I haven't been at Luciano's in a long time and let me tell you, the food is still delicious from when I used to go there 9 years ago. I celebrated my 1 year wedding anniversary there back in May 08 and had nochantly told the waitress it was our first wedding anniversary (not looking for anything free) but she saw how goofy we were just hactually making it to a year and after dinner she had surprised us with a chocolate cake & ice cream with 2 forks and said it was compliments from her. This place is a time machine back to the early 90's, directly on set for the movie Casino or Goodfellas, and I think that's exactly what they are going for. The people this place attracts are quite interesting, and the people watching alone might be worth coming. Luciano's is a real life 3.5 stars. Started out with the escargot, which blew my expectations out of the water. They were swimming in a pool of butter during a hurricane of butter aka perfect. The provided bread dipped into this glory was simply divine. My coffee crusted filet was where they fell short. It was egregiously under-seasoned, which was a double disappointment since I expected extra flavor from the coffee crust I was promised. The sauce was also overly sweet, to boot. I guess I shouldn't have ordered a high priced steak at a red sauce joint. My mother was extremely happy with her seafood casserole; she even said it was the best she's ever had. I have been to Luciano's 4 times over several years. Prices are high for quality of the food, example iceberg lettuce in the salad. Wait staff is consistently high quality, experienced and knowledgable. The negatives, unless you are a regular, local or a large party, there are better Italian restaurants in the area, a short drive to Providence will significantly upgrade the quality of food. Additionally, if you are a fan of a 2 hour meal, this is your place, if not, I would suggest skipping the appetizer. On our most recent visit, this past week, we had to leave prior to receiving our main course as we had a commitment. This was after mentioning to the server we had evening plans. Experience should have told me 2 hours was not enough, we left after an hour and 45 minutes and still had not received the main course. All in, this is a very large restaurant with decent food, can accommodate very large parties, but service is inconsistent at best. Don and Gigi's in Attleboro is a much better option for food quality and service. read more

Went on a Tuesday night, and although the dining room was pretty empty, our party of 5 was sat directly in front of the server's station... so our background music for the evening was the clanging (is that a word?) of dishes and silverware... whatever, it happens. Bro had an AMAZING lobster ravioli app stuffed with ricotta and asparagus. Entrees were good as well, traditional Italian fare, I had a version of chicken picatta. It has a different name, which I can not remember at this moment... it was pretty much chicken picatta, only the chicken was battered with egg or something... it was very light. Huge also, ended up taking more than half of it home. My family's entrees were also yummy . All of our entrees were served with a mesclun salad, with a delish balsamic dressing. It was thick, and a little sweet. Different, but very good. I usually order creme brulee if I see it on any menu, but I opted for profiteroles filled with Chantilly cream, "dusted" with chocolate. I thought this would be a nice, light dessert. I was wrong... the three profiteroles were smothered in a thick chocolate sauce. Although they were not large in size, the five of us could not finish the order. WAY too rich... Good overall, HUGE menu (pasta, veal, chicken, steaks, seafood, etc....) a little pricey for the area -considering it's RT 1, next to a truck stop- Closed on Mondays... read more

Can any good thing come out of Wrentham, food wise? Well, It brought me back about a dozen times since this past June. Luciano's is located right on Route 1 in Wrentham. I think someone already termed it as an Oasis in the desert in terms of finding a great Restaurant and I would agree with that statement. Authentic Italian fare here with good portions and great flavor. The pappardelle bolognese($20) rocks as does the "16 ounce all natural, center-cut White Marble Farms premium pork chop grilled and served with apple sauce($25)." Flavors on both of these choices are money! One of my favorites is the Pollo e Salsiccia!- Juicy chicken breast with italian sausage resting in good serving of rich and cheesy fettucini alfredo - awe yea! You will pay North End price but with much better food quality and no charge for parking. The servers are professional and attentive, and our server always remembered what we ordered the past, love that! We enjoy eating in the lounge because that's where "Johnny T" performs each Friday and Saturday. Johnny T has got it going on with his solo performing. He plays 4 to 5 instruments in the course of the evening from his Keyboard to the harmonica to the sax, alto-sax and flute! He brings you the hits of Sinatra,Bennett, Billy Joel and can swing over to Lou Rawls and Stevie Wonder - I mean, this man's gift is amazing. People will get up and dance on the tiny dance floor at the back of the lounge. Johnny will take requests, but you should tip him if you request, because, that's just the right thing to do if you put a demand on someone's gifting. I could write alot more here about Luciano's, but I will keep it short and sweet. Luciano - the owner, will pace around during the evening and say hi to his patrons, and I can see the people appreciate that. Nice place Luciano - Big Pauly is a fan. I highly recommend Luciano's to all who live South of Boston if you are looking for the whole package deal from product quality, professional service and great entertainment. This was my first time to Luciano's - a friend of mine recommended it. Four of us met up there for dinner on Friday night. We met at the bar and ended up sitting in the bar area since they had some nice booth/tables. First off, they get bonus points for serving the Hendricks and tonic with a slice of cucumber. We dug in to calamari and jumbo lump crab meat cocktail to get things started; both were delish. The jumbo crab meat was nice and cold, sweet, and fresh. The calamari fritti is pretty much table stakes around here at Italian restaurants and while this didn't blow our doors off, it was good. The service was good and attentive (I'd have given her a shout-out here if I had caught her name). I appreciate that our server gave us the specials for the day as well as her opinion on a few of the dishes. It was good to learn which of the pasta dishes featured fresh-made pasta - the papparadelle and fettuccini. We had veal marsala, tortelloni, and what they call "Gamberi, Aragosta e Scallop Casseruola" which had lobster meat, jumbo shrimp and sea scallops in a light cream sauce. I didn't try it but it looked fantastic and I was informed it tasted as good as it looked. I had the chicken cacciatore that the waitress recommended - it was fantastic. The atmosphere here is very familial, with a sprawling dining room that spans several very large rooms far into the back of the building. The low ceilings make you feel like you're in a small restaurant until you start shuffling your way to the back. The waitress was probably the most unimpressive part of the experience. She struck me as a townie who just didn't care that much about her job. Not that she was bad or messed anything up, just not what I'd expect at the price point. My appetizer was incredible (Prosciutto wrapped Mozzarella) but the meal was just ok (Pollo Alla Cacciatore). Overall I was satisfied when we left (portions were huge) but when compared with similar priced restaurants in the city I just can't see it as a great value. read more

This was perhaps one of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant. The service was awkward and slow. We received our starters and drinks in a timely manner. Then we had no contact with anyone. Our water and wine glasses were empty for 40 minutes. We think that the server forgot to put our order into the kitchen. When questioned as to when our entrees would arrive we we're told that "nothing against you" and that the kitchen was backed up. What is that supposed to mean? When the food was delivered it was obviously rushed through the kitchen. The items that were breaded has uncooked flour caked on them. The linguine alla Vongola was just wine and no substance to the sauce. When we complained to the manager he contradicted and barely apologized for the whole experience. Overall a bad experience for which we paid over $300. We will never be back. We told that to the manager and he didn't seem to really care. read more

Nice atmosphere, good service, average food. I was quite impressed with the size of this place - with a huge parking lot I didn't think I would need to use the complimentary valet service, but there was not one spot open. When I got inside I could see why - Luciano's is one of the largest restaurants I've seen! It was packed too! Definitely make reservations. The menu is extensive and the list of specials is incredibly long. There were at least 5 appetizer and main course specials, which were recited by our waitress perfectly. While I was impressed by her skills I couldn't remember half of them. A printed list of the specials would have been very helpful. I ended up choosing the pappardelle bolognese, as they claimed their pasta is made fresh daily and there's nothing I love more than fresh pappardelle. Unfortunately, this definitely didn't taste fresh. What's worse is the pasta was mushy and the sauce was bland. I'm not picky but this dish was disappointing. My friend got the ravioli, which was definitely better. I'd be hard pressed to come back to this restaurant, though. read more

Amazingly authentic and delicious Italian fare. There's no need to go to the North End, just come to Luciano's. Had the Shrimp Luciano, Grand Marnier shrimp w/ homemade cappellini in a cream sauce. Blew my mind! Pasta was freshly homemade, shrimp was tender, not overcooked, and so flavorful, and the sauce was the perfect amount to coat the pasta and wasn't too rich. Loved it so much, we came back the next day and brought family w/ us. Everyone had great meals, cannelloni, veal chop, veal stuffed w/ mozzarella w/ a sage & wine sauce, gnocci... It's a large restaurant w/ traditional decor, but is just enough and doesn't cross to the cheesy side. Our waiter, Robert, was awesome and the owner came around to check on tables, including us. Prices are higher for dinner, but inline w/ North End. The lunch prices are amazingly low, so enjoy it for lunch if you're on a budget. Why go to Chili's when you can get gourmet for the same price? read more

A great place to go for a special occasion. Luciano takes you to your table, and yes, speaks in his Italian accent, but it's still nice to see an owner care enough about his restaurant and talk to his patrons. He kept calling our server "Susie" instead of "Rosie" which was on her nametag, but other than that, he was great. Rosie was awesome! She gave great suggestions, and knew the menu the way that a good server should. We had the complimentary bread (two different kinds), calamari, salad, and I had a delicious filet with huge tender chunks of lobster meat, asparagas and a delicious combination of sauces. I also had the cream puffs for desert. Everything was amazing! My compliments to the bartender as well! This is absolutely our favorite place. We have been regulars for 13 years and it never disappoints. The food is fresh and flavorful and the menu caters to a variety of tastes. You can get veal parmesan, filet mignon, cioppino or homemade pasta. There is always a long list of great specials and Luciano's veal chop is always my favorite. The service is always superb and spot on. This place is really busy on Friday and Saturday nights so it is always a good idea to make a reservation on Wednesday or Thursday of that same week. read more

No high end steakhouses around here. Someone at work recommended them for steak. I did the NY Strip. Very very good and fulfilled by urge. Still, Typical of non-steakhouses, it was a little over cooked but not much. If you like your meat med rare. I would go with rare. If it's too pink for you then they can always heat it up. Did not try dessert. Looking at nearby tables, they look massive and build for at least two to share. Next time I will try the Italian food but would return for steak as well (just adjust the doneness) read more

We had our sons rehearsal dinner here and everything was spectacular! The private room with the outside terrace was beautiful with flowers and lights and the food and service was the best we've ever experienced!! The owner even came in and congratulated us ! As bad an experience as is possible. Arriving at 6PM we were greeted and seated. By 7:30PM we had our appetizers. At 9:00PM we walked out having never received our entrees. No management involvement, no explanation, no apologies. I would eat dirt before ever stepping into this restaurant again. read more

Like fine dinning is supposed to be. Made our annual pilgrimage last evening, sure to distance ourselves from the aforementioned buffoon of a waitress and were richly rewarded for our effort. Craig was a marvelous waiter. Completely in charge and thoroughly watchful over our party of 10, he exhibited the professional grace we had missed on 2 previous visits. Taking all 10 orders without the benefit of paper, he made but only a few mistakes... i.e. clams with the appetizers when we specifically said 'no clams', and 1 order of mashed instead of of baked. Pretty neat ! With tip and drinks (no desert - cake at the house), we were looking at $55 a person and everyone thought their meals were outstanding. The kitchen still needs a firmer hand; 2 steaks were seriously under-cooked (and went back) and the appetizers took far too long, and I mean far too long, to arrive. Any other waiter and I would have been unhappy, but Craig made us feel so comfortable that these faux pas could be easily over-looked. After-all, he wasn't cooking the steak. In this area, there aren't many top notch restaurants. You either gotta drive to Providence or Boston, but Luciano's is like the food oasis in a desert of casual fare. Now, for us, Luciano's is a real treat. It's usually a special occasion when we come here. Today, it was our 11th anniversary, and how apropos was it that the couple at the table next to us was celebrating their 49th. First things that come out are nice Italian crusty bread with infused oil, and a small foccacia. Both very tasty, and the crusty bread is definitely traditional old school Italian bread. We started out with a couple of appetizers: the arancini (Italian rice balls) and fried calamari. The calamari were done perfectly. Nice and tender with a light coating of batter, a few pepper rings, and a bit of cocktail sauce. Two nice sized rice balls came out on a bit of tomato sauce. The arancini were filled with cheese, peas, prosciutto. Very nice.. Then comes our two salads. Basic salads, but the kicker is the house dressing... It seems to be an Italian dressing, with a sweeter taste. Very nice. The only problem with the salad was that mine had a bit of iceberg heart, which is a culinary turn-off to me. For entrees, I had the beef braciola special over gnocchi. A braciola is a thin steak, rolled up with some sort of filling (there are variations on the filling, from bread crumbs to egg & salami. In this case Italian deli meats) and braised in the tomato sauce. Now my mom made this for me when I was a kid, and it's been almost 20 yrs since I've had one. This one didn't disappoint. Almost brought a tear to my eye while eating it. Tender beef, tasty tomato sauce, and nice fluffy gnocchi. My wife had the stuffed veal chop special with mashed potatoes. Stuffed with lobster, cheese, & prosciutto, and topped with a mushroom demi-glace. Cooked to perfection and generous with the filling. The second small thing I saw, was pre-grated parmesan cheese. Now, i'd presume it was grated by machine in the kitchen, but fresh grated by the waiter would be a nice touch. Now, Luciano's is not cheap. Expect dinner for two, with drinks, appetizers, & desserts to run well over $100. But you get five-star food and impeccable service. Our waiter (Kevin) was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. At Luciano's, you never EVER say "where's the waiter?". In addition, you often see Mr. Luciano Canova himself mingling with the guests. He makes sure, that your dining experience is top-notch. read more

Well, judging by the other reviews - some love it; some hate it. Me? I was there for a group business dinner. Extensive menu, and wine list. A good selection of wines in the 30-50$ range. Service was good. I had a stuffed veal chop (lobster/prosciutto/mozzarell). Portions were good size. Preparation was good, but not outstanding. Not a 5-star italian place, but everybody seemed to enjoy their meal. Pricey - not sure i'd pick it on my own dime, but can't say i didn't enjoy the meal. read more

Awesome service, fast and friendly, from Kathy, for dinner at the bar. Great, dark and cool atmosphere. The food was all delicious. Starting with fresh warm bread, then to a Caprese salad (this had onions on top which we had not seen before), chicken parmesan with ziti and finally, molten chocolate cake. Had our first visit to Luciano's this week and it was a great experience! Very prompt seating, nicely appointed dining area, attentive service, good food & drink, good coffee....what's not to like? Good food terrible service We went there on a weekend, the restaurant was decently busy, not very busy. Our server was Betty. Initially, she was ok. The appetizers were pretty good and the entrees as well. After having our entrees, the server gave us the desert menu upon asking. After that, she disappeared for 15-20 minutes. I called for another server and she went looking for our server. Upon coming back to the table, The first words Betty said was "I thought you needed more time". Really? You don't even come to check on us for 15-20 minutes and instead of apologizing, you have the audacity to instead say that. We just skipped the dessert. The food and the ambience is pretty good. But unfortunately, the service did not match the pricey and classy place. read more

This is a favorite in the area. I first discovered this place through a planned holiday lunch. This place is huge with multiple rooms and is off a not so nice part of Rte 1 so I was a little skeptical. However, the service and the food was excellent. I was so impressed that I brought my better half who tends to have higher expectations and she loved it too. I'm not a dessert person but she's already talking about heading back for different items on the dessert menu. I'd like to try the tomahawk chop at some point! read more
