The deli case has yummy take home options you'd expect from an old fashioned SF style Italian deli. They have some of the best sandwiches around (and probably some of the best I've had ever)! I'm always pleased and love that I can customize just the way I want with a lot of topping choices. The bread is awesome (I usually get the soft roll) and great selection of meats. I recently discovered that the pickles are amazing (I usually don't get them on my sandwiches, but did the last time and will always add them from now on!). The people are friendly and it's efficient, even if sometimes is a little bit of a wait (but I've never had to wait too long). They seem somewhat pricey, but it's definitely worth it because it's great quality plus you're getting a lot of food (I usually get two meals out of one sandwich because they are large)!! read more

The first time we came here last year, it was pretty good but yesterday was a different story and one that has convinced me not to try it again! We ordered 2 sandwiches and some 3-bean salad to go. I had the BLT on wheat toast. First the toast was not really toasted, there were a 'few' thin slices of tomato and a lot of microwaved bacon (YUCK). It was awful! My husband ordered a roasted pork sandwich and all the meat was in the middle and nothing on the outer edges of the bread. Not very tasty either. Then the salad was simply awful. It leaked thru the bag and was a mess and it was simply beans soaked in oil and NO flavor at all. Not even salt. Not worth trying again for sure! read more

This is the best deli in Petaluma. I love that they put all the trimmings on the sandos. I would never have thought of putting horseradish on a sandwich but it really makes it taste amazing. My go to sando is the salami and swiss cheese on a soft roll. They are fast, give you a lollipop and have awesome potato/macaroni salads, so fresh and so good. read more

Just had THE WORST SANDWICH I have ever had. I usually like this place. I go here a lot. And I just spent 30 MINUTES wiping the pound of mayonnaise off of my turkey sandwich. (ordered light mayo, very light.) Was seriously on EVERY layer in giant gobs. Even when I finished cleaning it, the sandwich was still squirting mayo all over the place. Still as good as when I first started eating here in 2001. I pretty much forgot about this place, because I no longer work in the area, but I happened to be passing through on the way to the library, remembered it was in the area, and stopped in for a quick bite. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, a special featuring spicy chicken with pepper jack cheese and ranch dressing spread. I ordered it with the works-- onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and added the balsamic vinegar and oil dressing that they offer. That extra touch really pushes a sandwich from delicious to over the top delicious. I brought the second half of my sammie home, heated it for 30 seconds in the micro then wished I had another half, because it was so good. Happy to be back after so many years, and the next time I'm in the area, I will definitely pick up another sandwich. read more

Best sandwich place in Petaluma hands down. After eating here for the first time I vowed I would never eat at Subway ever again. No sandwich compares to Luchessi's. There are TONS of varieties to choose from, a wide array of chips and sides, and fresh breads and meats you can purchase to bring home for your own sandwich-making! Yum, Thanksgiving in a sandwich! I had the special turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry sauce on a fresh baguette. What a treat! The turkey and stuffing were warm, and I asked for the cranberry sauce on the side to spread on. The turkey is good (not processed), and they bake their own breads. I only ate half as the sandwiches are huge (can easily be split with someone). They offer other deli items like pastas salads, green salads, desserts and drinks. The deli has a few tables inside and some outdoor seating, but I recommend coming in early as it will fill up quickly. read more

Hands down best sandwich in Petaluma. I have friends who live in Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa who drive down for Lucchesi's. They have the best fresh baked baguettes. Their sandwiches are rather large and could easily be shared. My boyfriend and I are in love with their red potato salad. They have the best chips and drink selection in town. Never had a bad sandwhich from this place as they make killer sandwhiches here. It's to the point I crave this place at least once a week. Great bread, meat and cheese selections. The extras on the sandwich are always fresh (ie... the tomatoes, lettuce, etc.) Tried their salad from the cold refridgerated section (excellent!) So many choices, you might not be able to ever eat your way through their selections! The service is efficient and friendly. For a Deli, I give this place the ultimate thumbs up! That's not saying a lot since there are only a handful of other sandwich spots including subway. I was underwhelmed by the food. I've heard people raving about this place and had high expectations. The bread was pretty good, meat was thin, and overall it was somewhat bland. The staff is not friendly and seemed like they had better thing to do than take sandwich orders. For a mere deli they are awfully pretentious. The decor is tacky, it's meant to look like an old Italian deli. Instead of being just that they paint the walls and put out weird plastic displays to look like it is one. Don't let the location in a typical strip mall deter you, this place is the real deal when it comes to sandwiches. Quality ingredients, and friendly staff. Any time I'm in P-town I try to find a reason for a sandwich just so I can go to Lucchesi's. Now, I don't think it is the best deli ever for everything, but what I order, is always AMAZING. I get the house roasted turkey on the house baked soft roll. I put pretty much everything but onions on my sandwich and add cranberry. I don't know what to say other than my mouth is watering as I type this review, and I'm not even hungry right now! Solid sandwiches we did a take out order and it was really good the man who answered the phone was very nice he repeated the order back took our name and phone number. When my boyfriend arrived to pick up the order he said the person at the register let him cut the line to complete our order he also told me how nice and professional everyone was he also mentioned that we will have to go back and check out their deli salads. read more

Stopped here on our way up to Calistoga. Hubby got a huge sandwich & I got a Cobb salad. The salad was pre-made but they took the egg off for me since I don't eat hard boiled eggs. Salad was good with bacon & blue cheese crumbles. Hubby's turkey sandwich was good, lots of toppings & he got his choice of bread. It was lunchtime on a Friday & this is clearly a popular spot. Excellent deli! Staying at the Best Western for business and wanted a quick bite to eat - well it is quick and absolutely delicious! Baguette was crunchy, the vegetables were super fresh, and they have a great assortment of sides and some fun sodas.
