I came across Aji Sushi while wandering around Midtown looking for lunch. It was pretty busy during the lunch rush, with a short wait, but the turnover seemed quick. I decided to do takeout instead, which was easy enough. I ordered the shrimp teriyaki bento box from the lunch menu. It came with salad and dressing, a California roll, and rice. The meal was just okay. It was nothing that really stood out, and not something I'd go out of my way to order again. One thing to note: they charge extra for hot sauce, so I was glad I had my own stash back at the office. This is the sushi deluxe for $26 you get nine pieces of nigiri and a tuna avocado roll. This was about as fine as fine can be. Nothing wrong here at all. It's not expensive so you know you're going to get a lot of white fish was happy to get some quality salmon and tuna. Nothing special though obviously. And you probably shouldn't expect that at this price point, Roll was fine. Pieces were actually well sized, the rice was warm and well seasoned. Their ponzu sauce was delicious as was their miso soup. But this ain't going to blow anyone away and if you're looking for special this may fall flat for you if you're literally just looking for some affordable quality nigiri you won't go wrong here. read more

Mine was $18.50 and it came with a side of salad or miso soup. The dressing was okay on my salad. I don't like when restaurants make rolls with a thick rice layer. At Aji, my friend and I both commented how the rice to ingredient ratio was good as the rolls had a thin layer of rice. The fish was pretty fresh and I think the portion size was appropriate since I was satiated but not stuffed. We were seated by the window which is a cute little section of the restaurant. The seating can be a bit tight as the tables are a bit close together. Around the time we went, they got people in and out pretty quickly so I'd say it's a pretty good lunch spot. read more

I will NEVER order from here again! Food is okay - no complaints - and delivery is fast and friendly. Totally good. Tonight i ordered and got email conformations but after 30- 40 min no delivery so called to see what was up. Had to leave a msg - no call back. At the 1 hr mark i called again and no answer - not even the machine. I called the delivery platform (door dash) and was told my order had been cancelled! Something wrong in payment system. This woman who runs the place had not bothered to let me know she cancelled my order - i could have given her a card number over the phone - but no, she was fine with my sitting and waiting for an hour for food that was not coming. The restaurant got paid and she hadn't bothered to refund the money either. Door Dash customer service did that for me. With many other restaurants around - including Japanese - there is absolutely NO REASON TO EVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN. read more

For several years Aji used to be my "go to" sushi place for takeout until recently. The food used to be consistent good and reasonably priced. Last few of times we ordered from there the spicy tuna rolls were rancid and inedible. We always order the same thing, so we do know what to expect. The last few times we ordered the spicy tuna rolls had a rotten and overpowering fishy taste where we had to spit it out and throw it away. I called the restaurant to complain about it and the man who answered apologized and said he would refund us the price of the rolls. He never did. I then ordered a littany of veggie rolls (I'm veg) and would HIGHLY recommend the futomaki. It's so well balanced, texturally amazing, large, compact, well-presented, probably one of the best futos I've had. The other veggie rolls were very good too, but I give the nod to the futomaki! I did the lunch special; 3 rolls for $15. I ordered a Salmon Avocado roll, Spicy Crunchy Tuna roll, and a Shrimp Tempura roll. Nothing was out of the ordinary and subpar. This is your average takeout sushi at a very affordable price. I enjoyed the decent amounts of protein that is packed in each roll. My only issues are the shrimp tempura and the sushi rice. The tempura was not crispy at all. It was as if it was cooked hours prior and was just reheated in the microwave for my order. The sushi rice was just plain rice.
