These guys are always super busy which is great so I have to get my oil changed some where else. The last oil change I got from Sun Auto told me I had to replace 3 different fluids and it could be catastrophic to my car if I didn't. They continued and said that they are having a special (shocking) and for only $395.00 they'll be able to do all of that and other stuff that needed attention. I took my car over to Lugnuts and asked them to look over and see if it was true and change what needed to be charged (for all three fluids they said $250.00). I get a phone call and they said only one fluid should be changed and it would cost $85. DONE Do It Obviously we don't know what's going on with our cars, so we gave to truly trust mechanics and their word. These guys have proven that honesty and integrity still exists . read more

Brought in a 93 Ford Ranger for an ignition problem that I diagnosed to be an aged easily-accessible distributor. They confirmed the reason and replaced it and the truck worked. The parts charges were unexpectedly steep: $195 for a distributor that costs $90-100 at Autozone, Oreilly and Rockauto.com. Their explanation was, "I don't know, that's how much our parts supplier charges." They also charged a $75 "diagnostics" fee in addition to labor, even though I pointed them to the problem. Certainly a ripoff. Second conclusion: I shouldn't consider positive reviews from friends that are not car-savvy as they don't know when being overcharged. 09/30/15: Details. There are three major areas that can go wrong with this truck's ignition: fuel delivey, ignition system, and compression. I addressed the first by measuring fuel pressure at the injectors (pass), moved on ignition systems and found no command signal going into ignition coil to fire. Then going down the line, I replaced the ignition computer and tested - still no command to fire. Well, the ignition computer fires if the distributor asks it to. Well, there was no command from the distributor (voltage on the harness pin). Surely, the last thing to replace and check was the distributor. At this point, I ran out of time and handed the car to you. You replaced the distributor - and VOILA - it worked. But I GOT CHARGED for what would have been your work! Usually I drop off my car in the morning (wee hours, before work) and then take the bus back to Lugnuts in the afternoon. They are very fairly priced and they give it to you straight as to what they feel you need to and don't need to get done, and when. I took my car into Lugnuts because of all the positive reviews I read on YELP! They were honest and care about getting good reviews on YELP. People were friendly and I knew what my car needed and they didn't try to "up-sell" me on anything. As a woman, you tend to feel you're going to be taken advantage of, when going to the mechanic. However, I felt I was treated fairly and courteously. Excellent service on my breaks and I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs automotive work. I took my car to Lugnuts because it was not starting every time I turned the key. I also wanted to get my broken AC checked out and change the oil. Patrick was the guy that helped me each time I was on the phone with them. They started on it as soon as they got it in the morning and were able to release it to me by 4pm. They did a diagnosis and determined that the security system was likely to blame. Also, my check engine light was on and it was a sensor that wasn't plugged in all way. Even though they spent time on my car try to figure out what was wrong, and fixing an unrelated problem, they ended up only charging me for the oil change. Communication and service was great! Let me tell ya, the five star reviews on here are accurate. I needed battery cables replaced. Patrick explained to me what was needed, had great communication, and even answered my questions when I called back about other options and didn't seem annoyed with this auto novice. The parts came in one week after ordering, and I promptly got a call to bring it on in. This morning, I was on a tight time schedule, couldn't miss much work. and was expecting a bit of a wait on the couch, as these guys are BUSY and backed up with work. Started bringing my car here once it was out of warranty, and am now bringing the wife's car as well. Cannot say enough good things about these guys. They are honest, fast, and reasonably priced. I never got the feeling they were trying to upsell a service, and they do a great job keeping you appraised of the progress on your car. If you want to wait while they work on your car, you can stroll over to the work bays and watch them work. The only drawback is the size - the place is small so it can get backed up. However, they usually do get to your the car by the end of the day if you bring it in in the morning. read more

Brought my car in with an a/c problem, the compressor clutch wasn't engaging. Patrick called me later that day saying the entire compressor assembly needed to be replaced, and that the bill would be $1300ish. I asked him about just replacing the compressor with a remanufactured one ($250 at autozone), but he said he couldn't do it for warranty reasons, which I understand completely. After bringing my car home without repair I did some research and found out that clutch coil thermal fuse failure was rather common on this year and model car, and that there was even a technical service bulletin for the exact issue. If I could easily find this out, why couldn't professional mechanics? My husband tested the coil with his ohms meter, and sure enough it was fried. A couple hours disassembling the compressor clutch and a new thermal fuse from radio shack for $3, and I now have cold a/c again. I waited three months before writing this review, to see if our 'fix' would be temporary, but it has so far held up fine during our hottest months. In my opinion, they did no diagnostic work and just wanted to replace the most expensive parts. 2 Stars because I have received reputable work there in the past. But after this potentially wallet breaking experience, I may not return. read more

I will NEVER bring my car anywhere else and neither will any of my friends or family. Here's why.... I had taken my Jeep to a different local auto shop. I won't name names (although I should because they're slimeballs). My Jeep kept stalling randomly. It's a problem we've been having with it for almost a year. We had it in the dealership who scratched there head and than threw 1200 dollars in parts at it, which did nothing to help. Then I took it to this other place where they listed off a hundred things it could be sent me home and told me they'd call. I had to call them after a day to see if they found anything. They quoted me $650.00 to replace a computer. I told them I'd like to take it elsewhere for a second opinion before committing to work. Thank God I did! I followed the best Yelp reviews and went to Lugnuts. I immediately knew I made the right choice. Jason the owner is great. Super friendly and actually cares about finding the REAL problem actually refusing to throw unnecessary parts at your car just to make money. He took my car and told me he and his guys would do his best to find the problem. They checked every possible area that could be in need of repair and weren't having any luck. Jason kept in contact with me and let me know he still wanted to do more research on the internet before giving up or replacing something that may not need to be replaced. I was so worried because like a lot of people we don't have $650.00 laying around to spend on our 10+ years old car. We have three kids and that amount of money would throw us off for a month or so. Finally, Jason called me and said he had come across someone with the exact same issue with the same car on the internet that had tried a ton of parts and money and nothing had worked until he tried replacing some screws going into the (650 dollar) computer. He told me he like to try this on my jeep and see if it worked. My car has not died once since!! His dedication to his job and to saving me and my family expenses we didn't need is what made all the difference, HONEST,NICE, FRIENDLY, HARDWORKING PEOPLE. Well your battery needs to be replaced and your wiring is melted.. Me.. What?! We can order the parts, $2200.. Me: No stop what your doing and just replace the battery. That will be $350! Both my adult offspring have taken their cars into Lug Nuts with mixed results while I watched from the wings. My daughter's experience was generally good, if expensive. My son's experience, on the other hand, is one of those situations where you wonder just how far you should go giving someone the benefit of the doubt before you become a sucker. The original problem was one of those that the owner of a 16 year old car will be familiar with - a worn part kind of took a lot of other parts down with it. So a pulley replacement turned into a pulley-belt-water-pump replacement. I had no problem with that at all. I didn't even object to being charged (I paid for the repairs) for the non-functioning cheap-crap radiator cap they felt the need to put in place of the original equipment. Maybe it looked iffy. Maybe. But the cheap-crap cap failed 10 miles out of the shop. Then the radiator self-destructed. Yeah, maybe it had reached the end it's natural life-span and the monkeying around in the other repairs weakened it further. I've seen it happen. Then, two days out of the shop oil started dripping out under the engine. Turned out to be a bad valve cover gasket. Again, maybe it was its time and the repairs just gave it that final nudge. Maybe. But the final straw was the accelerator cable bracket at the throttle dropped off without warning a week after the gasket replacement. Sloppy workmanship or another nudge into the repair bay? Didn't matter because this was one that didn't take special tools or experience to fix. But it was enough to push me over the line wondering just how much co-incidence I would stomach. So, no more chances. I'm not accusing anyone of anything definite, just reporting what happened and saying that it won't happen any more on that car. Maybe someone else will notice this review and compare their experience before they have one more trip back to the shop. Or maybe I'm paranoid. I don't insist that it was intentional. The last one could have been incompetence and was minor enough not to make me push it. But keep your eyes open, just in case. read more

Lugnuts gets only 4 stars ONLY because I dropped off my vehicle on a friday night and by Monday when they opened there was 19 cars ahead of mine even though I was the 3rd car dropped off that day. There were only 2 on the lot when I dropped my keys in the box. But they ARE great, it took them a while to look at my vehicle they said by Tuesday and they actually got to it by Monday afternoon. Very nice staff. And since it was a problem they couldn't fix they didn't charge me. I don't know if this is the case every time but in my particular circumstance it was. And they let me keep my vehicle there an extra night until i made arrangements to go somewhere else. They recommended another place which also has great staff and are extremely helpful. FIVE Stars really aren't enough. This was my second visit to lugnuts, the first being a water pump on a 72 Cutluss. Patrick said they didn't usually workn cars that old but quoted me a price that was half what my regular shop had given me. They did a great job and I haven't had any problem with the cooling system since. Today I took my other car to lugnuts and basically told Patrick I needed new brake pads because I'd heard some noise and the car had nearly 100k on it. Most shops would have just replaced the brakes and gone on with their business. Patrick did a inspection and determined the sound was probably just a hard spot on a pad, but the brakes were fine. He would even take anything for checking them out. That is very rare to have a free brake inspection from non brake specialty shop. I'm definately going back when the brakes finally wear out or if any other repairs are needed. read more

After having a couple really bad car repair situations I read the reviews on yelp and went to Lugnuts. Bottom line: good experience Without an appointment I dropped by and told them I had "metal on metal" on at least one of my front brakes. I asked for an estimate on the brake system and left my car with Jason. The drop off experience was good. I got a call a couple hours later with a clear estimate of the work needed. The estimate was matched with what I already knew was wrong with the car so that was reassuring. I told them to proceed with the brake repairs+oil change and my car was ready the next day before lunch all fixed up. The final bill matched the estimate and what I expected so I was happy. I checked prices against another place and was satisfied withe the amount. Another thing I liked was that I already knew I needed a new belt but planned to install it myself. Jason mentioned the cracked belt in the initial car inspection but did not pressure me to fix anything extra or try and sell me stuff I didn't ask for. So...I'm happy today and plan to give them a try them again the next time my car needs go beyond do-it-myself. (I don't just hand out stars....I'd only give a place 5 if they can wow me on at least 3 consecutive visits. I've only been here once so far.) read more

I called in before class to find out if they were too busy for a basic oil change. Employee told me they were jammed, but if I could come in soon he would make some room for me. Thirty minutes later I show up, they squeeze me in as promised, and twenty minutes later I'm out the door. It was cheaper (And two hours faster) than firestone and the staff didn't try to sell me anything extra, or treat me as though I'm incompetent. I appreciated it. Arrived home from vacation, end of July - picked up from train station by my business partner who had been using our Hyundai Santa Fe to move while we were out of town. "Your A/C has been blowing continually warmer...." NOT what I want to hear when it's 100+ out and I have a 6 month old....Tried to tough it out for two weeks with the windows down, but when your infant is SWEATING after a 20 minute ride it's time to look into repairing the problem. SO! Yelp it is. Found the reviews for Lugnuts Automotive and since they are right up the street from my house(meaning I can walk home to and from dropping off the car!) I decided to see what it would cost to get my A/C back.. I arrived at 7:45, just so I could be 1st in :) By 9am Jason had called and told me it was a hose leak between the compressor and condensor.. He would have to order it since it isn't something that they fix often and would take an additional day to fix. I mentioned I would need the car for a job the following day and that I'd have to bring it back for the repair. He said "Let me make a call and get back to you" He called back an hour later and said he could get the hose from the dealership and fix it that day, but that it might be a bit more since they can't get wholesale on parts from the dealer. Then he gave me a quote for the repair and it was soooo much less than what I was expecting, I figured "If they can get it done today, it is worth the extra!" So we got our car back that afternoon and YAYYYY cold air!!!! Thanks soooo much to Jason and his crew - we will be back! read more

I went to Lugnuts based on the other reviews here (Thanks, guys!) I brought my car in around 1 on a Friday to have my brakes replaced and find out why my steering wheel vibrates around 70 mph. They called me back at 4:30 apologizing for the delay (what delay? I thought that was pretty quick!), gave me a quote that was lower than I expected and let me know they usually close at 6 but would be staying late to get my car back to me same day so I could have it for the weekend. What nice fellas! They also explained the vibrating wheel could be fixed by rotating and blalancing the tires but it would not be worth it since two of the tires needed to be replaced soon, so they didn't want to charge me for something that wouldn't be very effective. All around they were awesome, and I will certainly be going back! read more

I am very happy we have found this shop. My husband has an older model Jeep and it needs repairs often. We got tired of dealing with the typical Jeep repair places in town. They are honest and quick. They have a drop box for keys for after hours drop offs. We have had them also work on my father's SUV and again no issues. They don't do everything. They will not work on my father's Jag or deal with air bag lights. Front office could be a tad more friendly but they are not rude. They are more to the point, very direct! Watch out for the step in. I have tripped on it twice. You would think I would have learned after the first time. We have only dropped off cars and not waited for them. They are cool to let us leave them in their lot until we can pick up. They also have a deal if you check in with Yelp. However, be sure to show when you arrive vs. when you pay. They will not honor it if you wait until you pay. I don't agree with this but their right to do what they want. Doesn't work when you drop off the car at night after hours. We feel like the price and quality of work is spot on. We will continue to use them to work on the Jeep and any other cars not under dealer warranty. read more

wow, again lemme just say WOW. so my girl's ac broke, and she went to firestone to get a quote on fixing it. came out despondent because firestone had told her that it would cost 1000 dollars to fix. they contended that the ac compressor clutch was broken and that for some reason it would just be easier for them to replace the entire compressor unit, along with evaporator orifices and accumulators and all kinds of excessive nonsense. Well i took one look at the bill and said thats ridiculous then proceeded to call around to the top yelp automotive places. upon finding lugnuts, it was a delight from the first call, as they assured me that they could indeed change the clutch without replacing the entire compressor, and in case the firestone place didnt do a very good job (they assured me that they likely didnt) they told me that they could look at any a/c problems for free. so we ended up taking the car over and after being told it would take an hour too look at we got a call 20 minutes later saying that they had checked out the car. far from needing a new clutch or compressor however apparently there was actually no problem, they simply disconnected and reconnected the compressor and the ac turned on just fine. now they could have gone ahead and done what we asked and replaced the clutch or entire compressor or any of that nonsense, but instead they simply let us know to come pick up the car. having saved us 1000 dollars we simply went on our way without paying a single dime for the trouble. i almost feel bad for making the very nice and professional employee waste his time however i know that if anything ever happens to either of our cars again we wont waste time coming back. read more

Fantastic place! Patrick is very friendly, honest, and explains things well. They do the necessary work and don't add things that aren't needed. I've taken my car there about 3-4 times a year for the past 5 years. It has 110,000 miles on it and I still take it on long road trips. When I brought it in because the brake lights stayed on, they fixed it on the spot with a new switch. Good boys here. While I usually do my own maintenance, I had a bad feeling about doing the plugs on my '06 Ford F-150. They like to break off in the head and ruin a perfectly good day. I took the truck to them, and they got them all out without breaking any of them; including #8, which is the hardest to access, and in this case was stuck and refused to budge even with an impact wrench. They could have told me they'd broken it, and I'd've believed it ('nuther $90 to extract each busted plug). These are straight-up honest guys. read more
