPDATE: once I picked up the pizza few things have happened. They said they gave my order to someone else because I wasn't there at 8pm. Even though I was instructed to wait for a phone call and then come in. Of course, no one called. Then a gentleman came back returning the order - saying he got the wrong one. What do you think - that was actually mine. They thought I didn't see that and attempted to give me my (returned) order. I must start by saying that they make a very good Pizza but this time I decided to try their Chicken Parmesan, that was a mistake, for $42.00 I expected it to be amazing. Boy was I wrong, it hardly had cheese, even though I ordered extra cheese and was charged for it, it was dry and hard and to top it off they don't even add pasta or even a leaf of whatever to accompany it. We were in Miami recently and saw this huge queue of people waiting for their turn at a pizza bar. We got our names down right away and took a nice stroll in the vicinity. It is a lovely neighborhood and cutting time won't be a problem. We ordered a salad and a plain pie with scallions, garlic and basil. Absolutely amazing! It's the closest that you're going to get to Brooklyn style pizza in Miami Beach. There's a lot of attention to detail and things like beef pepperoni and buffalo mozzarella. I attended this establishment with my wife and daughter after seeing a review in IG, and I had some high expectations. Unfortunately, we were all extremely disappointed by the food in general. We had a meatball and cheese pie and a calzone which were tasteless. For the price you are paying you expect much better quality and taste from the food. We sat at the bar and had drinks while we waited for our table and the entire experience was great from beginning to end. Once we sat at a table, we were served by Mila, who was an absolute sweetheart. Everything on the menu is fantastic so you can't go wrong with anything you order. We were three hungry gals and ordered the kale Caesar salad, artichokes (so deliciously soft), chicken parm, and a pizza with mushroom. Everything we ordered was a winner. For dessert we had cannoli, they were good and almost guilt-free because they're fairly small (I'm a cannoli snob so my standards are very high). Cocktails were good too, we also ordered a bottle of an Italian wine (can't remember which) that was tasty and well-priced. If you're a basil fan and enjoy brick oven crust with random burnt spots like me, you'll love Lucali. They put big sprigs of fresh basil on top of the pizzas and calzones. It's probably my favorite pizza in Miami/Miami Beach. If the hostess was nicer, then it'd be my favorite pizza place. I usually go crazy with toppings, but with this type of pizza we decided to keep it simple. The pizzas are thin and served with a tasty, but watery crushed tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese. We ordered a plain pie $24 + portobello $3 + pepperoni $3 + garlic and basil at no extra charge. It's best to eat it quick while the pizza is nice and hot. I haven't been a fan of calzones in the past (think Parks and Rec) because they just seemed like pizzas folded in half, but somehow less yummy. I enjoyed a calzone at another Miami Beach pizza place and was glad our party ordered one here at Lucali. The calzone was quite different from the pizza because it had a delicious, quality ricotta cheese filling. We ordered one at $20 base price and added pepperoni $3 and shallots $3 (as well as garlic and basil at no additional charge). Of course I piled on the basil and tomato sauce as they provided a shallow bowl of it with a large spoon. We ordered two dessert calzones, $8 each. The were delightful! Reminiscent of the savory calzone, they were also filled with ricotta. But the addition of sweet honey transformed it for me. There was a ton of nutella drizzle on top and it was also covered in powdered sugar. Yum! Service was friendly and efficient. Our server got extremely busy towards the end, so I notified the hostess that old menus with different prices were mixed in with the new ones. She just said, "Oh." She didn't say she'd let the manager know, nothing Parking is cheap and easy in the parking garage on Bay Road just a few store fronts south. My favorite pizza shop from New York! I was so excited to find out Miami is their second location. You can't go wrong with their original pie of just crust,sauce, cheese, and basil. I first heard about Lucali from New York City. Amazing pizza! Unfortunately, during my time there, I never had a chance to venture out to Brooklyn to try. We were quoted an hour wait (on a Sunday evening). The hostess took our phone number, and let us know what she would text us as soon as a table became available. With growling stomachs, we headed next door for some appetizers and returned back to Lucali. As we sat down, we observed our neighboring parties and their food orders. Realizing that the pizza was too large for us to finish (due to its large size), we decided to go straight for dessert - NUTELLA PIE! Each of us was only able to finish 2 slices and took the rest of the 4 slices back to our hotel. The nutella pie is pizza dough with nutella, powdered sugar, ricotta cheese, and mint. YUM! Tip: - Would suggest a party of 4 to go together to try judging from the size of their whole pies as well as the nutella pie. That way, there aren't a lot of leftovers. ENJOY! read more

Lucali is simply the best sit-down pizza joint in the city. Is it the best deal? No. Is it expensive? At $24, a pie, yes... BUT, consider this: (1) you can park in the municipal lot (entrance just to the South of the restaurant) for $1 an hour; (2) if you don't live nearby, it's an infrequent extravagance; (3) they serve Vero water (still or sparkling) for free, which is a major plus in my books (and a trend I hope expands city-wide). When you consider the SoBe location, the convenience, the quality, etc., the price is a little easier to swallow. Also the Calzone just plain kicks ass. Originally it only came in one size (I think $10), but now the small is $12 and the large is $18. Get the large and have a great lunch the next day - they will hook you up with some sauce in your "to-go" box. If you go with a group get a pizza AND a calzone. That pretty much sums up the entire menu, so no reason to leave any stones unturned. Only open for lunch on Sat/Sun, and even then they open at 1pm. A little strange to open that late for lunch, but then STAY open all the way through the afternoon and to 11pm at night. Whatever - keep doing what you are doing Lucali. read more
