Service from the front door (hostess) to dining was exceptional. Our server was so lovely, we had to ask for the manager. Yes she was that good, wish I could recall her name. Food was delicious. Tried the fried shrimp for the first time with mashed potatoes and veggies (that was a winner side dish). Shrimp had little spice in the batter which made dish better. Unimpressed, but ok for a quick fix. The food was okay. The flavors just aren't as they used to be. Apple butter was lacking flavor. St Louis and Beef ribs were both lacking their signature flavors. The beef ribs were a whole mess to fight for just to eat and they weren't as tender as they used to be. The Mac and cheese was okay - mostly bland. The service was not great. We kept getting stuck in limbo between whether we were going to be seated or not. By the time we got seated, we waited 20 minutes for a server to actually take our order. A host told us that we were seated in the wrong area and that no server was "assigned" to us. There was no compensation for this whatsoever. I will give credit to our server for at least trying to make up for it and for apologizing for the mishap. I got the ribs and I believe Texas style brisket . The ribs were the saving grace sooo good . The brisket was 80 percent fat 29 percent meat. My boyfriend's chicken had a flavor we couldn't put our finger on. If you can see in our photos the pork burnt ends weren't really burnt or have that caramelization. Not recommended Cerritos location! Wanted to try some bbq meats but did not have enough time to dine in, so I ordered take out. The Cerritos location seemed short-staffed, no one was to welcome as customers walked in. Tried their 2-meat lunch & realized it was pricey for the portions received. A female worker seemed friendly enough handling dine-in & take-out orders. It was not peak time busy but delayed in servicing. I asked a man (possible manager) if I could get extra biscuit but he said only 1 or entree. I then asked the woman who took my order if only dine-in could get extra biscuits & she said ya but she could give me 1 extra biscuit this time, so I said yes, please & thanks. Later the man came w/ my order & the woman walked behind him... I thought the looks were odd. I was right suspecting the man wanted to make sure I didn't give her problem when finding out she could not give me the extra biscuit. Very disappointed & funny that they couldn't honestly apologize for the mixed communication & declined to give me 1 more biscuit Why not inform me how much you would charge for extra biscuits? As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I don't take writing reviews lightly--but this experience deserves to be called out. I came in to celebrate my brother's birthday and was immediately met with poor service. Our server never greeted us, never introduced himself, and showed little to no engagement with our table from the start. The only reason I even know his name is Isaac is because I overheard him properly introduce himself to the table next to us. What made this worse was the clear inconsistency in how service was given. I'm Latino, and the Caucasian family seated right next to us received a warm greeting, a full introduction, and noticeably better attention from the same server. Meanwhile, we were essentially ignored. That difference in treatment was obvious and unacceptable. Throughout the meal, we had to repeatedly track people down for basic items like bread and ketchup. Instead of our server doing his job, we relied on bussers and food runners just to get simple requests handled. At the end of the meal, I asked for more bread--something minimal--and it was treated like an inconvenience rather than a standard request. We spent around $200 for what was easily one of the worst service experiences I've had at this restaurant. I've been coming here for over 10 years to celebrate special occasions, but after this, I won't be returning.
