My husband and I had been looking to landscape a small area at the front of our house for quite sometime. We finally just decided to go around to local nurseries and get some ideas about plants. Upon arriving at Lucky Plants, the owner Steve greeted us and asked if we needed help. We described our situation and that we really didn't have any knowledge about plants or landscaping. Steve not only helped us pick appropriate plants, but he and his team can do the landscaping as well. His estimate was extremely reasonable and they worked really fast. Within 4 days the entire area we wanted landscaped was transformed and completed. Even if you do not need landscaping services, Steve is very knowledgeable and Lucky Plants has a very good variety of plants. I would definitely recommend this nursery. read more

After spending a couple hundred dollars - came to find she simply takes nice pieces of plants and re-plants them without rooting them 1st. Most of my (different plants mind you) died in weeks. When I pulled them out to see what was going on - there weren't any roots in the plants ! Feel cheated. WON'T go back. read more

Stopped in today to pick up an indoor plant. Since I do not know much about plants, I found one of the salesmen and asked what would suit my needs. He was very knowledgeable and gave me a number of options. Upon checkout, I was surprised at how cheap the plant was as I saw the same thing in ralphs for nearly double what I got it for at Lucky Plants. The only experience I have had with this place did not go well. I asked one of the guys that works here how much one of their potted palms cost, while standing next to it and pointing to it, and he didn't understand what I was asking. He kept asking, "which one?" "this one?" (pointing to a different one), even though I was literally touching the one I was asking about. It was very weird and put me off of the whole place. I'm sure they have good prices, but I wouldn't trust someone who can't understand my very clear question and blatant gestures with my money. read more

I love this place. I come here every year to buy mom Orchids for Christmas and they have never once let me down. Their orchids flower for at least 6 months and are always top quality. I just called today to have one delivered to my mom for mother's day. the total cost for a high quality double stem orchid WITH tax and delivery came to $41. you will NEVER find a deal like that online or anywhere! read more

Although it may be a small nursery, they have a nice selection of both indoor and outdoor plants at good prices. We ended up getting a bougainvillea, and a thyme plant to add to my herb collection. They were extremely helpful in suggestions, showing us where certain plants were, and helping us pack and load the plants! First nursery in the area that stuffed and taped down newspaper over the soil in the pot so it wouldn't spill all over the car. I've driven by here so many times and not noticed it, but when I need plants again, I'll go here first! read more

I came here in search of roses on Mother's Day. Though that quest fell through, what I did find was enough to make up for it. Though modest in size, this nursery has a wide variety of drought friendly as well as tropical indoor plants all available for a reasonable price. I was told by the owner that the orchids I bought in mid-September would last 4 months. I was a little skeptical as I know plant quality can vary. But, 4 months later, they are just now starting to drop blossoms. I will definitely go back to Lucky to purchase new ones. read more

I live nearby and have shopped here on and off over the years. I recently have had two bad experiences. I purchased an indoor plant, which I did not know was sick and came back a couple of times with photos and asked for advice on how to heal it. The lady had no advice. When I came back with it dead I asked for my money back. She said that she does not guarantee the plants, and if I wanted a guarantee I should buy from Home Depot. Recently I bought a large glazed pot and saucer, as I will not buy plants there anymore. Well, the glaze was defective and the saucer leaked onto my rug, causing a ring stain. I showed photos and asked for my money back. The lady said that the saucer does not leak, and that all pots have "humidity" under them and this is normal. Her house is full of circles on the rugs and I was the first customer to care about circles on his rug. I explained that none of my other pots have "humidity" under them. She would not admit that the saucer was defective. She acted like she did not know what defective meant, but was certainly able to explain to me the concept of relative humidity. She would not give me my money back. She did, however, acquiesce to sell me a plastic additional saucer (at half price!) to put under the glazed one. This place has good prices and now I know why; substandard products that they do not stand behind. Knowing that, shop there at your own risk. read more

Great selection and great prices. It's a small family owned and operated nursery, so they are able to do things like - pot your plants containers (you bring in or buy there), load your car, put special arrangements together in a container (they did 3 different succulents in a couple of pots for me on the spot), deliver or even come by your house to look at your garden to offer suggestions....all free of charge. They are Korean and I believe English is their second language, but I've always gotten all my questions answered. Sorry Melanie M. seemed to have a problem with a man there, might have been the couples father, who speaks even less English. Overall a great selection, friendly service and good prices. read more

This family run nursery in Hermosa Beach has a nice variety of indoor and outdoor plants, trees, succulents, and herbs at reasonable prices. It has easy street parking in front and they carry your purchases to your car. I'm very happy with the jasmines and lavenders, flowers and herbs I bought there. They have healthy plants and knowledgeable staff. read more

Very disappointed with the level of help we got with selecting our plant. Basically got 1 word answers and minimal suggestions. Then, we had our plant delivered to replace another one, and I was surprised that they even offered to reuse the same soil that was in the pot...yuck! The "new" soil they put into the pot ended up growing mushrooms within the first few days, and now our $60 plant is struggling after just 2 months of regular TLC. I highly recommend Peter's Garden Center instead, for its much more knowledgeable and helpful employees. read more

Am building a test 2' x 3' Living Wall outside my son's room window so he doesn't have to look at orange flavored cinder blocks anymore. Needed 20 plants to fill it up. Came here and explained what I was doing to the owner Steven Chu. He's a man of few words, but obviously follows the philosophy of ask the right questions and you get the right answers. Wanted to know how much light and how they would be arranged. Then he took off and within 5mins set me up with 20 plants consisting of (8) different species that all had the same sun exposure and watering needs, yet were very different in look. Also told me to get a bag of moss to wrap around ea. root system to keep it moist. I finished the Living Wall and it looks fantastic. 20 plants, 1 medium bag of soil and 1 medium bag of moss...came to $55. Ended up not needing the soil for this project, so it would have cost even less. Not bad! Will definitely be going back to Steven for all our plant needs. Especially as I am now making a 12'x6' Living Wall. read more

Went in with my girlfriend because she wanted to buy some plants and they were rude and unhelpful. She needed to use the restroom and they would rather lose a great customer than allow her to use the restroom that was right there. It just so happens that she buys lots of flowers and plants regularly so they have no idea how much business they turned away that day. No explanation, no communication, they just looked at us as if we were aliens and so we left never to return. read more

Lucky Plants was a great experience. Steven, the owner, was very helpful and answered all my questions. He steered me in the right direction on what we should purchase for the location we were wanting to plant. They delivered for free! My plants arrived within 15 minutes of leaving. He was spot on as to how much potting soil I was going to need after trying to show him with my arms the size of the pot. I needed some additional plants but wasn't sure so he stopped by my house on his way home. ( I live close by) They have an amazing selection of indoor and outdoor plants and are priced lower than the big box stores. Going back this weekend for more...highly recommend them!! read more

Lucky Plants is worth a visit. Their prices on plants and pots are well below everywhere else. I bought 2 large, heavy glazed clay pots today that were each $40 less than other stores and 2 smaller pots that were 1/2 the price as similar ones elsewhere. Jan, the owner, was very helpful & patient while I decided on these planters. When other customers came in, she excused herself to help them which I completely understood. She's kind of a one woman operation, aside from her 1 helper, so I will excuse perfect customer service in exchange for the incredible prices. I purchased the pots today & they were delivered by 5pm. Free delivery! I would've loved to have purchased some plants to go into the planters, but unfortunately she just didn't have what I was looking for, which is why I didn't give 5 stars. Because it's a small place, the plant selections, although many, are still a bit limited. Again, it's worth stopping by. You may just find what you need. Oh, great prices on succulents, too! read more
