Lucky Moving is by far one of the best moving companies in SF. Linda's team is beyond impressive & hardworking. They made my entire moving experience seamless and stress-free. They arrived 5 minutes earlier, navigated parking safely (I don't have a parking spot so they were able to double park safely and worked with my neighbors to ensure no one was blocked in), and worked the entire time with no breaks. They packaged and wrapped everything carefully and were able to move up and down 3 flights of stairs and through narrow hallways in my apartment. They even disassembled and reassembled my bed in less than 10 minutes. I was moved out and into my new apartment in less than 3 hours. No damages at all. I was extremely anxious finding a reliable moving company in SF, and Lucky Moving made everything so easy. The Li brothers and another mover (Liu) were such a delight to work with. They're professional, efficient, and patient. We had so many stairs at the first apartment and they didn't complain once. All of our stuff was wrapped nicely and moved with a lot of attention to detail. Given how much stuff we had, I really appreciated how quickly they were able to disassemble items and pack them up. Not a great experience. We still have stuff left at our home because the moving team did not bring any boxes to pack anything in. Despite each truck being stocked with boxes. For whatever reason the truck that arrived had no boxes except for 4 wardrobe boxes. So we ran out of boxes and there are clothes left behind, kitchen items left behind, bathroom items, lamps, tv, free weights... etc. The moving truck left without us. Didn't do a walk through. They just took off and went to the new house. The workers were constantly yelling at each other and yelling on the phone with the manager. They mentioned how they are overworked and underpaid. I tipped these guys and even paid for their lunch because they didn't bother packing food. And they knocked our furniture around, didn't care if things were beat up or dented. When I handed them a tip they said they deserve more. I gave them $140 in tips. They only sent 2 guys and supposedly severely underestimated the timing of the move so it took twice as long and so I ended up paying $750 for a 1 bedroom move. (not including tip) All in all, I think they could improve. read more

They helped me and my partner move on two separate days (including one day in the rain) and we both had very positive experiences. They were very professional and also had great attitudes even though they were clearly working very hard. They did not complain at all even though we had many stairs to our new apartment. You sign the time when they show up and you sign the time when the last item is unloaded. (Not every company does this.) - Insured and provided their DOT number (Dept. of Transportation). -Communication was responsive (usually via text), and got a confirmation call the day before our scheduled move. - Two movers worked quickly. The right balance of friendly and focused on work. - Payment sent by Venmo. The rates are unbeatable so we wanted to make sure to tip our movers well to show our appreciation. Good price. Reasonable accommodations. Unfortunately there was an assembly piece of the job which may have been poorly executed. I knew they did not have experience with the exact fitness equipment but I took the chance as assembly was fairly simple and very well explained in instruction manual. I even found a 3-D interactive step by step guide/video for them to follow but they did not end up doing so... Machine squeaks when in use and it looks like they packed up the included tools along with extra parts the machine came with for purposes of assembly :( Though I am sure it was by accident, they took the necessary grease packet (equipment lubrication) --which was also included in the product's box-- This was after assuring me they already applied the grease when I saw the grease packet unopened on the floor as they were packing up their items. Finally, looks Like they put some critical washers in wrong places and did not bolt on 2 important belt brackets/clamps nor screw on (at least 2 other) bolt/screw washers at all (luckily they did leave the pieces I just mentioned behind) so I was able to manage. With some of my own tool-finding trial and error and some simple (but time-consuming ) disassembly, I was able to put the pieces they left behind (washers and screws +belt bracket/clamp) in the correct places and machine works smoother now though not to full capacity. I will have to hire a Fitness technician to inspect their work on the assembly as it still does not feel like the brand New machine it is. However, considering assembly is not their primary business and as movers, they were good; I would still recommend for moves/helping with heavy items. One of the guys was pretty rude but the other was very nice.... Owner was not apologetic about items/tools taken by movers. Upon my feedback, the company did not check with the movers about the tools and did not offer to return the special NordicTrack grease which was unused in the elliptical packaging but missing when they left my home. Movers reported they arrived several hours early for a precisely scheduled delivery yet were late for the pre-scheduled freight delivery Appointment because their mover truck was reportedly "still looking for parking" downtown at the time of our pre arranged delivery appointment. I would have given 3 stars but the unprofessionalism of the manager upon receiving my feedback coupled with not offering ANY resolution for missing items leads me to believe I should not have given this company the benefit of the doubt. read more

We've used the Lucky Moving company two years in a row and have been extremely satisfied. Excellent rates, movers are punctual and pretty quick with the move. We managed to move our 1 bedroom (+small office) in 4 hours total both times (including the 30 min drive). I usually have 90% of stuff packed and ready to go, but the movers arrive with wardrobe boxes where you can throw in hanging clothes and other loose items. If you need help packing in general, I think you need to let them know in advance so they bring more boxes. Linda, who coordinates the move is very helpful and efficient as well. Last year, our building wanted a certificate of insurance from the moving company last minute, and Linda provided that as soon as possible (whereas another company I was talking to said they wouldn't manage in time). Would use them again if we need to move and highly recommend to everyone else. read more

I moved earlier this month and have been debating if I should write this review or not, and after 3 weeks, I still feel bothered by my experience with Lucky Moving. The communications and coordination was excellent prior to the job and up until the day of before the movers arrived. Yelp response time is super quick and professional. The day of, they have someone reaching out to coordinate the move. Once the job started, it seemed okay at first, nothing abnormal. About 1.5-2 hours in, my fiancé and I got done packing the things we were working on and decided to start helping them wrap some furniture. We wrapped a few things and moved a few things out to the living area to make it easier for them to grab and go. We waited about ~15-20 mins before the movers came back up to our apartment unit (we live on the 4th floor and there's an elevator). They came back smelling like cigarette smoke. This was the start of my negative experience with Lucky Moving. We ended up deciding to leave a bunch of things behind for us to grab at another time since we were eager to just wrap up for the day. Our move is from Oakland to Santa Clara. The drive down took an hour due to Super Bowl traffic and the moving truck left about ~15 mins before we did and arrived in Santa Clara at the same time. They unpacked quickly leaving things wherever there was space. I was outside when I suddenly heard something falling down the outdoor staircase. One of the shelves from my CB2 Helix Desk was on the ground. When I picked it up it was all scratched up. I was going to sell this desk for $150 later that day. We went inside to further inspect the desk. The support of the desk comes from 2 metal poles with shelves attached and one of the screws for the shelf became completely unable to be reattached since it was yanked out. When the mover brought this piece of furniture up the stairs, he did not hold it evenly on both sides, instead he only held it by one pole --the uneven distribution of the weight caused the shelf to completely break off from the pole and bent everything out of place. I reached out to the rep on Yelp to explain what happened and that I would like $150 knocked off my total. Suddenly I wasn't receiving the quick response times I previously experienced even though it said that the message was read. When the job was finished we talked numbers and I had requested $150 to be deducted from the total (the original price of this desk was $300) and we had to communicate through google translate. I understood the gist of what the movers were trying to tell me, stating that this would come out of their own cuts and requested that I reduced the amount to $100. I reluctantly agreed because I felt bad. There was a bit of confusion on my part on how working hours was calculated so I ended up on the phone with the owner? In the end it was my misunderstanding and it sucked to pay $99 for the one hour they spent driving, but it is what it is. What I did NOT appreciate was the person on the phone yelling at me and cutting me off and accusing me of not wanting to pay before I could fully explain my side. In the end he did back off and apologized for any misunderstandings but it took him a minute to a return to a respectful tone. Transparently I did not tip the full amount that was requested from the quote ($10-$15 per hour per person) which would have been an additional $80-$120. The main reason is because I did not have enough change but I decided to not go out of my way to ensure the tip minimum was reached because: 1. My desk was damaged beyond repair 2. They broke a slat off my bed and just ripped it off and didnt say anything lol 3. They will force a dolly up the stairs even it doesnt make sense instead of carrying a box up with care. Things were banging and sliding and being forced 4. I already paid for their smoke break After the movers left I finally got a response from the Yelp Rep saying "If only the movers agree to it" lolll 4 hours later... Later in the week I saw additional damages to my bed frame :( Overall Im disappointed because despite all the great Yelp reviews, but I did not receive a positive experience. The point of hiring PROFESSIONALS is so that they can get the job done quickly and WELL. I would have been better off hiring some college kids. TLDR; The movers are no more well trained or experienced than your nephews and brothers that could help you move and Lucky Moving does not care about their movers or customers once the job begins and does not take any responsibility for anything as nothing that happens on moving day concerns them. read more

I engaged Lucky Movers to move a Costco spa crate from the curb to the backyard location. I gave them a rough estimate of the spa weight and they provided the price. I pointed out that the weight is actually unknown as the crate hasn't been delivered yet. They upped the estimate if the crate is heavier than expected but otherwise they were ok with that. Now there is one day until the spa is delivered and they refused to do the job because "their tools are broken". Leaving the whole thing about "broken tools" alone, where am I supposed to find the movers in 1 day time? They didn't provide any references, they didn't specify when they "fix" their tools. Lucky Moving was great! They were able to schedule my move with a week's notice. The price seemed to be cheaper than most of the other movers options. The 3 movers arrived 5 minutes before the appointment time and worked quickly. The truck was large with plenty of extra space and they did a good job of securing everything so it wouldn't move in the truck. Opon delivering the items to the destination, they rolled out a red carpet to keep the apartment clean. They were able to move large items up mutiple flights of stairs with no problem. The movers were able to communicate in english and mandarin chinese. The person in charge of setting up the appointment was quick to respond to all my messsages over yelp. I've never experienced someone arguing with me about tips before! I scheduled a 2-hour move with 3 movers. I sent them photos of my belongings and a list of items, and was told that 2 movers would suffice. However, I insisted on 3 movers to ensure the job would be completed within 2 hour. They ended up taking a total of 4 hours, including smoke breaks in between. At the very end, I gave them a $100 tip, but they demanded more and started arguing with me. There's no reason to argue about how much tip they should receive. It's either you take it or leave it. Very disappointed. read more

I had a wonderful experience with lucky moving today. They moved my stuff from my apartment to the upack depot in Oakland. They were fast, pleasant, and knowledgeable - they packed the cube perfectly and managed to get all my stuff in (I was worried I had too much stuff).
