Madison my server was the bomb. So nice about replacing my sashimi order when I ordered the sake salmon but got the SOCKEYE salmon instead. The sake and saba (mackerel) sashimi were tender, flavorful and fatly cut. The Osaka Sashimi Roll was on point - lots of sashimi and minimal rice. Ultimately, we ordered a Joker roll, Harley Quinn roll, and the filet mignon pho. Everything was good, but the Joker roll stood out as did the beef in the pho. The lady and I just had lunch here. It's right around the corner from my office and I just found my new jam. The lady had the chicken bento box and I had the poke bowl. Let start and say the shrimp egg roll is stupid delicious. Cream cheese with some umami deep fried in a rice paper. Probably my favorite egg roll anywhere. Better than my mom's shrimp egg roll. They had the best cali rolls I've ever had! When we arrived the host offered to sit us outside, it was 6pm and it is January... Naturally we checked it out especially since they were busy and we had never been there. When getting outside there was no one and cold. That wasn't going to work. The host appeared to not give a crap and just wanted to go back to the host stand with two other girls to gossip. The first part of our experience wasn't good and not welcoming at all. After getting an obvious empty table (don't know why that wasn't offered earlier) we had a great experience! Sushi was good and server was amazing! We had many questions and the server went out of her way to try to get answers, she was super friendly/caring! When leaving, of course the three girls at the host stand were still way into their gossip to even care to notice us leave. Is it just me or has this placed dropped the FFFFFFF off? I remember my first time here. one of my lady friends and I had a long overdue lady night. We drank all the $9 cocktails which were refreshing and delicious. We are all the sushi and everything was super fresh and the sushi kicked some ass. And even though the place was packed, the service was impeccable. Fast forward a few ( or more) months and my lady friends and end up here for lunch but precariously close to happy hour. Walking in, the pungent aroma of slightly off fish hit me. Like in the area where they are preparing the sushi. Immediately, I was like nope. Let's stick to the cooked things today. After comparing the menus and I determined that the prices weren't really that much different for food, so I settled on a bento box with teriyaki chicken. For like $13 it seemed like a damn good bargain. It came with miso soup, ginger salad, shrimp spring roll, rice, the chicken, and California roll. We also ordered lobster dumplings for the table. And some dranks. Pretty quickly our server brought out the salads and miso soup. Not anything to write home about but fine. Then the lobster/crab dumpling came out. Beautiful presentation. Definitely not fresh lobster and crab but it was still tasty. They also gave us a plate of shrimp egg rolls. We were confused because we thought that came with our bento boxes but ok. So we are enjoying our apps and dranks and one of the ladies at the table gets her giant spicy tuna poke bowl. It looked amazing and she said as much too. The server said our bento boxes would be out soon. 5 minutes go by then 10. My friend that ordered the poke bowl wanted to wait but we were like nah girl go. And so she did. By the way, did I mention how big this bowl was??? Like it was a whole ass salad bowl for like three people. Well, by the time our bento boxes got to the table sans our Cali rolls, she had pretty eaten her whole poke bowl. And this bihhh a slow eater. We also got an extra serving of egg rolls because apparently she brought the first ones out by mistake. So finally the Cali rolls come out too and we have all of our entree like 20 minutes apart. We also had to ask for wasabi because it didn't come with the bowl and apparently they don't have pickled ginger anymore???? Like what? Cali rolls were ok, better when doused in a healthy paste of soy sauce and wasabi. But the teriyaki chicken. Oh my. I am scared to think about how long that chicken has been cooked and laying around before it found it's way on to my plate. It was dry and part of it looked discolored from reheating. Needless to say I left the majority of my plate untouched. To top it off, there was a toddler having a total meltdown and some serious family drama happening at the table next to us. Not that that is in any way the restaurant's fault but it made the whole experience just suck that much more. So instead of saying anything about the meal, we just wanted to get the Fffff out of there as quickly as possible to get away from crying child. The drinks are still delicious though they have definitely upped their prices but so has almost everyone else. But for almost $60 (including tip) for lunch for ONE PERSON for the quality of food that was served to us...it's a nope for me. read more

I really like this sushi spot. Their outdoor seating is spacious and covered, and fenced, so it feels quaint and comfy. Their sushi is really, really good, and the service is also good. Lucky AF is a cool spot in Scotts Addition, located next door to The Circuit bar and arcade, and across from Strangeways Brewing so there's a lot to do and enjoy in that one block. I've only ordered takeout, and if they're super busy, you may have to go in to order because they won't answer the phone. Once you're in, don't expect Southern Charm customer service. They'll take your order but with no frills. Seems like most who work there are super chill and laid back. My order was ready right when they said it would be. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki, OG Cali sushi roll, edamame, and Sesame Chicken. Both meals come with ginger salad and miso soup. It was packed up well and nothing was missed. Home, we enjoyed everything, especially the Teriyaki Chicken. My kids love miso soup but this one fell short. The broth wasn't as flavorful as we expected. Each item was well seasoned. And the edamame was just as good for leftovers the next day. Although the food is good, I can tell from being inside waiting on my order, that the best experience is to dine in so you can also enjoy the cool vibe Lucky AF offers. I came thinking I'd be bringing guests back but I don't feel the need to do so after eating here or even returning myself. I got the shrimp and veggie bento box and it was really mediocre. The ginger dressing on the salad was like sweet mush and no ginger zing. The fried rice tasted like nothing. I make better fried rice at home and I'm not even a fried rice expert. GET THE TINA ROLL Tonight was our first night at Lucky AF. It was comforting that they were taking all of the necessary precautions to stay within COVID era guidelines for dining. Our shrimp spring rolls were sooooo good, super tasty and served hot. We had a handful of other items, but hands down the best thing was the "Tina Roll." You have to try this sushi roll if you come here!!! It's the perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and crunchy. Honestly one of the best rolls I have ever had in my life. Also a big shoutout to our bartender Larry; he was serving us up delicious cocktails very quickly despite being very busy at the bar.
