Yikes. Blanched and devoid of flavor.

Whew... this was a rough and extremely daunting meal. I can't decipher if being served undercooked linguine alle vongole after waiting 30 minutes or ordering a caprese garnished with store-brought mozzarella and "basil flakes" is more disrespectful than the other. As someone who has spent a summer in Italy/studied abroad, I was absolutely gobsmacked as to why anyone patrons this restaurant! The highlight of the evening was our kind waitress (clearly had absolutely no culinary-based experience and my boyfriend had to open the bottle of wine for her) and the Barolo. That is it. A proper caprese does not feature 4/5ths tomatoes and shards of two leaves of basil. Linguine and clams does not come congealed, with half of the clams closed (ie. dead) and a poor pasta cook (not al dente-- just half cooked). Our waitress informed me that she would be removing the item from the bill.... Um. Hello. I took ONE bite and decided absolutely NOT. We aren't discussing a comp/removal. It's inferred. And the 'tortellini in brodo'?! That I waited another 30 minutes for? Store brought chicken broth, no herbs or elevation. Absolutely sad and inedible. We will likely just contact AMEX. Maybe it's because I'm a New Yorker, well traveled and a damn good cook... Because this place!? Oh no. Blasphemy. Just no flavor or love-- I've had better meals and experiences in a college dorm. Oh! Pro tip! Please don't sit an elegant party of two next to egregiously-behaved children who require medication and therapy. The experience was a fail at "Hello. Party of 2?" *And "this guest" still paid the bill and tipped graciously amidst a very disappointing meal-- as it wasn't our waitress' fault. Alas, management won't take the onus that the food is subpar. Bravo.

Timballo: pasta and mozzarella wrapped in lightly breaded eggplant with marinara.

Went here for lunch for the first time last week. Pasta Fagoli soup was good and served piping hot; certainly looked and tasted homemade. I also had the Timballo which was fresh and delicious; the marinara was so tasty. Also had tiramisu which was outstanding; highly recommend. Had read reviews before going (concerns about food not being homemade and staff issues.) I will say that staff seemed a little tense and harried despite place only being about 1/4 full; no smiles even upon greeting us when we walked in the door. Drink refills were never offered and my water glass sat empty for 30+ minutes (never refilled) and had to flag waitress to collect bill. Would I go back for the food? Absolutely. Would I have felt more like a valued and respected guest with a least an attempt at a smile and being sure we had what we needed during our meal? Also absolutely.

Such a great place, nice atmosphere, excellent food and great service. Moderately price. Definitely going back.

So we are back home in Fairfield, CT and we went by our old time favorite Luigi's and noticed it was closed. We got a little nervous but came by again and it was open! We love the staff, owner and his family and the food! When you just want great food, relax with a nice glass of wine or a bar drink and a real Italian dish or just pizza, this is the place ! Great prices, great food, great people! Oh, fresh baked bread, amazing. A must try!

The menu is some what tied into the Puglia region, which is the heel of the boot. I could tell the italian dialect from the owner when he was speaking to one of the staff, it immediately gave me a good feeling that this restaurant would be really good. The appetizers we had were all really good, we had the fried calamari, the grilled Octopusss, the fried zucchini flowers and thd hummus special. Sorry no pics of these. We had a couple of the Orrechiette Barese, Chicken parmigiana, a pasta special of fettuccine with shrimp in a cream and pesto sauce, another pasta with cavatelli, shrimp and cream and pesto sauce, really couldn't see the pesto, probably could have used a little more or maybe a little finishing with the pesto on top. Service was good and the owner came around to introduce himself and we got a complimentary round of their homemade creama di limencello to finish off the experience. Wr wouldn't hesitate to go again the next time we are in town to see a show.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty, save for one gentlemen. The dining space is shared with the bar and the tables were nicely set. We did not get the friendliest of welcomes and the wait staff seemed almost annoyed at our questions and not being ready to order. We were in no rush. My friend thought about getting the eggplant and asked if it could be prepared without the breading. No was the reply. Ok. Pizzas are only 1 size, personal size 12 inch. No other choices. So we ordered a plain cheese pizza and a half eggplant/half crumbled sausage. The cheese pizza was edible, but nothing to return for. The eggplant on half of the pizza had an off putting taste and was mushy. Not at all appetizing. The sausage was meh. Pizza crust was thin but lacked flavor, sauce was sparse and lacking depth or flavor. I did not eat the eggplant 1/2 pizza and the server asked if I wanted it boxed up. "No thank you." She then proceeded to tell me that was a waste and it was only a personal sized people and I should've had no problems eating it. Rude. Prices were high for the quality of food that was served. Restrooms were clean and plenty of parking, but I do not recommend and will not be returning.

Vespino Pizza + Restaurant is a modern Italian restaurant and New York-style pizzeria that opened…read morein Fairfield, Connecticut in March 2023. It was founded by Italian immigrant restaurateurs and business partners Nunzio DeTommaso and Biagio "Gino" Riccio. DeTommaso ran Gravina Pizzeria in Greenwich for a number of years before it closed, while Riccio is most well-known for founding Quattro Pazzi Café in Fairfield in 1997. In this new collaborative venture between the two, DeTommaso and Riccio serve authentic New York-style pizza in a friendly and casual atmosphere. The name "Vespino" is a reference to a brand of mopeds which are a popular mode of transportation in major Italian cities. In addition to the signature New York-style pizza, the menu also consists of Detroit-style pizza, Italian entrees, pasta dishes, salads, classic antipasti, beer, wine and craft cocktails. In summer 2024, Vespino was sold to restaurateur Marcelo Acosta. My family and I recently had dinner at Vespino for the first time. We've had them on our "must-try" list of restaurants for some time and we were excited to finally sample their food. There were some fancy-sounding drinks on their cocktail menu, so I decided to order the "Sardinian Special" (Redemption bourbon, prickly pear, citrus, mint). This delicious cocktail reminded me of being on a warm Italian beach: a nice distraction from the freezing cold temperatures outside. For food, I ordered the "Burrata Pizza" (mozzarella, tomato sauce, topped with/ fresh burrata & EVOO), my wife ordered the "Tortelloni" (peas, prosciutto, mushrooms, vodka sauce), our older son had the "Kids Chicken Tenders" (w/ fries), and our younger son had the "Kids Penne Pasta" (w/ butter). We all really liked our food! My pizza had a crispy crust, really creamy burrata, and an excellent sauce! My wife loved her pasta, especially the vodka sauce). Overall, we all had a great experience at Vespino and would love to return. Next time I really want to try their Detroit-style pizza.
