Food and drinks were fine. Service was decent considering they were constantly packed... however they messed up every one of our orders! My husband asked for triple cream, triple sugar in his coffee but got no sugar. I asked for my cream on the side of my coffee but she added it already... and my daughter asked for the Pink Drink and a muffin and got neither. We didn't get a receipt and had to go back and ask for our items. Luckily she remembered that we did order them, or she saw it on the order history ??? Anyway, we didn't have to prove we ordered and paid for it so that was good. But also, the only senior Employee among teenage staff, was NOT wearing a mask. And none of them would be likely to tell her that she has to... and she's making drinks. Luckily she didn't make ours... and ok, many of us are getting vaccinated and as a society we're pushing to get things back to the pre-mask days, but we're not quite there, and I for one have been vaccinated, but I also realize that others don't know that, so I mask for their comfort, despite compromising my own. If I owned or managed a shop during this time, and my employees wanted to serve food while being unmasked, I'd post a sign or have them wear a sticker stating they have been vaccinated. *SHRUGS* Cuz this is NOT yet behind us. read more

Poor customer service. I asked for no foam on my latte and got major attitude including an eye roll bc she had to take 10 steps to get a spoon. I thanked her twice and got the same attitude. After all of that my husband and I both ended up throwing the drinks away because it didn't taste good. Every other place we've visited has been excellent customer service. read more

The package we had when staying at the Island provided us complimentary drinks at Starbucks. I was a bit nervous about this location since one - it is the only Starbucks on the Island and two - a lot of the not so great reviews from Yelp. We went to this Starbucks early morning on a Saturday. I say early morning because this was long before the swarm of people came to visit the Island. This may have been a reason on why my experience here was not like the others? Anyways the store is easy to get to since it is right in the town area. The decor is usual Starbucks but felt open and airy - a little too open and airy as others have said there is not many spaces to sit down. But when you are on Mackinac Island do you really want to sit in a Starbucks?! Seating is pretty much bar top along the walls of the store. Store was clean and there was 2 or 3 workers. There was a little bit of a line but it gave us time to figure out what we wanted. Customer service was friendly and helpful. A bit of a wait for our drinks but nothing terrible and our orders were right and yummy. Enjoyed our coffees by walking around town before the fudgies all invaded. read more

I stopped in briefly before hopping on a ferry one evening in late summer to grab a coffee and do a few work-related things. It was a mixed experience. The line went fast and my drink was delicious, but there was no way I was getting work done. This location is meant for grabbing a quick coffee amongst crowds, not for working, for chatting, or any sort of loitering. There wasn't really a place to sit comfortable and it was very busy. They will make you a delicious drink but do not plan on using the restaurant for anything else. read more

Coming from Seattle, I've been in my fair share of Starbucks. This one is definitely a novelty location for Starbucks being the only chain restaurant on the island. The barista training is minimal, even standard coffee vernacular can trip them up, and you will have to explain what you are ordering including the basics like Venti or Grande on sizes. There really aren't any seats or tables inside to enjoy a coffee or do work like a normal Starbucks has. This is a stand in line for your caffeine fix and leave as soon as it is passed to you kind of place. The coffee is a limited selection for the standard roast most Starbucks carry. They also have beans available for those that want to make their own while on the island. Getting them ground can take a bit though during busy times. I personally prefer the Lucky Bean as a local alternative with better coffee in my opinion. read more

Meh! Normally, I wouldn't patronize a chain franchise with several novelty coffee shops in the immediate area, but I had a gift card to burn so I chose Starbucks. When I ordered my first Venti frap I was told they ran out of Venti cups so I'd have to settle for a Grande, leaving my wife 4 fl. oz. short of her desired refreshment. (The cashier should have offered the Venti portion in two cups but in her defense I didn't think of that either until I already paid.) They were also out of the strawberry base needed to make my strawberry frap so I had to settle for a secondary option. As one of their featured items, a surplus of the stock should have been on hand. Lastly, when I got my fraps, they were both considerably more watery than I am accustomed to. The water downed nature of the fraps really diminished the flavor impact and I should have returned them but my kids said they tasted fine (immature taste buds) so I let them have them and avoided the hassle of the return. As I write this review two hours later, I regret my decision to not return the subpar fraps but realize dwelling on the past won't bring future improvements so I'm putting the experience behind me and will use it as a tool for betterment. read more

As all Starbucks, they have wifi. It seems like everyone is using it since it took quite a while to get connected and it wasn't very fast. The coffee is like you expect at any Starbucks. The service level wasn't as good as I'm accustomed to when I go to Starbucks. You didn't feel welcomed but at least I got the coffee I came here for. read more

Well. Just got off the ferry and needed a coffee. In my search for a coffee cafe there was Starbucks. So I went in a grabbed a Grande Coffee and went on my way to explore the Island. Suddenly I realized, I'm on Mackinac Island. If I could I'd give this Starbucks "ZERO" stars. It's doesn't belong on Mackinac Island period. There were 2 great mom and pop coffee houses on the island that everyone loved. Both are gone now. Sad. Large franchise companies should never be allowed here. Moreover, it shows that the families that own most of the businesses on the island can push the city counsel members (puppets) around at their leisure. Same coffee as every other Starbucks, which I like , which is why I even gave it two stars. Otherwise disappointing. Service was terrible; indifferent and downright rude. And they got my drink wrong....on an otherwise empty morning. I feel a little guilty for frequenting the one chain store on this otherwise 'locally owned' island. But it was the only place to get to go coffee before my 9am ferry. Sigh.....I think I understand why there were locals upset about Starbucks moving in. This was a nice spot to grab a coffee & catch up on some work on my laptop during a business trip. It's right by the ferry docks & easy to next to a fudge shop that's across the street from a fudge shop, next to another fudge shop. They say you attract more flies with honey than vinegar. You can attract the most, though, with horse poop. Mackinaw Island is the Michigan horse poop capital, which means flies. Lots of flies. I'm guessing there's no a/c, but the open doors to the street create a serious fly problem inside. Occupational hazard here, I guess, but really the only down side about this spot. read more

Maybe Starbucks should focus on customer service at this location because it was terrible. Ask for something to be left out of the drink and it goes unnoticed. When you put nasty caramel drizzle on like a waterfall, especially in a cold drink, it sinks to the bottom and is pointless. Jackass that made it was rude and walked away. I was very disappointed to see the health violations at this establishment. The worker that was taking money, was also filling out the information on the cup. No gloves, and dirty hand right over the rim of the cup. Another worker did not have nose in mask. After waiting in line and observing this I left. I visited the island this summer with my two kids and this was the place we picked after cycling around the entire Island. It was a familiar face - we knew what they offered and what the prices would be. My little boy got his beloved apple juice and my tween and I got our favorite frappacinos, along with (what passes as) scones and a brownie to share. We copped the seats in the corner and used their clean restroom. Having lived on the Island for 6 months in my younger years, we ate supper back in St. Ignace. The Starbucks on Mackinac Island is a great place to go when in need of an early morning coffee or just a simple indulgence. The workers are efficient and polite, rarely messing up an order. They have a nice interior design, which seems to have been newly renovated. I can see the prejudice people would have against such a popular chain, but honestly there is a reason it is so popular. Starbucks holds their workers to high standards, and their shop on Mackinac Island is no exception. Hope you enjoy. It's weird that there is a Starbucks on Mackinac Island. But don't be a hater! It's still the best coffee and tea on the island by far (and yes we did try nearly everywhere). It's pretty bare bones inside and the service was friendly but oh so slow. At least my wife had her dark roast and I got a decent chai latte. The baked goods were nearly non existent and I didn't dare inquire about almond milk. But each morning people were lined up for their familiar cup of joe. It was not cash only like another reviewer thought. They'll gladly even take your Starbucks gold card. Don't worry people, I'm sure chains will not be invading your island any time soon. This particular one, however, doesn't seem to need your approval. They are doing just fine. And it was a welcome sight after some mediocre morning cups on Mackinac Island. read more

Felt a little out of place on the island but at least they tried to fit in. I was a bit embarrassed getting Starbucks while on Mackinac Island but it was so cold in early May and we needed a warm beverage. But mostly we needed a place to sit indoor. The only seating in town seems to be benches outside so it was nice to sit inside Starbucks to warm up between shops. They only have 3 tables but luckily it wasn't crowded. And it's pretty much the only free wifi in town. Service and drinks were standard like any other Starbucks. Nothing special. Everyone on the island had a Starbucks cup in hand so clearly they are doing well. read more
