If you love hot dogs, this is the place for you. Delicious food, fun atmosphere, cool decor, dog friendly, and great customer service. We ordered three hot dogs (Cobblestones, Roadsides and Molera), with tater tots, Dick Verde (fried brussels sprouts drizzled in balsamic vinnegarette), and hibiscus tea. We sampled the mac n cheese too since it's a topping on the Roadsides. Everything tasted flavorful and yummy! My husband hates brussels but loved these. Our only complaint would be the bacon on the dogs is thin, but still good. We enjoyed talking to the owner and staff, hearing some of the history of their recipes. Big does not equal good. Cute place - good Live music - good Price - $$$$ 1 hot dog, 1 tatertot, 1 tea, 1 shake $40.00 Food quality - Meh. I get trying to increase overall check prices to cover rent and expenses and trying to justifying the prices with large portions, but bigger portions does not necessarily equate to good food. Hot dogs are all about the right combination. The weiners are Nathan's and huge. But not all that tasty. Supposedly at one time Nathan's made a good product, but those days are gone. It's a shame they don't use the fresh made, hormone & preservative free dogs from Corralitos Market, they are killer. Then there was the chili, low medium at best. Bland, no real flavor. The bun, nothing great, just blah.The tots were just bad. They did not even look good, just a lot of them. It tasted like the oil in the fryer needs to be changed. A hot dog need the right moist soft bun, chili with some kick and a delicious weiner. I left a half eaten dog and most of the tots. Not going back. read more

Went to check out Lucy's on Lighthouse on their 3rd day of operation, and it looks like they've got some work to do. I was excited to see a new hot dog place in P.G. - especially a surf/skate-themed place, but my experience was less than stellar. My family of four ordered four dogs (Cliff House, Spanish Bay, Asilomar, and Dunes), two orders of tots (Wall Ride) (with Lucy's Sauce on the side please!) (I don't do mayo), a Sparky's root beer float, a hibiscus tea, and a bottle of Sparky's. Unfortunately, they were out of vanilla ice cream, so my son opted for butter brickle in his float. At first they told us they were out of Sparky's (an amazing local root beer), but then someone found a few bottles. Whew! We found an empty table on the patio - very chill vibe with cool reggae music playing. The food was delivered quickly, but the tots had the Lucy's Sauce (kind of like thousand island) all over, so we brought it to the attention of our very friendly server, and she said she'd correct it. Meanwhile, we bit in to our dogs and all had the same reaction - they weren't "hot" dogs; they were closer to "luke-warm" dogs. The house-made chili on my "Dunes" dogs was excellent, and when the tots came out correctly they were steaming hot - a perfect temperature. But the dogs, being luke-warm, weren't enjoyable and none of us finished ours. When I took a swig from my Sparky's I noticed that it, too, was at room temperature. A glass of ice would have solved this problem but by now there was quite a line to order so I let it go. I think the biggest problem was the price point - I understand Monterey Peninsula real estate is pricy, but I'm a hot dog fan & eat at Pink's on La Brea (in L.A.) at least once a month, and a chili dog there with mustard and onions is $4.75. (A must-do if you're ever in L.A.!) And they are served nice and hot from a steamer - I usually have to wait a couple of minutes before biting in. In comparison, my "Dunes" dog, similarly prepared, was $10 - more than twice the price. Another regular spot for us is Carney's (Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood or Ventura Blvd. in Studio City), where a dog with chili, mustard, tomato, and onions goes for $5.50. Again, about half of what Lucy's charges. Our bill for the food came out to $72.75 (plus a $14.55 tip that appeared to be added automatically) (total $92.94) - pretty steep for what we ordered. But the chili was excellent, and I still want to try the mac & cheese, so I'll give Lucy's on Lighthouse another try next time I'm in town. read more

Horrible Experience, My first and last time going to Lucy's on Lighthouse. The menu looked good, but never got to actually try the food. We ordered veggie dogs and beer. We waited patiently for over 30 minutes eventhough the place did not appear to be busy. After watching several parties come and go with food, I was waiting to talk to cashier but she was busy chatting and laughing with other guests. After another 10 minutes I went and stood in front of the cashier to ask about my food. She said "I didnt even notice you didnt have your food." She asked the kitchen and found out my food was never even made. I asked for my money back since hubby was already upset. To be fair I couldnt judge food, but I gave one star because the beer I got was good. Wont go back there again. read more

It has been a long time since I have been to a restaurant that specializes in just one item. And for this place it is Hot Dogs. It reminded me of my childhood as my home town had a place like this specializing in hot dogs and all the ways they could be prepared. I dig the vibe, the crazy names for the various types of hot dogs and the other sides. This place just feels like a wonderful throwback to the past. A great place which really gives you the true California beach feel of the past. And the hot dogs are excellent too. Don't miss this if you are ever in Pacific Grove. My only complaint is the are only open Thursdays through Sundays. Will definitely be back! read more

I love everything about Lucy's except the temperature of the hot dog itself. I've been there a half dozen times the past 2 years(incl today)and the shakes are incredible.. tots are hot and crunchy but every single time the hot dog has been luke warm at best. Great customer service and yummy hot dogs. The selection of toppings is incredible! The only reason this place isn't five stars is because it is a little pricey (a common problem on the Monterey Peninsula). The outdoor seating is great for these times where health/safety is especially important. One of my favorite things about Lucy's is that their chilli is bean-less (the way it should be!). We used to come here for a quick bite. Today I went to get ice cream with my son and only 1 staff member was masked. There wasn't even a "below the nose" half-a$$ed effort. We've been here only a couple of times, but the ice cream was great. When they inadvertently served my daughter her ice cream in a cone instead of a cup, they brought out a fresh scoop in a cup and let us keep the cone--nice! I don't know what's better, the food, the music, or the owner. I ordered a drink called the mermaid, it is literally my favorite drink in the world. Wine and ice cream. What? I feel like this place is a time warp for old punkers and new surfers. Any place with the Ramon's on the wall can't be all bad. The food is amazing, the drinks are even better. I had the Cobblestone, without a bun. It was delicious, with a generous amount of BBQ beef. My husband had the Spanish Bay, he said the toppings were generous and the flavor was excellent. The tea was refreshing. My only disappointment was that the staff couldn't give me information on gluten. I would like to be able to try other items but when I asked if the Nacho Sauce had gluten, I was told they didn't know but probably. Consequently I didn't ask about the Tater Tots. Our two dogs with drinks ran $39, as some others have said a little pricey but all around an enjoyable experience. read more
