Stopped in for breakfast on our trip to watch the RAIDERS / Redskins game. Great little spot for a home cooked meal. Staff was super friendly & welcoming. Okay....Its okay. The service was good and the people friendly. For a reasonable breakfast, its not bad. However, I'm not rushing back. My main gripe is the amount of butter used. Found this little gem on Yelp and had to try it out since there is a lack of good food in the area. The phone ordering was pretty seamless and I was happy to see the lady on the phone followed my instructions to a tee. I'm taking one star off because i felt some of the food was a little bland and was irritated that I had to add basic condiments such as salt and pepper but other than that I was pleased. They give you a LOT of food for the price. We ordered two breakfast platters (the French toast and turkey bacon platters) and were able to feed 4 people comfortably! Breakfast here is awesome. Reminds me of the grease spoon restaurant a block away from my junior high school in Brooklyn, NY. Grease-spoon breakfast is homemade and the closest thing you can get Sunday with your family or grandmother. I've been here two times. Both times I ordered French toast and turkey bacon. This is my first visit and definitely not the last! I only ordered takeout BLT and coffee that day but I was especially impressed by their listening skills and thoughtfulness. The menu is amazing! I just wish that I had the time to experience more of their cuisine. Quick no-nonsense breakfast. Menu choices were extensive with house specials like the Lucky's Favorite. The owner and chef were friendly and welcoming. Wish we had found this place the day prior and had the opportunity to try their large lunch and dinner menu while we were staying in the Capital Beltway area. This restaurant is tucked away in an industrial park but don't be deterred, you feel like you are in a down home cafe and welcomed like locals. The absolute best breakfast I've had in Maryland. It is setting in a small strip mall but don't let looks deter you from dinning in this small mom and pop restaurant. I had the French toast platter which consisted of eggs anyway you want, choice of meat. Home fries or grits. The best French toast!!!!!!!! Everything was tasty leaving us full and fulfilled. However Some people have complained about the cook, one specific thing is he cooks their bacon in a fryer/oil that they use for French fries, fish and chicken. I have frequented Luckys Grill for years and overall it's a great place to eat. I admire Lucky for his drive and it's a black owned business but I think he needs to get better people at the desk some of these young ladies that he has hired really have very little customer service skills and at this point I feel I can no longer be a patron of his restaurant. It's unfortunate that somebody else is sabotaging his business based on their lack of respect and courtesy especially when an order isn't delivered correctly they could show a little empathy to the customer. I bought my food paid $40 for myself and someone else I ran some errands and when I finally sat down to eat I was missing my eggs extra eggs that I paid for, when I called to complain the young lady instead of being apologetic she had the nerve to state, "it took you two hours to find out you didn't have your eggs?". Constantly having to repeat the same order, became frustrating, only to not receive the correct order printed on the slip. Best breakfast food EVER. I ordered a salmon cake sandwich with egg and cheese and it was soooo good. I ended up returning to the place 3 days in a row. They even have free coffee if you dine in. They are fast, friendly and of course serving great food. I usually go early in the morning and beat the rush! I love there potatoes as well.
