I have been visiting this establishment for quite sometime. However I see more and more on how the owner of this business treats his employees and customers. I went in today with my two kids and the poor workers and customers are dripping in sweat because the air conditioning does not work. The cooks and the girl in the front are so hot. I was just standing waiting for my food and I was sweating, so I can't imagine how hot they're. On another note how does this owner get away with no restrooms? Big sign on the front desk that says no bathrooms.. I usually have my party's catered from here and also our company party's. Had a delicious lunch with baby girl after picking her up from school. I didn't eat all day besides jamba juice after my root canal. I thought this might be soft enough to eat. It hurt a bit but the service the girl that took our order was so friendly and kind. She had a smile on her face and even brought our food to the table. We always come to this location they always make it perfectly here. Baby girl wanted to draw in her little book so she asked the lady for a pen she let her borrow one that was so nice thank you so much :) so sorry I didn't get her name. We decided to dine in and it was nice having a late lunch/dinner. Enjoyed our meal, we also had drinks but I didn't take a photo of those. I got Mt. Dew and baby girl got root beer lol. I haven't always had the best customer service experiences with L&L, but I usually opt here when I'm craving Hawaiian food and need someplace nearby. I called in for take out and ordered a "Chicken Combo (half BBQ chicken, half chicken katsu) Plate" ($17.35) and a "Kalua Pork with Cabbage Plate" ($16.99). This time, service was friendly and my food was ready quickly within 10 minutes. Each plate came with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of mac salad. All the meats were flavorful and good, and I especially liked how the katsu stayed really crispy even after a 15 minute drive. The only drawback was the stiff price for the portion size you get. Great food. Nice location because of the shopping center. And the services always been good. I haven't been there lately as I heard the portions got smaller but what I recall they were always bigger. Another Hawaiian barbecue that's right near the downtown Brea has good food also but their portions are too small and their prices are too big. If the price is match the portions that would be okay. The food is decent but nothing special. I ordered the bb mix plate. The ribs were good but very little meat. The bbq beef and chicken had nice flavor. The rice was moist and the mac salad was good. Thats where I should have stopped. I thought I would try the shaved ice and it was the worse syrup I have ever had, I had two bites and dumped it into the planter in the parking lot. Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. Will never be back. This was for a catering order. I hosted a birthday party at my house last Saturday and spent over $450 on food for the party. The Kahlua Pork and BBQ Beef were so salty they were inedible. It completely ruined the meal. I normally don't complain but a guest nudged me because it was so bad she said. I didn't call Sunday because it was my family members actual birthday and we were continuing the celebration so I waited until Monday. The mgr was not there so I left a message. Then tonight ( I left the message last night ) at about 15 minutes until closing I still have not received a call back so I call them. I spoke to the manager Mike and he proceeds to tell me that their marinade is always the same, the proportions always the same, that he's never had any complaints. I tell him 'well it was inedible' and that I still had the food and asked if he would like me to bring it if he didn't believe me so that he can taste and see for himself how little we ate. Then he's said no, no, no I believe and then asked me why I didn't call the night of the party? Can you believe this guy? I said because we ate later, you were already closed and I wasn't going to interrupt the party ro call the restaurant to complain! Then he continued with the 'they always use the same marinades, the proportions are always the same....' essentially calling me a liar, AGAIN! So then he asked me what do I want and I told him I wanted a partial refund. He said no we can't do that. I said why not? He didn't have a good answer. Then he asked why I waited until today to call! I told him I didn't. I called yesterday and you didn't call me back. I had to call again. I didn't call you Sunday because it was the actual birthday and we were celebrating so I called the next day. Then he went again with the whole 'we use the same marinades, the proportions are always the same and we've never received any complaints' line again. He sounded like a robot! So I asked him directly do you think I'm lying?? And he of course says no, no, no. Then he wants to know if I have a receipt and we go through a whole song and dance about the order number and the card used and basically tried to make me feel like we had never placed the order! I was blown away. Finally he tells me he can refund $50. I said that's it? That's not even 20%! He didn't give me a good reason but I didn't want to argue anymore so I gave in. I like Hawaiian bbq and I'd like this place to stay open, so I hope they see the reviews and make improvements based the feedback. The katsu meat is so thin, it is mostly breading and no meat. I make katsu myself and I just really want to give the feedback to please not pound your meat so thin until it's almost nonexistent. I get maybe this way you can stretch out the meat and make more katsu, but customers can see what you're doing and it doesn't feel good to pay for katsu and get just breading and like 2mm of meat. Also, customer service can be improved. The cashier can be a bit cold. So removing one star for the ridiculously thin katsu, and removing one star for the lack of welcoming customer service. read more

L&L always hits and this review is more so 3.5 than 3. Not a fan of the ambiance here as it's a bit worn down, especially in comparison to the other stores in the plaza. Always a great stop for all your Hawaiian barbecue goods. Most locations are consistent with the quality of the food. I always order the Mini Chicken Katsu plate and it comes with just the perfect amount of food. It comes with a scoop of white rice, one scoop of macaroni salad, and the larger side of the to-go box is the chicken katsu. However, this time I noticed that they had put a layer of cabbage underneath the katsu. Probably to fill up the space. It comes with the katsu sauce which just goes amazing with the chicken katsu. The rice is thick and more chewy which I enjoy. The macaroni salad has always been one of my favorite things from L&L. The katsu has the perfect amount of crunch and actual chicken ratio. I am always satisfied with my mni plate. I tried using the Yelp check-in to get a free drink which says it comes with any purchase, but the guy at the front said it was only for regular sized plates. Generally this confirms my suspicion that the meat is not fresh or have not been stored properly. I called and spoke with store manager Mike to inform him of my review.
