    Any 3 Rolls
    Paul K.

I've been to this place multiple times. There lunch deals are great for the area. I always find the 3 roll set a great bang for buck to share with people. The bentos are also quite filling. It gets crowded really quickly so you might want to try to get there quickly.

One of the few places open after 9 pm that served sushi close to my hotel. The ambience is very pleasant and comfortable, which made me feel relaxed after a long day over hot tea and not a drink. I ordered one of the chef special rolls and the sushi was super fresh in a mouth watering combination of tastes and textures. I really enjoyed it.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Friendly staff, patient and accommodating. Very well priced items and was a great way to end our evening.

    Sashimi Dinner

Ordered delivery from here - pretty good but not great. The sashimi platter was a great portion for the price. The fish was fresh but not super flavorful, and I found a small piece of plastic on one of the pieces. The seaweed salad was pretty good but nothing special.

Aji sushi is a great neighborhood restaurant. I've enjoyed the sushi, especially the spider roll ( soft shell crab roll) with spicy mayo sauce. Also, service is friendly in house dining and also very good delivery ( ahead of estimated delivery time) . Nice portions for prices.

    4. Aji Special Lunch in front and 1. Bento Box Lunch Special in the back

Came here for lunch since I was in the area for coffee. Turns out they have great lunch specials. My friend got their chicken katsu bento boxes and I got their Aji Special. Mine was $18.50 and it came with a side of salad or miso soup. The dressing was okay on my salad. I don't like when restaurants make rolls with a thick rice layer. At Aji, my friend and I both commented how the rice to ingredient ratio was good as the rolls had a thin layer of rice. The fish was pretty fresh and I think the portion size was appropriate since I was satiated but not stuffed. We were seated by the window which is a cute little section of the restaurant. The seating can be a bit tight as the tables are a bit close together. Around the time we went, they got people in and out pretty quickly so I'd say it's a pretty good lunch spot.

Love their two roll special for lunch. Great price and with a choice of a salad or miso soup.

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.

I got back from Japan 3 weeks ago, and the abundant access to high level Katsu ruined me. I can only equate it to growing up on Dominos Pizza, and then you have that first real quality brick oven pizza and you're like "oh there are really levels to this..." It takes a piece of your innocence that you will never get back. Big bro put a hand on my shoulder and said, "Lil Bro, I've already walked a mile in these shoes. We are going to Katsu-Hama." Next thing I know, we are on 47th street walking into what I can only describe as a wormhole straight to a restaurant in the bustling streets of Tokyo. We ordered the Berkshire Pork Loin Curry, with an extra cutlet each because we are big dawgs. Upon first bite, hope was restored. I could breath again. Beneath delicate crackles of the crisp golden shell, the pork was impossibly tender. The curry came in over the top with a gentle sweetness and depth to tie it all together. I hate to be a prisoner of the moment, but this was just as good, if not better, than any katsu I had in Japan. I've been 3 times in the past week, and Katsu-Hama is currently my favorite restaurant in New York City. SHOUTOUT TO MY BIG BRO! IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

We tried Suntory draft beer since that was the only draft they had, which was odd since most Japanese places carry Asahi/Sapporo, definitely not as light as the other two beers I'm used to. The tuna from the bone is the most famous dish here, but I was not able to get it as they sell out very fast. But I tried the sashimi and it was high quality -- just that it was not enough food for me. But that makes it more in line with portions back in Japan.
