Ordered delivery and it arrived hot which is a huge plus. The okonomiyaki is tasty and the ramen is tasty as well.

Next time don't go here on a Friday during lent. I wish I coulda had the meat! Would have been great! I got the vegetable broth instead. Still liked it a lot (and my scale liked it too). They made sure we always had water.

Aesthetic: Upbeat, modern Izakaya What to try: Takoyaki Service: Attentive Parking: None Rating: 4/5, we had a lot of fun here and the food was delicious! We tried plenty of shared appetizers, with the takoyaki being one of the favorites. The okonomiyaki was also a favorite! The only reason for a star off is because it was blazing hot in there, it's hard to have fun when the heat is pumping too high. I drank a million glasses of water!

1st time patron. Came here on Friday at 6ish without reservations. Without reservations, we were lucky that bar seats were available. Underneath the bar, there are hooks and on the walls, there are coat hooks. I need hooks to confortably dine. Sitting at the bar, I saw and heard the bartender shake up several colorful cocktails. The front door greeter, bartenders and other staff are polite and friendly. We ordered the blistered shishito peppers, okonomiyaki and the creamy udon. Also, we drank Asahi and Sapporo. Unfortunately, the food did not fill me up. In hindsight , the okonomiyaki was covered in sauce and had little sustenance. The cream of udon was like a hug. The shishito peppers had a tiny bite and perfectly charred. 2 bathrooms in the hallway. I'd come back to Lucky Cat. Table seating and bar seating are all comfortable, seats have a back. It offers a variety of foods, beer, cocktails and sake cold and hot. Make reservations if you prefer a table.

This is a nice place to get drinks with friends. We were able to get a same day table for 6 people fairly easily. I really liked my yuzu shio ramen with chicken broth. The broth was nicely flavored and light, and I prefer the thin noodles. The spinach was a nice touch and the pork pieces were not too fatty. Their appetizers were also good, including the tako wasabi and some kind of fried cheese dumpling--and the okonomiyaki was the bomb. I didn't try the fried chicken katsu which my husband said was just okay. They have a bunch of cool cocktails on the menu that were anime themed. Service was a little slow/hard to hail, and everyone's entrees came out very spaced out, so some of us were eating and others went hungry for a while.

Cozy spot and the staff was great. A friend and I walked in on a weekday evening and were seated right away. The tom yum dumplings, which were a special, were so yummy and spicy! We also loved the chicken ramen and lucky cat ramen. They were so comforting and the broth was great on both. I'd definitely come back for more ramen and to try other menu items.

    Yuzu Shio Ramen ($18)

I was in the mood for some ramen and was looking for a place nearby for some late night eats. I love a good Yuzu Shio ramen and found Lucky Cat on Yelp. I visited Lucky Cat a little after 10pm on a weeknight. I was able to get squeezed in at one of the last seats at the bar. Sitting at the bar, service was minimal (standard bar service). Food was brought out quickly, but I thought the Yuzu Shio ramen ($18) was just okay. While there are yuzu peels in the broth, the yuzu flavor didn't really pack a punch. They also use thin noodles which didn't absorb a lot of flavor from the broth. The bowl did include two hefty pieces of chashu and the egg was perfectly cooked. Spinach, menma (bamboo shoots), and a generous amount of scallions were also included. The place was pretty happening on a Thursday night. The late night hours (open until 2am) definitely contribute to that. Decor is kitschy. They have a giant lucky cat in the back and a tv playing Asian movies behind the bar, surrounded by stacks of DVDs. Maybe the small plates are a better choice at this izakaya; my ramen dish was a bit meh.

The food is amazing. The staff is friendly. This place is perfect. I highly recommend.

I came here for dinner with one of my girl friends and we had a great time. This Japanese izakaya is a great spot for dinner with friends or a date night. The interior is thoughtfully curated and there's so much fun decor. Service here is very nice, but not THAT attentive and a bit spotty (it took over 10 minutes for us to get our order in, and our water was often empty). Their menu has a variety of Japanese appetizers, ramen, rice dishes, sushi, and even nabe! My friend and I got their sukiyaki curry rice and their omusoba. Both were so flavorful and delicious! The prices are great and portions are huge. Great spot for affordable Japanese food, and open until 2am!

Food: AMAZING! I got the Lucky Cat as my order, and it was the best ramen I have ever had. Service: Great. Nice and helpful. Ambiance: Dim, relaxed, and a nice break from all the lights around NYC.

First time, great experience. Place is quaint with still a number of tables. Almost like a bar and mess hall feel. The menu is quite extensive and has a variety of options for any palate. Being open until 2am especially serving Ramen you're going places! I had the chicken ramen, the only thing is you're not really allowed to swap broths or substitute any of the toppings already offered but you can add them. The drink menu has a lot to offer. I went with the Peach One and I wasn't disappointed at all. For a ramen spot the bare tee presentation was also very classy!

Overall think this is a nice place to go if you want to go with a huge group of people and enjoy a late night bite together Decor is super cute and looks like a Japanese pub However was not a fan of some of the food items. Fish for the sushi did not taste as fresh but it still does the job Udon was tasty but also has more of a pub feel and didn't taste like fresh udon which is fine because it's meant to be pub style but just keep this in mind!

There was nothing on that menu that let us down. We started with two Calpico sodas, which are always a solid choice. My wife had the Omu Soba and loved it. I went with the Tonkatsu Ramen and that dish was everything. Rich, satisfying, the kind of bowl you do not want to end. We also shared the Kalbi, which are Korean short ribs, and they were outstanding. All three of us were on the same page about those. My son added two salmon tacos to the mix. He enjoyed them but said they did not hit quite as hard as his Mew Special Roll, which was clearly the standout of his night. It features raw tuna and what I believe is a combination of salmon and seared salmon on top. Either way, that sear flavor is really good. Worth trying if you get the chance. The space was lively and busy, which gave it a great energy. We ended up at a long communal table with another couple, but it never felt cramped or uncomfortable. There was enough room to breathe and enjoy the meal. My son mentioned his back felt a little tight from the seating, but that was a minor thing in an otherwise great night. Izakaya Mew delivered on every level. Great food, great atmosphere, and a dinner I am already looking forward to repeating

The creamy kimchi udon was ok. It didn't feel like one dish, but tasted good. The una don was great. Good sauce and blend of supporting veggies to enhance the taste. Service was super quick. Everything was rapid fire: order taken, food comes out quick, water gets replinished before asking, plates are taken the moment they are finished, and check comes immediately after asking for it. Interior was cramped and loud. Really fitting as many tables as they can in the space. I saw others mentioning to make reservations. I went without one and got lucky. There was a table opening 30 minutes out. Would recommend having one, but you can definitely try walking in. First come first serve basis Overall, solid spot for great tasting food. Great for smaller parties of 2, but expect it to be tight with spacing

Half of their menu is vegan-friendly. Spoiler alert: they will open a permanent location in June/July! *Chicken Karaage*** This chicken karaage was TO DIE FOR -- the caramelized sugar lemon on the side took it to a whole new level. The boneless chicken was so tender and juicy with a thin deep-fried batter. The meat was extremely refreshing after squeezing the lemon and dipping in honey mustard sauce. * Handrolls - Salmon Yuzu, Tuna, Yellowtail** Y'all need to order their handrolls! The sashimi piece was thick and long enough to cover the vinegar rice. It would be a pain to pick which handroll I like more. They layered up the flavors of each piece with house sauces, shiso leaf, fried leek, avocado etc. Wish they would add a handroll set in the future. *Pork Cutlet Curry The curry was a blend of shredded meat, mashed potatoes, tomatoes and grapes (yes grapes!). The pork loin cutlets were crispy and not heavily breaded. The meat was a bit dry, yet it was cut in thin slices so it didn't bother me much. I found the multigrain rice even more enjoyable than white rice with its crunchiness. *Matcha Crème Brûlée** WE LOVED THIS. Matcha flavor is strong. The caramelized top and creamy matcha custard complemented really well. Trust me, their crème brûlée is the best dessert to finish off your meal. *Vegan Matcha Cheesecake This cheesecake was homey and light. Matcha flavor was tasteable but not very strong. The raspberry compote added a nice touch to it. I liked the crunchy biscuit layer on the bottom. *Yuzu White Peach Sparkling *Virgin Green Tea Mojito Their Japanese-inspired mocktails were great and not too sweet (very rare for mocktails). Very refreshing to drink along with your meal.

Starting off with the Agedashi Tofu: Three pieces of tofu in tsuyu sauce. Light and crispy, with a savory but not too salty broth. It came with fried enoki mushrooms. Some grated radish would've been a nice touch. Chicken Karaage: This was my personal favorite. The chicken pieces were tender and juicy, while crispy on the outside. The portion came with a decent amount of chicken which was shareable between three. Shoyu Ramen: Not a standout dish, but seeing as it's not specifically a ramen restaurant, it was standard! Not amazing but not bad. Pork Cutlet Curry: As someone who loves Japanese curry, this hit the spot! Warm flavorful curry with crispy tonkatsu. However, I think it would taste better served with fluffy white rice! Also I think it was served with a side of grapes which was seemed odd unless it's a new food trend I'm unaware of. Overall, would definitely come back! They seem to do fried foods well, hopefully they can introduce tempura or a katsu sando would be amazing.

The restaurant was full at the counter however only a few tables in the back. Our server was often always standing next to our table, attentive and observant with our needs. I really liked that we had the option to get as many omakases as we wanted and/or order as many a la carte menu items. Many Japanese omakase restaurants do not allow this! And I never understood this either. We ordered 3 omakases to share amongst 2 people, and then a ton of a la carte dishes to share. Which were such a beautiful compliment to our omakase dishes. We got the "O" which was a 9 course meal with some cooked and raw options. From the a la carte menu, we ordered the chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, hamachi kama, clay pot rice with salmon and roe, sukiyaki noodles, 2 different rolls (tuna and salmon) and of course the uni taster (which were 3 different kinds of sushi from California and 2 from Hokkaido). The agedashi tofu was the worst amongst our group for a weird texture, definitely did not feel like tofu. The best dishes were the uni taster, chicken karraage, and hamachi kama all from the a la carte menu. And from the omakase, definitely the sushi platter (which were 10 pieces of sushi) and the soba noodles were so amazing! The sushi rice here were so delicious! This is how you can tell a authentic sushi restaurant vs not. Overall, definitely recommend and absolutely order a la carte to get a full tasting of the dishes.
