Luis Mendoza Roofing (LMR) put a new MCA "S" clay tile roof on our two-story house. Anthony had done other reroofs in our neighborhood and nearby. We had the solar panels removed, then LMR striped the roof down to the plywood (even replacing a few failed plywood sheets). Then he applied a peel and stick fireproof underlayment before installing the new tiles. His crew worked hard through some of the hottest summer days. Anthony supplied a porta-potty and some areas were covered for protection while work was being done. Anthony was onsite many times a day. He worked with my solar contractor to get the best installation. The roof passed both the OC sheathing and final inspections. I would recommend Luis Mendoza Roofing. read more

I asked Luis for a quote for my mother's roof he was very nice at first, he told me he will come the next day. That day another roofer came and gave me a quote, he said he'll do it the next day. I took him up on the as I'm on a time crunch to get it done. Now Luis is not so nice. I explained that some else is doing the job and he tells me not to waste his time. As this was not my intention I figured I would screen shot the text and let Yelp decide if they would like someone like him to work there house. This my second review for this exceptional family run roofing business. I am just as impressed now as I was a few years ago. A few years ago they put a new roof on my father in laws house. It was an excellent job and so it was a "no brainer" to call on them when my personal home needed a roof. It turns out I didn't just need a roof, I desperately needed one. After removing the old roof they found a lot of wood rot, water damage and termite damage. They had to replace 36 sheets of plywood, all new fascia, 13 rafter tails and a bunch of structural wood work. (It's only a 1200 square foot house!) The process with them was easy and stress free. Luis Jr came to my home on a few hours notice, got up on the roof, have me his opinions, wrote a proposal and we accepted. He took care of the permits and got us on the schedule. Three weeks later his brother Andy and his crew were on my roof! They started on a Monday and were done on Friday. This was a lot of work, far more wood work than I believe they expected before stripping the old roof off. They took it all in stride, no complaints, no stress and no problems. We even left on a mini vacation Wednesday night through Sunday while they were on the roof working hard. Everytime I'd return from work one of the brothers or both would be on the roof doing the work with their crew. (Some of whom are likely family as well) Before we left on vacation I told Luis to call me if he needed anything and let me know if he needed me back. Luis said "go on vacation, don't worry we've got it covered". They did have it covered! (That's peace of mind) In addition to excellent service and superb craftsmanship they run a clean job. They neatly stack unused materials, secure their tools and thoroughly police the ground for trash and sharp objects every day before they leave for the night. I highly recommend you consider them should you need a roof or work on a roof. I am very impressed with the job, the value of their work product and the hard working values of the Mendoza family. They do things right and they really want you to be happy with their work! That's a rare "old world" ethic I appreciate. read more

Did not get inspection to close the permit, and ignored my requests to get inspection done.

They never scheduled the final inspection. I didn't realize this until the city sent me a letter and when I contacted Luis Mendoza roofing, I got no response. The inspector finally came out and gave me an earful. Also, they left the porta-potty in front of my house for more then a week. I had to call them to ask them to remove it. read more

I recently moved into a house in Trabuco Canyon. This house had several broken tiles and several loose tiles. I called 7 roofing company's, out of the 7 seven 3 called back, one never send over a quote, another sent a quote (extremely high) and never stopped by. Luis Jr. stopped by looked at my roof , email me a quote (30% less than the other quote). The following week he replaced the broken tiles, adjusted the loose tiles, and then emailed me photo the job completed (very professional). Originally, I called Luis because he came so highly recommended. He has done dozens and dozens of jobs in our neighborhood, and neighbors spoke highly of his whole operation. Of course I got other bids, and all were very close, so I chose Luis Mendoza Roofing. I'll let you talk to Luis yourself, and in the process, you will see he is a great salesman, has a great company, and it's really a fantastic family operation... Sons, daughters, nephews, etc., and they KNOW the business. We had a 50 year-old shake roof that had over 100 holes in it. It barely survived last year. Of course over the 50, there had been repairs. We chose to replace the wood shake with light concrete tiles. Our re-roof was scheduled to begin on Monday morning, and a crew of about 11 showed up! Luis was there and said he was afraid it might rain and didn't want to take a chance. Long story short, the entire roof was done in 3-1/2 days... Thursday noon!!! The "additional cost" of possible replacing bad wood was minimal. The quality of the work was perfect. They helped in removing some vents that weren't active anymore, and moving some new vents to the other side of the peak, so they wouldn't be visible from the front of the house. They replaced and re-flashed a skylight that I had bought, for no charge. The trim was all redone and painted to match the new roof. We couldn't be happier. The work was done quickly, each evening my patios were spotless after a daily cleanup. Bottom line? Great job, fair price! read more

Luis and his crew recently replaced our roof and the entire process from quote to finish was so easy, I'm still pinching myself! We were initially impressed with Luis Jr. when he arrived to provide us with a quote on a Saturday morning. He arrived early which we appreciated, and spent as much time with us as we needed to answer our questions. Our quote arrived on the day as promised, and while his was not the cheapest quote we received, we just had a feeling he would take care of us and our roof. It didn't hurt to see all the wonderful reviews here and on other sites. On day one, the crew showed up on time and covered everything in our garage with tarps, which we were not expecting, but greatly appreciated. Every day they would clean up not only our yard (front and back) and garage, but they would ask our neighbor for permission to clean out any debris that landed on his property. I can't tell you how impressed and appreciative our neighbor was! It was estimated that it would take 5-7 days to complete the job. They were basically done in 3 1/2 days with touch ups and final sign off by the city taking place the last two days....and they came in on budget too! My husband and I, as well as several of our neighbors were amazed at how quickly our new roof went up. It looks wonderful and we are constantly getting compliments.
