Their chicken piccata is cooked to perfection every time I order it and their fresh desserts always make my mouth water! From hand tossed fried mozzarella to delicious, warm housemade bread there's hardly any aspect of their food that could disappoint. The staff are always wonderful, sweet, and genuine when going through the dining experience with us, which is always wonderfully charming. Only thing is you should try to not to cut it close to closing because they occasionally shut it down to just pizza if it's late and a slower night. Excellent food. I have had many a meal from Luigi's - but never a bad one. Numerous pizzas with various toppings, the usual plus my white pizza with clams and hot peppers and things like that. Good, reliable pizza. Have enjoyed a large number of selections from the dinners - all very good. Food-wise, Luigi's is great. It really is, I wish I lived closer - I'd have their food much more often. I'm not in love with the layout of the dining room - it is a bit crampy for my taste. I pretty strongly dislike the parking situation there. There are a few spaces right up against the building (which I prefer to leave alone in case someone handicapped or going for takeout comes along) and then parking in the back and other parking elsewhere shared with a variety of stores. It seems that employees and other stores might use the parking up around the back because it seems pretty well used even when they aren't that busy. But regardless of those things, I can't knock off a star because I enjoy the food too much. It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the entire area. read more

This is our go to place..we love the food, the atmosphere and the staff treats us like family! They are the nicest people! They make the best pizza in town, but their other entrees are always great! Always! We had a great party there with 40 friends and it was amazing! The staff was attentive, Guilio helped plan the perfect menu..our friends were blown away. Seriously we'd give them more stars if we could!!!! My husband devours the linguine w red clam sauce like his own mama made it! And he's crazy about the eggplant parm. For years, this venerable spot on Post Road in Fairfield was somewhat dismissed as just being your run-of-the-mill, checkered red tablecloth, Italian family pizza restaurant. Nothing could be further from the truth as Luigi's Restaurant has really upped their game over the last decade or so. Sure, they make a whole lot of pizza (and it's quite good), but there's a whole lot more to enjoy at Luigi's. These days, Fairfield is littered with Italian restaurants that claim to be authentic. In actuality, they are all either authentic Italian-American, or- and this is more often the case- trendy, modern Italian-American (sorry, folks, but 'tapas' is Spanish, not Italian). But Luigi's is the real deal if you want authentic Italian food in Fairfield. I say this as somebody who has traveled to Italy on a handful of occasions, but also as someone who grew up in an authentic, hardcore Southern Italian family, and was pretty much force-fed Italian food for years. In fact, I rarely go out for Italian food as I make it at home. But for Luigi's, I make an exception because their menu contains several great options, many of which you just can't find at other Italian eateries in the ara. I'd challenge any Italian restaurant-goer in Fairfield to find a tastier appetizer than the Funghi di Bosco (grilled polenta and portobello mushrooms topped with garlic, basil and fresh cherry tomatoes) or the Scamorza all Griglia (smoked mozzarella that is grilled and served with prosciutto di parma)- two of the best items on the menu at Luigi's. As for entrees, I like the Eggplant Timballo (stuffed eggplant wrapped in homemade pasta), or whatever one of the specials might be (I had a pork ossobucco there a few weeks ago that was outstanding). Or- if you're in the mood for keeping it simple- try a pizza. It'll rival some of the better pizza establishments in Fairfield. Luigi's has done a good job at keeping their prices relatively reasonable. Most entrees range from $13-$20, and their wine list features some unique and budget-friendly choices. The ambiance is low-key, but nice. And in the warmer months, you can dine outside. All in all, my pick for real Italian in Fairfield. read more

If comparing this to the famed video game Super Mario Brothers, Luigi's sure lives up to his character and by that I mean I would rather go to Mario's restaurant than Luigi's. This place is so-so; The service is friendly and quick, and the prices are fine, but the food really isn't all that good (plus you don't get a lot of it). We had their lasagna and a pumpkin ravioli special, but the lasagna really didn't stand out and there weren't too many raviolis so I left feeling we probably wouldn't be back. read more

We have gone to Luigi's countless times over the years. Food is okay, service is okay, but we kept coming back because it's a local family run business. However, last night we ordered 3 entrees for take out. Got home, one meal was missing so had to go back. When I went in to pick up the missing meal there was no acknowledgement of the error, no apology, not even eye contact from the woman at the counter. This is the same woman who took care of me at pickup. The woman just shoved the bag across the counter at me and then immediately turned her attention to a customer just walking in the door. It wasn't busy but I was completely ignored. I said, "you could at least apologize for screwing up the order". She immediately blamed another individual by name for the mistake. Again, no acknowledgement to the customer who was inconvenienced to drive back to get the meal they missed. The owner came out as his employee argued with me and said absolutely nothing. He had plenty of opportunity to step in and make things right and yet he said nothing. My last comment was, "I don't care who made the mistake, if you make a mistake with a customer's order, at least you could apologize instead of ignoring the person". Again, the owner just watched and didn't say a word. No apology or acknowledgement for the error. Today, restaurants should appreciate every customer that walks through the door. Luigi's doesn't seem to care about their customers so Luigi's has just lost a customer of 20 years. There are lots of great restaurants with better food, who know how the treat customers. We will go to those restaurants from now on. read more

I'd love to give more stars because the food seems pretty good, and was highly recommended, but the service my group of 9 and I had was absolutely terrible! Went in for lunch today, a Tuesday afternoon, at around 11:15ish. Aside from the waitress having no clue how to rearrange tables to be able to fit us (with the restaurant being completely empty) she overall had no idea what she was doing! Ok...so, here's the summary: Our group was finally situated and seated, and at the same time politely mentioned we didn't have a ton of time, as we had to get back to work. After mentioning this, the waitress walked away (to get menus we assumed), but basically didn't come back! We waited almost 5-10 minutes for her to come back with menus, to the point one of the people in our group just got up to go get them herself. Another person had asked for some bread when she seated us, but that came only after asking several more times (when the waitress finally came back to us). During this ridiculous wait, two other diners had walked in, were seated a few tables away, had drinks, water, and food ordered before we even got the menus from her. After the waitress got them their bread, drinks, and took their orders, it still took her another 5 minutes for her to FINALLY come and take our drink orders! Mind you, this is now about 15 minutes now after we sat down. We asked if we could place drink and food orders, as we were now very crunched for time and about to walk out. It took her a few minutes to comprehend this, and we then proceeded. When it was my turn to order, I asked what the soup of the day was (it said on the menu they had pasta fagioli, tortellini with broth, and a soup of the day), and she said pasta fagioli and tortellini broth were the choices. I said, ok, what about the soup of the day it says on the menu is an option? It took literally about a minute for her to comprehend what I was asking, and someone else in the group finally told me they never have one! Ok... In any case, after this small conversation, I ended up ordering the tortellini soup. Food finally comes around 12:00 (yup, we're at 45 minutes now for lunch), and guess what? My soup was never ordered! I asked where the soup was and she looked at me like I had two heads. She asked if I still wanted it, as everyone had a plate in front of them....did she think I'd say no, I prefer to watch everyone else eat?!?! This, unfortunately, wasn't even the biggest problem. Her overall service and attitude stunk. I was told after we left by someone else in the group she even had the audacity to roll her eyes behind me during the soup conversation. Even worse, she charged me for it! I certainly wasn't looking for a freebie, but c'mon! Even if she offered to take it off the tab, I would have said no, as I don't require anything but an apology and/or correction, but there was none whatsoever! Just eye rolling I found out after. Essentially, I will never go back to this place....and its a shame because it was highly recommended by someone in our group, to the point she felt awful for even bringing us there. If I have the time, I may even call the owners later, as I am a business owner myself and know that you cannot always trust employees to mind the shop when the owners are away (my friend who frequents there said they were not there, and this was out of the ordinary service). We've been coming to Luigi's for years and are never disappointed. The pizza is very good, and you can also get some more upscale entrees - I am a fan of their Gorgonzola salad with house dressing which is a nice oil and vinegar. The eggplant Parmesan is very good too. In general I'd call them a "red sauce Italian" place .. all the classics are on the menu. They updated the interior a few years ago and it is pleasant and nice. Tables have tablecloths and cloth napkins, their chianti is a good bet for the grown ups, and overall it's a place great for a casual date or with kids who know how to chill and enjoy a nice family meal. Staff are always very friendly and efficient. And their basket of hot bread made out of their same pizza dough is a great way to start the meal! read more

We love coming here. Foods always great, we always set our intentions to try new entrees and always wind up ordering pizza because it is so good and smells so delicious when you walk in!!! I give 1 Star to these morons because their service is horrible, after trying to bring my mother for a birthday dinner and ordering food only two out of three meals came to the table and then the waitress told my mother her meal would be right out and 35mins later when I went up to the owner and asked for the check because we still haven't received the meal he looked at me and walked into the kitchen without responding and just started pacing. I would think as a business owner in the same town I wouldn't have had the waitress apologizing, as the owner I would have walked over to the table and tried to make the situation right! Locally, this is the best Italian restaurant. Since 1975 Luigi's is still there. The only restaurant to serve the Best veal parmigiana. The service Needs to be "Polished" but other than that get there early. read more

Down right awesome place to eat. Family oriented, amazing friendly staff, and delicious food at a fair price. I haven't had a bad dish yet. Even if your looking for a take out pizza, I would strongly recommend trying their pie. The smoked mozzarella and prosciutto was a recommendation once, and now I order it every time we go. We eat out all the time in Ffld and I sometimes forget about Luigis because it is a bit farther of a drive for us. BUT both times we have been here the food is spectacular!!! My first visit. For lunch. A waitress called out, so service by the one waitress was as good as it was going to get. She was hustling. She was bussing, waitressing, hostessing, and cashiering, all cheerfully and very friendly. 5 stars for her. Luigi however stood nearby ordering her around, and not helping. He did bring me my bread but the whole time I was there (45 mins), he did not check on one table, clear one dish, or set one table. He sat at the front table with papers, calculator, and phone. Really?! Seemed not to be aware of how slow this made the experience for customers. I was unimpressed by him. As owner, he gets 1 Star. Also I cd see the kitchen staff from my table and I witnessed someone eat a piece of food off the grill. Kinda gross. 2 Stars for cleanliness. But.. I ordered the Cobb Salad for $7. Worth every penny. Grilled chicken and perfectly cooked bacon made to order. Plenty of it. Mediocre bottled dressing, and 2 canned black olives. I wd pay 50 cents more for a unique house dressing and kalamata olives. This is an Italian restaurant after all! Still, a very good deal. 4 stars for the salad. But... 25 minutes from being seated to getting my food...? Hardly fast. And not great for the working person in terms of speed. I called to see if someone would bring it to me because now this is a inconvenience to me.
