This was a cute spot! We stopped in for afternoon coffee. There was a short line that moved quickly. There's some seating inside and outside but it's limited. I got an iced salted caramel latte- it was okay. The coffee my friend got was well done, so they do have some good options. The service was so friendly and the staff were really helpful. Absolutely a gem. And I think the only legit coffee house on the island (and no I do not include Starbucks in that assessment). It's off the main drag, and there was a line out the door, but the staff were kind and quick and so efficient. I got a drip and a pour over and both were excellent. My kids got various drinks. Chai and caramel and vanilla drinks. They all loved them. My youngest even got a mango smoothie and she loved it. There's a little seating inside but better to walk a couple min down the street and enjoy your coffee in the park. read more

Three stars for the black coffee, and five stars for the hot chocolate. My child wanted a hot chocolate, and fortunately, Lucky Bean has a kid-sized cup. (It's not on the menu, but they do have a size smaller than 12 ounces -- just ask.) When the people behind the counter learned that the hot chocolate was for a child, these considerate people took the extra step to make the drink a little cooler in temperature than normal. And I didn't even have to ask! Because, you know, kids can't tolerate any type of food or drink that isn't tepid. I appreciated that thoughtfulness! I ordered a black coffee, and unfortunately, I didn't like it at all. It tasted burnt and like hot prune juice -- just not good. I'm sure the coffee tastes good in drinks with milk and sugar in them, but as a black coffee drinker, the black coffee needs to stand on its own. Lucky Bean is located off the main drag, in a cute little neighborhood. The inside of the coffee shop is tight -- there is barstool seating by the window, but mostly, this is a to-go coffee shop. Had to come here twice on my trip! They were sold out of bagels both days, so either they were out all weekend or you have to come earlier than we did! Both times we just got frozen mochas instead which were delicious. For the amount of people, service was fairly quick. Not a lot of places to sit, so just grab your coffee and head to the park! read more

What a lovely little local coffee shop tucked away on Market Street! Ever since *that* major coffee chain opened on Main Street a few years ago, the number of local coffee shops on Mackinac Island has shrunk from 7 to 2 (so says a local), so while it's tempting to get something familiar, there's no better time than on vacation to try something new! Plus, the locals love Lucky Bean, and you can't go wrong with a place that gets their stamp of approval. LB is a small shop with limited seating and standing room. In preparing for our vacation to Mackinac Island, the first thing I bookmarked on Yelp was this spot--because good vacation coffee is a must. Came here on our first morning on island and we were so happy we did. It's not on the main street, but only a block or so off of it. It was filled with locals. I took it as a sign it was going to be good. It was. I ordered their Miel, which was a honey latte with the loveliest hint of cinnamon. My husband got their lavender latte, which was one of the better lavender lattes I've ever had (I tried it). It was a delight. The service was friendly. I got the caramel sea salt and not bad. One of the better cups of coffee I've had while in Michigan on a road trip with a decent roast to it and flavor. The only thing I wish I did different was to get it hot instead of iced to blend the flavors more. My wife got the sugar loaf hot and it was banging. One of the best places to get coffee on Mackinac island! It is on the street right behind the Main Street, so sometimes it is less busy than others, but it is pretty well known. It is small, but cozy inside. They have some house drinks, but you can also get standard ones. I would come here every day if I could! read more

I've heard such good things about Lucky Bean and finally was able to stop in during my last trip! Due to Covid-19 they only allow a small few into the coffeehouse at one time. No big deal! They have a menu outside of the door, as well as one inside the shop. Because it was chilly during my trip I really wanted something hot. Although nothing on the menu said they offer iced drinks or blended drinks. I'm sure they do! I opted for the Caramel Sea Salt latte. Very warm and tasty! The flavor was amazing! Perfect for keeping you warm during an early morning hike. The customer service was outstanding. You simply order inside and a kind employee brought it outside to you. The also sell their own merchandise, which consisted of mugs and sweatshirts. Very cute. I will be back next year! read more

Loved this hidden gem off of the main strip on Mackinaw Island! It was a rather cold May day and we were looking for a hot drink to sip and hold in our hands while we walked around the island and this was the perfect place! The service was excellent and fast! We wanted some coffee for our early morning bike ride and wanted to try something different than Starbucks. Lucky Bean was the first recommended place, and it was about a 5-10 minute wait, but worth it! The barista was very helpful helping us figure out what to try. I had the Betty White, which is white mocha and rum flavor. Not too sweet, just the perfect coffee drink without being too sugary or too bitter! My brothers tried the chai tea and a regular latte with rum flavor and they were both good too! Cute little place to sit outside without being on the Main Street. read more

What can I say, I've been coming to this coffee house for over 10 years and I'm absolutely in love with it. From the different and unique variety of coffee drinks, to just plain bean drip coffee, It's all amazing! Each day I try to get a different coffee and all of them have been top-notch. This is probably the best coffee house I've ever been to in the United States. This review is made purely over hot cocoa. This hot chocolate is bland and lacking in any sweetness and chocolateness and is probably not made with milk. And altho the service was fast and the atmosphere cozy the hot chocolate was very mid. read more

I have been here multiple times and this past weekend had a great experience. The guy working the register was very friendly and there wasn't a line when I went. I did go middle of the day around 12:30pm. My coffee was good, this place is small so you mainly grab your coffee and go (which works for me) Overall I really like this place, the coffee is a little pricy but that's just how the Island is in general! read more

Came here for a coffee after biking around the island around 9 am. I got the iced honey rosemary lavender latte and it was DELICIOUS. My mom got just a regular cold brew and said it was very good. Even as early as 9, the place was PACKED. However, they were a well-oiled machine in terms of efficiency. Everyone working was very nice and the drinks came out relatively quickly considering how busy it was. I would highly recommend this coffee shop. read more

My husband and I stopped into the Lucky Bean for coffee one morning. It was delicious and the staff were super friendly. It was our first trip to Mackinac Island and we really had no plans for the day. The barista gave us a great recommendation for a hike. A middle aged, medium height, average sized, medium blonde haired woman with large earrings, anxious eyes, and a false smile... she was quick to come over and quick to ignore me. She made minimal eye contact, turned her body away from me, and proceeded to pick up plates before I had finished my sentence. She turned her body away before I was done speaking. As soon as she felt I had spoken long enough, she left. It was a strange experience for an otherwise pleasant meal. If I lived closer, I'd likely choose somewhere else for future breakfasts. When management isn't interested in doing their job, service tends to follow. It's too bad. If only she had managed to stand still, face me, and listen... I might have given this a five star review.

Doud's is a small market, but it has lots of stuff. As far as I know, this is one of the only markets on Mackinac Island. There actually is another Doud's down Main Street toward the ferry area, but it's a smaller grab-and-go convenience store, mostly with snacks and coffee. My hotel was right across the street, so I bopped into Doud's a couple of times during my stay, to grab a bottle of wine (they have a decent selection of wine), some candy for my kids, and some fruit because I needed to eat something fresh. The store is tidy and everything is arranged nicely. They also have self-checkout kiosks, so you can get in and out quickly.

I will happily admit we were very wrong. Les Cheneaux opened their new building, right on the water, in January. It is beautiful; warm, spacious, contemporary and inviting. Plenty of room to sit, relax and gather with friends. And their deck. Wow. Beautiful waterfront views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Felt right at home. We ordered 16 oz mochas in mugs. They were steamy hot, creamy and beautiful. The taste was rich and smooth without being too sweet; just the way we like them. After viewing another customer's breakfast burrito, we decided to each try them. The food menu is limited to bagels, bagel egg sandwiches and burritos. We had the chorizo egg burrito with potatoes. It was excellent. With a small park next door, a library across the street and plenty of room to stretch your legs and walk along the water's edge, this cafe is a winner. We are already planning a return visit that will include daily visits to Lesl Cheneaux Coffee Roasters. Next trip, we will purchase beans and bring the good flavors home with us.
